Here is a 1956 Ford Sunliner convertible project, rough and rusty, including a super solid, rust free AZ 1956 Ford Town Sedan. Make a nice '56 Sunliner from the two cars, or have two really good parts cars. The Sunliner was originally Colonial White over Fiesta Red, with Fiesta Red/White vinyl interior and a black convertible top. There is a yblock in it - not sure if it is a 292 or a 312. Has a Fordomatic auto trans still in it. Most convertible components are still present in the car. Seat springs are partially there but pretty rough - usable for a pattern. Has a decent set of roof bows on it - car steers and rolls. I can't find any data plates on the car, but the VIN numbers should be stamped on the frame front and rear. I will have a look to see if I can find them. There is no title on this car.

Included is a rust free 1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan. Looks to have a 292 yblock mated to a Fordomatic auto trans. The sheet metal on this car is super solid. It also has Master Guide power steering, and a T&C radio in it. I don't have the grill or park lamp housing for the car. Has a data plate on it, but I do not have a title for this car.

I won't part these cars out - will only sell complete. They are also listed for sale outside of Ebay, so the auction here may end at any time. If you have any questions, drop me a line here or contact Greg @ 1-250-640-6479.

Ford only automaker to make 2012 Buzz Rankings, Toyota most improved

Wed, 30 Jan 2013 10:00:00 EST

Ford landed itself a spot among the top 10 brands in the 2012 Buzz Rankings. The annual index scores 1,100 brands in 41 categories to determine which nameplates had the most positive buzz throughout the year.
For the third year in a row, Subway took the top honors overall with a score of 40.3, and Ford was the only automaker to break into the top 25 by earning a sixth-place finish overall. The manufacturer earned a score of 32.1 points, which was enough to push it up one spot from the 2011 Buzz Rankings. Honda managed 21.2 points overall, which is still well behind 25th-place Kohl's at 26.5 points. Toyota, Volkswagen and BMW all round out the top five automakers.
The 2012 Buzz Rankings also keep track of which brands improved the most over the past year, and this year, Toyota was the manufacturer with the largest leap forward. The Japanese automaker jumped from just 14 points in 2011 to 20.5 in 2012. Chrysler, Kia, Dodge and Volkswagen all saw sizable steps forward as well. Be sure to head over to the Brand Index site for more information.

Ford C-Max Solar Energi takes a recharging station wherever it goes

Wed, 08 Jan 2014 08:28:00 EST

Companies ranging in size from small startups to major automakers have been experimenting with solar-powered charging stations for EVs and plug-in hybrids. And, of course, people have been powering vehicles with onboard solar panels for quite some time, too. Still, Ford's new C-Max Solar Energi Concept shows the promise of a truly practical implementation of solar on a production vehicle, and it may not be as far off in the future as we had thought.
As we reported a few days ago, the Solar concept makes use of a "concentrator lens" that focuses sunlight onto the Ford's roof-mounted solar panels. The special lens follows the rays of the sun to maximize the amount of charge being fed to the batteries of the car, taking about a day to fully charge the 21-mile, all-electric range of the C-Max Energi. Ford data suggests that combination might be enough to power 75 percent of all trips made by a statistically average driver. In turn, using the sun to power a vehicle could reduce yearly C02 emissions by up to four metric tons when compared with the driver of an average gasoline-powered sedan.
We've got live images of the C-Max Solar Energi Concept, jauntily tilted on its display to best present it's signature solar panels, straight from the CES floor.

Ford evaluating new Fiesta RS?

Wed, 08 Jan 2014 15:30:00 EST

Word coming in from across the pond has it that Ford is working on developing the business case to create a new Fiesta RS. The development is encouraged by the extremely positive reception the existing Fiesta ST has garnered to date, and the emergence of the above-pictured Fiesta RS WRC rally car, but it'll take more than goodwill to make a more extreme version a reality.
According to Auto Express, a new roadgoing Fiesta RS would almost certainly be based closely on the ST version, albeit with some vital differences. Its 1.6-liter turbo four would be increased from 180 horsepower to somewhere around 230 hp, and that powertrain would be accompanied by lightweight alloys inside blistered wheel arches, a stripped-out interior and possibly lightweight bodywork.
The vehicle's approval would reportedly require a strong business case in Europe, and not just in the UK where Ford hot hatches traditionally enjoy a strong following. It's unclear whether the Fiesta RS would potentially make the transatlantic voyage to American showrooms, but between it and the larger Focus RS, hopefully the Blue Oval wouldn't leave its home market out of the action altogether.
