Location:

McHenry, Illinois, United States

1958 Ford Fairlane 2 dr Hardtop street legal straight axle vintage drag style car. Powered by a tunnel rammed Olds 455 with dual Holleys. Drive train is a TH 400 and 390 gears. This is a great car for your weekend cruise, local car show, or some time at your favorite track.

* Olds 455 30 over and balanced, crank is 10 and 10, hi volume oil pump with 6 1/2 quart pan. Crower hydraulic cam. G heads with port and polish, Ferrea stainless valves, Comp Cams roller rockers, and ARP head studs to hold then down.
* Offy tunnel ram with a pair or Holley 600 vacuum secondary carbs.
* MSD ignition and distributor
* Custom side exit exhaust have removable caps
* Dual pass aluminum radiator with electric fan
* Th 400 transmission and 3500 rpm Coan stall speed
* 3.90 Richmond gears. locker differential and 28 spline Superior axles
* 1956 Ford F100 front axle with disc brake conversion with line lock installed. 1956 F100 steering gear box rebuilt this year.
* Full set of Autometer Gauges that all work with exception of the fuel pressure gauge that is just not hooked up. Yes it has a working speedometer.
* Procar seats and Simpson harness on the drivers side with regular belt for the passenger. There are not a lot of frills in the interior. All windows go up and down.
* M&H street strip tires in the rear, 275/60/15s on custom 10" rims. Protrack front runners on 3.5 wide slots.
* Rear wheel wells have been pushed out to clear the giant tires and some of outer quarter panel has been trimmed to allow some of the original look. I did not want to tub it.
* The body is in good overall condition and has some panels replaced like one rocker and one of the quarter panels. It does however have some body filler in one of the rockers and front of the fenders.  The tilt front needs a little more body work to be as good as the rest of the car, but its not to bad. The floors are now all flat steel.
* The tilt front is all steel and can be opened using one hand. Has a quick disconnect for the lights and can be removed easily. The hood can also be removed with screws holding it on.
* Summit epoxy primer was used for the exterior finish sealing it up. So if someone wants to paint the car it would not be a huge ordeal.

The engine was just though and has 54 miles on it. The transmission may have 200 miles or so on it. There is not much on the car that isn't fairly new or hasn't been replaced it the last few years.
This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the action early unless the reserve is met, then it will run to the end.

The wet spots under the car in the pictures are from condensation from the exhaust. It was 15 degrees out when I took the pics

2015 Ford Mustang specs revealed, GT to pack 435 HP

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

The 2015 Ford Mustang sounds great so far - at least on paper. Ford has just announced specs for the latest version of the iconic pony car in Dearborn, telling Autoblog that it will pump out as much as 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque from its 5.0-liter V8.
Those gaudy figures power the naturally aspirated GT model, and they easily eclipse the "more than" 420 hp and 390 lb-ft that Ford originally estimated.
The 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder makes 310 hp and 320 lb-ft, and it's the first turbo Mustang since the 1986 SVO.

Court puts kibosh on apartheid lawsuit against Ford, Daimler

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Ford and Daimler have scored a major victory in a long-running lawsuit filed in US federal court by unnamed South African nationals. The suit alleges that both manufacturers and their subsidiaries sold their vehicles to the South African military, despite knowing that they'd be involved in violently putting down anti-apartheid protesters.
According to Reuters, South African plaintiffs filed the case under the 223-year-old Alien Torts Statute, a law which allows foreign nationals to file charges in US courts for perceived breaches of what was originally international law, but now more closely relates to violations of human rights.
And while the case - which also involves computer manufacturer IBM - has been tied up in federal courts for years, a recent case from the Supreme Court struck down a similar suit against Royal Dutch Petroleum (Shell), arguing that the ATS doesn't apply to corporations or to conduct if it occurred outside the US. In short, the law applies to individuals, but not corporations like Ford or Daimler. A US appeals court ruled that the conditions apply in this case, potentially drawing this long-running saga to a close, as the defendants will now be allowed to request that the case be dismissed in district court.

Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang is a lean, mean, Z/28-fighting machine [w/video]

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

If there's one thing you can count on, it's that the renewed rivalry between the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro will never, ever cease. For every version of Ford's pony car, there's an equally potent Chevrolet. And so with the debut of the Camaro Z/28 earlier this year, Ford has responded with a track-focused 'Stang of its own, resurrecting the Shelby GT350 name.
It looks to be a fine piece of work, this Mustang, with power coming from a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 that will produce "more than 500 horsepower" and "above 400" pound-feet of torque. That grunt runs to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, and a Torsen limited-slip differential keeps everything in line.
But that's hardly the most impressive piece of the GT350 puzzle. Ford has increased the Mustang GT's chassis stiffness for duty here in the Shelby, and the coupe employs MagneRide damping which automatically adjusts based on road conditions and driver inputs. It's a first both for the Blue Oval and for the segment. And speaking of firsts, the GT350 uses a flat-plane crankshaft - something Ford has never included in a production V8 before.
