SELLER REMARKS

With the ability to handle the biggest of big blocks, rear-wheel-drive, a reasonable power-to-weight ratio, and minimalist interiors, pickup trucks are the new muscle cars. This 1965 Ford F100 kind of proves the point, what with a 390 under the hood, fat radials out back, and a pugnacious stance that clearly advertises its performance intentions.

In the years before pickup trucks grew into personal luxury vehicles, they offered tidy proportions that work quite well with a few custom touches. This Ford has a great look, especially with the bright white paint job that seems to highlight the interesting sheetmetal that Ford built into every one of its trucks. Dig the aggressively flared front fenders, the clamshell hood, and, of course, those fat fenders out back that are a big part of the look. Finish work is very good all around, and while this truck may have led a blue collar life at one time, it doesn't show it. There's still plenty of chrome, including a nicely finished front bumper, a cool grille and oversized side mirrors that suggest this truck is still ready to get the job done. The bed is lined in diamond plate and the inner fenders were custom made to handle the oversized rear rubber that gives this truck its aggressive look.

Using gear from a late-model is always a cool way to update your old hauler, and this F100 uses a gray cloth bench seat from a recent F150, complete with power lumbar support and a center armrest. Matching material was used on the door panel inserts to tie it together quite neatly, and the floors are rubber mats so it's still easy to keep clean. A replica Cobra wood-rimmed steering wheel actually looks right at home in the pickup truck's cabin, and the dashboard suggests that this truck's goals go beyond a trip to Home Depot. There's a big Auto Meter tach on the steering column, complete with shift light, plus a set of auxiliary gauges neatly installed on either side of the original instruments and an external fuel pressure gauge just ahead of the windshield in proper racer fashion. Pioneer supplied the AM/FM/CD stereo head unit, which feeds a pair of speakers in the doors, and with sound deadening materials used in the cabin, it actually sounds quite good.

That racer look isn't just for show, either, because under the hood there's a 390 cubic inch V8 that's been built for combat. Bored .060 oversize and fitted with a set of 427 medium-rise heads, an Edelbrock intake and 850 CFM Holley carb, long-tube headers, plus a massive Lunati camshaft with .600" of lift, this sucker cackles like it just escaped from someplace dark. The engine bay is tidy and easy to service, which is surely the intent, and it's backed by a built C6 3-speed automatic with a shift kit and a 4000 RPM stall converter. Combined with 4.11 gears in the 9-inch out back, it leaps off the line and pulls like no pickup you've ever driven. Traction bars try to plant the power, with the 295/50/15 rear BFG radials doing their best to hang onto the pavement.

2. Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. Streetside Classic Cars reserves the right to end its auctions early or to cancel bids solely at its discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.

3. The winning bidder is required to contact Streetside Classic Cars within 24 hours after the close of the auction to finalize the details of the transaction.

4. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's close. This deposit reserves the vehicle and removes it from the market. Acceptable payment types for deposit are: credit card, wire transfer, cashier's check, and money order.

5. If winning bidder does not contact Streetside Classic Cars and submit deposit within 48 hours of auction close, vehicle may be made available to the next highest bidder or another qualified buyer on a first come, first serve basis.

7. Please be aware that all pre-owned vehicles, regardless of age, mileage, or manufacturer are subject to cosmetic wear and mechanical failure. 9. Final or winning bid price does not include shipping, tax, title, or registration fees. It is the purchaser's responsibility to provide for any state or local taxes and shipping expenses resulting from the sale.

10. We can assist you in delivery through our network of private and commercial carriers. Most of them can deliver the vehicle to your driveway. We assume no responsibility for damages or delays incurred once a vehicle is in a shipper's custody.

On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. Crowdsource funding push on to save historic Ford buildings

Detroit has no shortage of old, abandoned buildings, both within the city and in the surrounding communities. Few, though, have the historical significance of the old Ford Highland Park facility. Home to the very first moving assembly line, Highland Park was designed by the legendary Albert Kahn, and was one of the homes of the Model T.
Now, the Woodward Avenue Action Association is attempting to buy both the 40,000-square-foot admin building, which is located off the historic Woodward Avenue, and an 8,000-square-foot garage. The WAAA's goal is to convert the buildings into an automotive heritage center. The Detroit News spoke to the interim director of the WAAA, Deborah Schutt, who commented, "[Metro Detroit has] not been very good at telling our own story. So we've decided, let's pull everything together and tell our story."
The WAAA made an offer of $550,000 to buy the two buildings, and has $400,000 from the Michigan Department of Transportation and another $15,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. It's trying to raise a further $125,000 through crowd-sourcing, starting a campaign called "Five Dollars A Day," after old Hank Ford's $5-per-day wage for line workers.

If a college student is caught smuggling drugs across the border, one might think the kid got what was coming to him. But when a Mexican student at the University of Texas in El Paso was caught by Border Patrol agents with duffel bags filled with marijuana in his trunk, the man used a classic excuse: He claimed they weren't his.
While a claim like that is almost unbelievable, Ricardo Magallanes, the student, is now suing Ford for handling its vehicles' key codes negligently enough to allow drug smugglers to break into his Ford Focus and stash the drugs, The Daily Caller reports. The twist here is that four other people who lived in Juarez and worked in El Paso were involved in the same type of scheme - allegedly unwittingly, just like Magallanes - and all the cars were Fords except one model from General Motors. FBI agents also found an employee at a Dallas Ford dealership that had accessed the key codes to all four of the cannabis-stuffed Fords.
While we all may not own Fords, the case still causes us slight paranoia. We'll definitely be checking our trunks before we cross any more international borders.
