Here is an extremely rare 1957 Meteor Rideau 500 2 door hardtop. This is the Canadian equivalent to the Fairlane 500. Total production was only 2,254 units. There are only a handful of these cars in restored or nice presentable condition left. This car is an older frame off restoration that has always been garaged and cared for - I believe it was restored in the early 1990's, and was a West Coast car since new. It still presents very well and is a beautiful driver. Paint is very nice with some small chipped areas. It is painted in the original yellow/black/white tri-tone color scheme, but the yellow is brighter than the original Ford color that year. Stainless is intact and shows pretty well -- there are some minor dings and marks in the trim, but still looks very good. Interior is very nice presentable original, with some wear on the driver's seat cushion. Original padded dash and visors are nice. The weatherstripping on the driver's door needs to be adjusted so the door fits the quarter panel a little better -- it seems that the reproduction weatherstrips are a too thick or stiff, and that holds the door out slightly. I am missing the small "Rideau500" trunk script. Very clean inside and out, and is very clean underneath. This Meteor has Master Guide power steering, Swift Sure power brakes, and is powered by a 292 yblock and the 3 speed Ford-O-Matic auto trans. New Diamondback Classic www tires just mounted. It runs and drives out great - I would be confident to drive this car anywhere, and it gathers a lot of great attention where ever it goes, as it is a really striking car. Again, this is an older restoration in excellent condition, and I rate this car as a beautiful driver, but it is not a #1 show car.  I have this car stored in the Vancouver, British Columbia area. Since this car is advertised in other publications and venues, I may end this auction at any time. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Payment is by certified funds. Good luck and happy bidding!

2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid

No Prius Killer
As much as we enthusiasts like to rail on the lowly Toyota Prius as the harbinger of death for all we hold dear, there's no denying the machine's absolute and interminable grip on the hybrid hatchback market in the United States. Toyota has so thoroughly sunk its teeth into the segment that you can clearly hear the automaker's incisors clacking against one another with the conclusion of each financial quarter. And there's little wonder why. Buyers can plop down less than $25,000 and have a runabout that can return up to an estimated 51 miles per gallon in the city, leaving every other entry on the market with precious little gristle to gnaw on.
Enter the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid. With its claimed 47 mpg combined, the funky little hatch from Europe already falls behind the 48 mpg city offered by the Prius, but that marginal sacrifice in fuel economy could be a small price to pay for buyers who want a credible alternative to the stalwart Toyota. Unfortunately, like the Fusion Hybrid, the C-Max Hybrid had trouble even approaching its Environmental Protection Agency estimates during our time with the car.

Ford to hack $4k off price of Focus EV amid slow sales

Wed, 10 Jul 2013

Between slow sales and a hefty price drop for its nearest rival, the Ford Focus Electric may be looking at a pretty substantial price cut. The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will drop the price of the all-electric by about $4,000 to $35,200 to be more competitive with the Nissan Leaf, which received a big price cut for 2013 down to $28,800.
Ford has already admitted to having low expectations for the car's sales and massive rebates were reported earlier in the year, but there is still no official word from Ford on this matter. The company's consumer site still lists the 2014 model's starting price as $39,200. In addition to the Leaf, the Focus Electric will also have to deal with the lower prices of smaller EVs including the Honda Fit EV, Fiat 500e and the Chevrolet Spark EV.

Ford's Mulally makes shortlist for Microsoft CEO

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Ford CEO Alan Mulally has made the short list to take over tech giant Microsoft, lending further credence to rumors that the 68-year-old former Boeing exec would ditch Dearborn and move to Redmond.
The report comes from Reuters, which claims that alongside Mulally, former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and three candidates from within Microsoft are on the short list to succeed Steve Ballmer at the company's helm, although previous reports claim the Ford exec is the number one candidate. Mulally is currently working without a contract, although Bill Ford seems to believe that he isn't likely to depart. Despite this belief, Ford was quoted just last month talking about the depth of talent on the Blue Oval's executive team.
"There is no change from what we announced last November. Alan remains fully focused on continuing to make progress on our One Ford plan. We do not engage in speculation," said Ford spokesman Jay Cooney.
