Loaded 2001 Ford F150 Lariat Supercrew 4X4. Truck runs great and is loaded. Truck is Black w/ charcoal Leer topper and tan leather interior (people have said it's a sharp looking truck). Truck has power moon roof, adjustable pedals, tow package, power driver seat, cd changer, am/fm, cassette, cruise, air, tilt, power windows, power locks, power steering, power mirrors, trip computer, bed liner, leather interior, and much more. Truck has only 114,000 miles. This truck is in decent shape but has some dings and scratches mostly from brush while negotiating the narrow SD roads pheasant hunting. Overall though this truck is in nice shape and runs and drivers well. I just replaced the front brakes and drivers side hub assembly. Slight chatter in the rear if it sits for a few days.  Mechanic says this is the limited slip differential (only happens turning at slow speeds) and just needs slip agent added. This truck is in Kelley Blue Book " which makes it's private party value just over $10,000.

  • Has some repairable cosmetic defects and is free of major mechanical problems (yes)
  • May need some servicing (maybe)
  • The paint and bodywork may require minor touch-ups (not really required, but could use a little touch up- black is easy to match:))
  • The engine compartment may have minor leaks (none on this truck)
  • Has only minor rust, if any (true, surface stains on bottom of the doors)
  • The body may have minor scratches or dings (a couple- threw a 6" piece of 2x4 for the dog, bounced off a tree and hit the truck- dumb)
  • The interior has minor blemishes characteristic of normal wear (true)
  • Wheels may have minor repairable scratches or scrapes (true- pretty good- a little surface rust)
  • All tires match and have at least 50% of tread remaining (Back tires should go on front and new on back before winter- didn't rotate)
  • Though it may need some reconditioning, it has a clean title history and will pass a safety and smog inspection (true)
  • Some service records are available (always used synthetic oil and kept in garage)

Muscle wins big at 2013 Amelia Island Concours as 1936 Duesenberg, 1968 Ford GT40 take top honors

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The 18th-annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance took place this past weekend, and in one of the show's biggest years yet (bringing in more than 25,000 spectators and attracting more than 300 vehicles), two powerhouses ended up winning the judges' hearts. The top Concours d'Elegance award went to a 1936 Duesenberg SJN, while the Concours de Sport went to one of the celebrated marques, a 1968 Ford GT40.
Owned by Helen and Jack Nethercutt of Sylmar, CA, this flawless Duesy is described as "one of the most powerful open cars of the 1930s," and it displays design cues of the era like rolled fenders and a tapered rear end. The SJN's supercharged straight-eight allowed it to accelerate to 100 miles per hour in just 17 seconds - surely not a disappointing feat for its day.
On a much different level of performance and timelessness, this Gulf-livery GT40 from the Rocky Mountain Auto Collection is not outdone by the elegance of the big Duesenberg thanks to some well-documented racing history. This not only includes winning at LeMans in both 1968 and 1969 - Chassis No. 1075 also managed to win a total of six times in just 11 races.

Ford bringing production F-150 to Detroit with Atlas styling and Alcoa blast shields

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

According to a report in Bloomberg, the 2015 Ford F-150 will indeed be showing up at the Detroit Auto Show next month. It will bring attitude with it, not only in the form of sheetmetal inspired by the Atlas concept (pictured) that appeared at the 2013 Detroit show but also in the Alcoa military blast shields among the display being used to showcase the ruggedness of aluminum.
There's been a lot of talk about the F-150 switching to aluminum body panels (although maintaining a steel frame), and for good reason. The lightweight body is expected to shed more than 700 pounds and greatly increase its highway mileage, but production-line issues and possible delays have been a major focus of attention concerning the best-selling vehicle in America for 32 years, meaning Ford has to get it right. F-150 is responsible for a massive portion of the company's global profits and it will come in a year when company profits are already predicted to decline because of new car launches.
When it comes to dings, the Bloomberg story says Ford wants Alcoa to supply some of the military-grade aluminum it uses for blast shields on battlefield vehicles to help it talk up the toughness of aluminum. Reading commentary on the many stories about the F-150 reveals there are many more little questions about the aluminum overhaul, like "How much will it cost to repair and insure?" and "How will companies hang their magnetic signs?" Answers should start coming in a couple of weeks.

American automakers fall in latest Fortune 500 rankings

Fri, 10 May 2013

Not that it means anything beyond bragging rights, but if you're fixated on the positions of domestic automakers on the annual Fortune 500 list, both General Motors and Ford are still on it but they've slipped a couple of notches. The list ranks American companies and they're ordered solely by revenue. GM, fifth last year, came in seventh, while Ford fell from ninth to tenth even though both companies saw small gains in annual revenue.
GM's $152.3 billion in revenue was less than a third of that of the first company on the list: Wal-Mart, which regained the title from Exxon Mobil. Berkshire Hathaway and Apple are the firms that moved GM down. Ford, displaced by energy company Valero, had $134.3 billion in revenue.
On a side note, profitability isn't a factor, but both GM and Ford were down in this year's list compared to last year's: GM declined from $9.2 billion to $6.2 billion, Ford fell from $20.2 billion to $5.6 billion. If profits were included, Exxon Mobil would probably still be king: although the energy company made almost $20 billion less in revenue than Wal-Mart's $469.2 billion, it posted $44.9 billion in profit compared to Wal-Mart's $17 billion.
