It has small scratches and minor dings. The tires are road worthy but have some surface tears in side wall. When the tail gate is lowered there is a horizontal metal strip which has rusted through. Tail gate and bed works without issue. The A/C is ice cold but works only on the high fan speeds. The power door locks unlock the drivers side not the passenger side. All else works as it should, Truck runs great."

This has been my truck since 2000 when I purchased it new here in NJ.  It has served me well, I hauled my carpentry tools in it back and forth from the Princeton area to Staten Island. I needed a van for more tool storage which is why I'm selling it. This PU truck has never been driven by anyone else but me and I treated it kindly. It has never been in any kind of an accident nor has it seen a flood. It is very clean inside and out. You can still see a shadow of my business logo on the drivers and passenger door. If you are applying a logo or partial wrap to the door you will no longer see it. The engine runs perfectly with no leaks or hesitation. Its strong and steady. I have a heavy duty 2" hitch on the truck and the hookups for your trailer lights. I primarily used the hitch for a T like bed extender to carry very long lumber, never pulled anything heavy with the truck. 4 wheel drive works great and is operated by a knob on the dashboard. Its electronic and fully automatic. The interior is free of any tears or defects. The carpets have been protected by tub type heavy duty mats that hold quarts of water. The mats are fitted for this truck and are easily removed or changed the carpet underneath is like new. Radio sounds great. No mechanical noises coming from the truck that shouldn't be there accept a rattle from a loose heat shield. The bed is lined with a tough liner and there is a nice roll away cover from TruXcedo that uses industrial hook and loop closer. Breaks are recently (12mo) changed.

Here are the defects:
  • It has small scratches and minor dings as you would expect from a vehicle born in 2000. The body is in great condition other wise.
  • The tires are road worthy and have good tread but have some surface tears in side wall.
  • One of the rear tires has a slow leak
  • When the tail gate is lowered there is a horizontal metal strip which has rusted through in two spots. This doesn't seem to affect anything.  Tail gate and bed works without issue.
  • The A/C is ice cold but works only on the high fan speeds.
  • The power door locks unlock the drivers side not the passenger side.  They lock both doors.

Ford F-100 'Snakebit' shown off by Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed at SEMA

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Ford, along with KISS bassist Gene Simmons and his wife, Shannon Tweed, used SEMA as a backdrop to pull the covers off Snakebit, a 1956 Ford F-100 pickup truck that's been updated with Shelby Mustang-derived styling bits and a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine. All 550 horsepower are funneled through a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels.
Underneath the custom bodywork sits a chassis that's been stretched five inches and a bed widened and bedecked with billet machined pieces that are supposed to look like wood. The 20-inch rear and 18-inch front wheels ape those of past Shelby Mustang models. The interior is swathed in two-tone leather with a bench seat designed to look - try to act surprised - like a Shelby Mustang.
Like what you see? Bidding for the truck will take place in 2014 at an unspecified Barrett-Jackson event (we'd assume Scottsdale). Proceeds will be used to help build a children's hospital in Saskatoon, in the province of Saskatchewan, where Ms. Tweed grew up. See the high-res gallery above and the press release down below for more.

Jay Leno drives postcard-perfect '32 Ford Highboy Roadster

Mon, 25 Aug 2014

At the turn of the century, it was arguably the Honda Civic that best defined inexpensive performance tuning, and in the '50s it was the Tri-5 Chevys. One of the earliest platforms to gain a huge following among young people looking for a cheap way to go fast was the classic '32 Ford Highboy Roadster. This week, Jay Leno's Garage looks at one of the very first vehicles that defined the look of the hot rod heyday.
This '32 Ford was built in the '40s and graced the cover of the fourth issue of Hot Rod Magazine back in 1948. All of the hot rods that you see shining at car shows today owe a serious debt of gratitude to this roadster. It bears all of the cues that define the look, including a notched frame and hidden door hinges. Under the three-piece hood is a flathead V8 boasting all sorts of period modifications, including copper cylinder heads. It was seriously fast in its era too, and proved it by reaching 112.21 miles per hour on a dry lakebed in 1947.
These days, this hot rod is on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Although, if you can't make it to California to see it, the United States Postal Service is celebrating this Ford with one of its two hot rod Forever stamps. Like Jay says in the video, in terms of hot rodding, "it all comes back to this." Check out the video to learn more about this rolling piece of tuning history.

Ford and GM link bonus checks to quality scores

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

The poor first quarter earnings of Ford and General Motors are having an effect all the way up the food chain. Both automakers struggled with recalls in the first three months of the year, and, according to The Detroit News, they have responded by increasing the percentage of bonuses tied to vehicle quality for salaried workers, including top executives.
GM announced that 25 percent of bonuses (up from 10 percent) for all salaried workers would be tied to its vehicle quality standards. The automaker revealed in its financial report that it spent $1.3 billion on recall-related repairs in the first quarter, and net income was down 86 percent.
Ford also increased the quality proportion of bonuses for about 26,000 salaried workers all the way up to CEO Alan Mulally from 10 percent to 20 percent. The company announced in its report that the amount paid out in warranty and recall claims was about $400 million higher than expected in the first quarter. Its net income fell 39 percent from the previous year. "The change reflects how critical quality is to our overall business," said spokesperson Todd Nissen speaking to Autoblog.
