I am regrettably putting up for sale my 2000 Ford F-350 XLT SuperCab Long Bed. It is fitted with the 7.3l Power Stroke diesel engine, ZF-6 manual transmission and 4x4. I am the third owner of this truck, and have a clean Californian title in hand. The truck is not perfect, but isn’t far from it.

The vehicle is mostly stock, and has been meticulously maintained – I have the receipts for all mechanical work completed under my ownership, and the previous owner. I have used the truck to carry my motorcycles around – the previous owner used it to tow a 8000lb race car trailer. To the previous owners or my knowledge, the engine has never been chipped or towed a 5th wheel.

Truck would make a great work/farm truck, expedition vehicle, base for a camper or tow rig. There is probably not a more reliable Ford Truck ever made than a 7.3 with 6 speed transmission.
As long as I stay under 70mph, I get around 19mpg on the highway.

Vehicle modifications/options

  • Front lift/leveling kit (2.5” lift)
  • Carpet delete interior (hose out floors)
  • Towing mirrors
  • Clear head lights from a 2005 truck
  • Drop in bed liner
  • 18” MB Wheels Aluminum rims fitted with 275/70 R18 highway tires
  • 4” turbo back straight pipe – as vehicle was not originally fitted with a cat, passes emissions
  • Pioneer head unit with a blue tooth car kit to stream music/cell phone calls
  • Warn Premium manual hubs
  • Class IV trailer hitch
  • Camper package (sway bar/overload springs)
  • Hayes trailer brake controller
  • Tinted Windows

Recent maintenance
  • New clutch and clutch system (within 2000 miles) – Ford clutch, master and slave cylinder, machined fly-wheel
  • Full synthetic fluid changes on engine, transmission and differentials (within 2000 miles) – I have only used Royal Purple synthetic in the truck since owning it.
  • Ball Joints (greasable Moogs) around 15,000 miles ago
  • New Batteries (about 10,000 miles ago)
  • New Alternator (about 10,000 miles ago)
  • New tires (about 10,000 miles ago ~80% wear left)
  • New rear springs (less than 1,000 miles ago)
  • Brakes (about 25,000 miles ago ~70% wear left on pads)
  • New front hubs/wheel bearings (about 15,000 miles ago)
  • New parking brake cables and assembly (about 10,000 miles ago)
  • Front driveshaft completely re-built (about 15,000 miles ago)
  • New passenger door window motor (about 5,000 miles ago)

Interior is in good condition, some small discoloration marks here and there if you look close, but nothing major.
Exterior looks great from ~15ft, but if you get close, it does have some rock chips and scratches on the clear coat. There are also two small dings, one on the front bumper, and another (hardly noticeable) on the front passenger side fender which you can see in the photos.

Other things of note is; the power door locks don’t currently work – there is a relatively straight forward (and cheap) fix for them, but I have never needed/wanted them, so didn’t bother, the rear main seal on the engine weeps a bit, it’s not really noticeable apart from the fact that if you park in the same spot all the time it may leave a drop or 2 of oil. Apart from that, all other electrics are working great and the A/C blows (very) cold.

Ford 1.0L EcoBoost 3-Cylinder: Autoblog Technology of the Year award finalist

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

As the old saying goes, "There's no replacement for displacement." But these days, many automakers are launching powerful, downsized engines that offer similar or better power output than their predecessors, all while offering improvements in fuel economy and emissions. These days, we're seeing automakers replacing eight-cylinder engines with turbocharged sixes, and the naturally aspirated six-cylinder motors are being phased out in favor of potent turbo fours. But Ford has gone even smaller, offering a three-cylinder, turbocharged engine with one single liter of displacement.
Sure, three-cylinder engines aren't anything new - they've been offered around the globe for ages. But Ford's EcoBoost 1.0L powerplant is perhaps the best application the Autoblog team has tested. Gone are the triple-cylinder complaints of yore - this engine doesn't sound anemic or buzzy, and there's healthy power output on tap. In fact, compared to the 1.6-liter inline-four that Ford also offers in the Fiesta, the 1.0-liter is more powerful, while boasting an impressive 45 miles per gallon on the highway.
This engine has already received numerous accolades, including winning the International Engine of the Year award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The 1.0L EcoBoost will be available in the refreshed 2015 Ford Focus here in the US.

James Franco and tiger tease Ford Super Bowl commercial

Sat, 01 Feb 2014

Ford has just released a teaser for its Super Bowl ad, and unlike just about every other automaker, it seems that the Blue Oval is going to make us wait until Sunday to see the full spot. The teaser is, um, strange.
It stars James Franco, who believes he is Ron Riggle, the comedian, Fox NFL Sunday host and retired Marine lieutenant colonel. There's also a tiger. The vague spot has Franco claiming that "this is no ordinary commercial." You'll note on the bottom right, there's a Ford logo and the hashtag #nearlydouble.
According to Automotive News, it's part of a massive viral effort being pushed forward by Ford and its dealerships. Ford sent different teasers and "vignettes" to dealership employees and asked them to share them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, in the hopes of creating a viral effect.

2015 Ford Mustang potentially 'leaked' by Car and Driver

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

Few upcoming debuts have been as eagerly anticipated as the all-new Ford Mustang that's expected to debut shortly as the Mustang's 50th anniversary year approaches. Well, Car and Driver magazine would have us wait no longer as it claims to be leaking Ford's new global pony car early.
Of course what you're looking at is just as likely to be a composite rendering based on what C/D projects the new Mustang to look like, but to our eyes it looks spot on. Combining design traits from the Evos Concept with classic Mustang signatures and Ford's Aston-inspired grille treatment, C/D's images - including a complete 360-degree digital navigator - show a Mustang not only for the modern era, but also for global distribution, taking a quintessentially American car to markets its predecessors were never designed for.
Those global considerations are expected to spell the demise of the outgoing Mustang's holdout live rear axle in favor of an independent suspension, and a slight constricting of the exterior dimensions. And thanks to a separate leak, coming from a digital survey, we have apparent confirmation of what will power the new pony car. While the existing 3.7-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 engines will apparently carry over with only slight adjustments in output, the survey confirms a new 2.4-liter turbo four will be positioned in between them, offering slightly more power than the V6 but markedly improved fuel economy for a manageable $560 premium over base.
