Up for auction is a very very nice 1969 Ford f100 shortbed.  I have owned this truck for eight years and was my daily driver for six of them.  About two years ago I decided to strip it and repaint it with the intent of keeping the truck.  It sat in the garage in pieces for months because I ran out of time to work on it.  I don't have the room for the truck so I have to sell it now that I have finally put it all back together.  This truck has a ton of new parts....I'll try to list all of them at the end.  It has a great running 302 V8, a rebuilt C4 automatic with a B&M shift kit, and the factory locking rear end.  This truck runs and drives great!  Power steering works very well, the engine is a little cold-natured but runs very strong and the transmission shifts like a champ. The body is very solid, and the interior is very nice. Truck still has the original dash pad that's still soft and crack-free.  While not a perfect truck, this is a great driver that is extremely presentable at a show.  I stripped this truck down to the point it was just a cab and rolling chassis, repainted it Wimbledon white using Urethane Enamel, replaced all the rubber, and reassembled the truck. This truck has dual exhaust with glass packs and sounds very good.  Carburetor is rebuilt and is the factory Autolite 2 bbl.  List of new parts is as follows:

blower motor for the heat
heater core
heater control valve
heater hoses
radiator hoses and bypass hose
oil pump and pickup screen
engine gaskets
remachined heads with new valves, guides, seats and springs
valve lifters and pushrods
timing cover
crane cams double roller timing chain and gear set
temperature sender
oil pressure sender
power steering hoses
fuel lines
fuel pump
water pump
cooling fan (aftermarket stainless)
thermostat and housing
vacuum lines
distributor
spark plugs and wires
alternator
voltage regulator
starter
starter solenoid
exhaust gaskets and head pipe donuts
exhaust hangers
air cleaner assembly
factory Ford PCV hose and PCV valve
radius arm bushings
coil springs
front and rear shocks
Bendix front brake drums
brake shoes, hardware and hoses
wheel cylinders for the brakes
brake master cylinder
steering column coupler (rag joint between column and box)
steering column bearings
turn signal switch
wiper switch with delay wiper unit installed
fuel level sending unit
windshield gasket
windshield
rear window glass gasket
door weatherstrips
firewall pad updated to molded ABS plastic style with additional insulation
carpet
cloth and vinyl seat upholstery
door panels
armrests
glove box liner
glove box "Ranger" emblem
instrument cluster bezel and lens
dome light lens and door pin switches
exterior door handles and mounting pads
front and rear bumpers
parking lamp lenses front and rear
sylvania silverstar headlamps
transmission modulator valve
motor and transmission mounts
u joints

I'm sure there are a couple things I have replaced that I am forgetting to mention.  As I was driving this truck and for the time it was off the road I had been amassing parts for it so putting it back together was almost like being on the assembly line when it was built.  This truck will make someone a really nice ride to enjoy and show off. It is titled in my name in the state of North Carolina, so no paperwork worries! Any questions please message me and I will respond promptly. This truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end auction early.  Buyer is responsible for pick up or transportation arrangements.

Drive Ford's new Mustang in Need For Speed Rivals

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

If waiting for the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang to hit dealerships is just too tall of an order, you'll be happy to hear that there is now an alternative means of getting behind the wheel of America's favorite pony car. The Mustang is making its video game debut in Need For Speed Rivals.
"We worked closely with the development team at EA to provide them with engineering data for the new Mustang, several months before we showed it to the rest of the world," said Ford product licensing manager Mark Bentley. "Computer design models enabled the game developers to create an accurate representation of the new Mustang before it goes on sale."
Players will have access to five unique designs for the Mustang, allowing a degree of individuality beyond solid colors and decals. According to Digital Marketing Manager Andrea Zuehlk of Ford, those designs are drawn from the four most popular designs on the Mustang Customizer, an online, mobile and tablet app that allows the public to design their own custom Mustang. A fifth design, penned by drift racer Vaughn Gittin, Jr., is also available.

Evo grabs Ford's Fiesta R5 rally car by the scruff

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

Evo and host Henry Catchpole were thinking of excuses reasons to borrow the bonkers Ford Fiesta R5 rally car for a day or two, when it struck them: the car is street legal. With access to the R5, some of the world's most beautiful driving roads in the English Lake Country nearby, and a handy video crewing hanging around, the plan seemed to write itself.
Based on the resulting video, it was a good plan. Without spoiling the video for you - something we can't really do in text as the best part is listening to the rally car run - Catchpole finds the Fiesta to be sublimely quick and massively satisfying. Even taking the car for a spin on a pseudo rally stage, after leaving the English countryside, does nothing but add to his assessment of the beastly little Ford. Scroll on below to see for yourself, and enjoy the ride.

The fascinating forgotten civil defense history of Mister Softee trucks

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. Click over to Throwin' Wrenches for the full run down of how Mister Softee would have stepped in to help fight if the Cold War ever turned a little hotter.
