1960 Ford Fairlane 500 Two Door Sedan Cool Hot Rod Rat Rod Nascar Collectable on 2040-cars

Year:1960 Mileage:44631
Location:

Bismarck, North Dakota, United States

Very solid, straight Ford sedan.  All original, all there right down to the small hubcaps, jack and spare.  RUNS & DRIVES AND HAS BRAKES!!!!  This car has sat in a backyard since the 80s but I put a battery in it, poured some gas in the carb and she started right up.

I hot wired in because the key is missing. Lifters click a little and she smokes some but I only ran it about 15 minutes.  I think you could adjust lifters and run some fresh oil in her and the old 292 might be OK.  Transmission works good and brakes work.  She is running off of a 2 gallon jug you can see under hood because gas like is plugged and tank needs cleaned.

Body is very straight with 30 year old repaint.  Has small rust hole in lower quarter I tried to show in pictures and has small hole under driver foot where there is a hole in mat.  Surface rust in trunk.  Would take very little patching to repair.

Interior is all there but pretty shabby, door panels probably usable. Headliner bad.

Please non payers stay away, this car is going to sell so bid only if you are serious about owning this car.  Clear   North Dakota title in hand.  Car can be hauled by normal transport. Starts, runs, drives.  Installed aftermarket ignition switch to run.  Non English speaking foreign bidders do not bid or your bid will be cancelled.

Very hard to find in this condition, would make awsome hotrod or a nascar tribute replica.  You could tune her up, put some seat covers on and drive her the way she is.

Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."

Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.

Cadillac ELR, Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas win Eyes on Design awards

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

This year's annual Eyes on Design awards were presented at the end of press days for the Detroit Auto Show on Tuesday. Given out for the best production and concept car designs that debuted at the show, and voted on by an esteemed panel of actual car designers, this year's award for best production vehicle design went to the 2014 Cadillac ELR. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, which was the show favorite among Autoblog editors, apparently did not impress the Eyes on Design judges enough with its all-new vent-festooned design.
The award for best concept design was actually split as a tie among the Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas concepts. Last year's winners were the 2013 Ford Fusion and the Lexus LF-LC concept.
The Eyes on Design organization also presented a new honor this year called the Catalyst Award to Bob Lutz, former Vice Chairman of General Motors. Lutz is reported to have given a defense of design in his acceptance speech, arguing that advancements in quality across the industry as a whole have made good design a key differentiator for buyers.
