You won't find more extras in a lower mileage truck.  Set up for towing the heavy loads.  Rugged steel and oak flatbed with stake pockets.  Has new Ford Severe Duty Transmission with remainder of warranty, cost me 5k. Has 14k on tranny with warranty until Halloween of 2015.  Has tranny temp gauge installed on pillar.  Heavy spring and shock pack with 3" leveling lift kit.  5" exhaust, turbo back.  Over sized drive shafts installed when transmission and tranny cooler were changed.  Newer ball joints.  Tie rods, stabilizer ends and torsion rod done last year.  Two year old brakes and calipers.  Marathon lifetime camouflaged seat covers. Converted newer style head lights and turn signals.
Now for the motor. I have a pile of the paper work and warranty on file. This truck has very low miles.  Put maybe 3k a year on.

Now for the motor.  Brand new oil cooler and gaskets installed last week($400).  Has Beans diesel custom injector driver module, stage 1 fuel injectors, and 6 position chip.  Set up for towing and economy.  We call this truck the beast.  Stripped turbo pedestal with new gaskets.  Newer power steering gear box, alternator, thermostat, engine control module, valve gaskets, glow plug relay.  Set this truck up to go across America with any heavy load.  I figured taking care of this truck was cheaper than payments on a new one.  Now I have 5 people in my family and we can't fit in it.  Got an older crew cab and need this one gone to help offset the costs.  You will get another 200k out of this truck if you take care of it.

Extras.  The first person that gives me what I'm asking for gets extras that are worth a few thousand by themselves.
2 injector driver modules      Used brake calipers and new pads      Chrome factory front bumper with new valance.   New glow plug relays.   Stereo bracket.
2 engine control modules     Factory headlights and turn signals       Reese 30k fifth wheel hitch #30043 worth 1k.  Also 26k goose neck ball.  Factory oil pan and gasket
1 new injector     Factory turbo pedestal    tranny shift control module.  My stock of filters, belts and supplies for truck.  Whatever else I can find in the garage.
Cab corner and rocker panel for drivers side.
If no one gives me my asking price I will list these items separately. Take advantage of the package deal and my parts hoarding.  This truck is worth more in parts content than my asking price.

What it needs.  The glow plugs failed a couple months ago.  Replaced the relay but that didn't get it.  Just been plugging in the block heater since.  Also the drivers cab corner and rocker panel are rusted.  These are the only rust spots on the truck.  I undercoat twice a year and hotsy it clean several times a year.  I have the replacement panels to be installed.  Make me an offer and I might be convinced to install them.

Everything on truck works as it should.  Only maintenance item needed will be glow plugs.  Block heater was used for the remainder of this winter.

Justin Bell makes a horrible policeman

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

If you're wondering what type of person makes a good police officer, it seems a racecar driver doesn't. Let us rephrase that: Justin Bell, a racecar driver and the host of Motor Trend's World's Fastest Car Show, recently got behind the wheel of a 5.0-liter Ford Mustang police car with Sergeant Daniel Shrubb, co-founder of DRAGG (Drag Racing Against Gangs and Graffiti), and proved that his high-performance-driving skillset is a bit too aggressive for police duty.
While it's easy to get carried away in a Mustang GT, a patrol car driver must maintain some sort of restraint while pursuing a criminal, so as not to come off as a reckless driver to the public. We'll admit, some pursuit techniques are counter-intuitive to performance driving (stay off the gas in a lane-change exercise?), but Bell's judicious use of the handbrake can't be normal procedure.
Watch "The One With The Ford Mustang 5.0 Police Car" (yes, we caught the Friends reference too) below to see some shenanigans in one of Michigan's finest patrol cars.

Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.

Ford builds one-off 50th anniversary Mustang Convertible for charity

Thu, 08 May 2014

At the New York Auto Show this year, Ford revealed a special-edition Mustang to honor the iconic pony car's 50th anniversary. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples will be made, all of them fixed-roof coupes. But the Blue Oval automaker has just announced that it's also building a single 50 Years edition convertible that it will raffled off for charity.
The first production example of the new Mustang Convertible to roll off the line this fall, this one-off will pack many of the features on the 50 Years coupe, including its white paintjob, chrome trim, aluminum dashboard, two-tone upholstery, contrast stitching, special 19-inch wheels and special-edition badging throughout.
This unique cabrio will also be fitted with a special performance pack including Pirelli PZero rubber, Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential to help get the 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque from the 5.0-liter V8 through the six-speed manual transmission and down to the road. It'll also feature a serial plaque with the number 0001 of 0001 and chairman Bill Ford's signature.
