1975 FORD 1/2 TON 4X4 RANGER.

There are a lot of these old fords out there for sale, but the majority of them are beat, rusty, abused or all of the above. I've owned many and look for them all the time and rarely see them for sale this clean. It is especially to find a 4x4 in this solid. There are more clean 2wd's out there but the 4x4's were generally used hard as they were intended to be. The truck is mostly original, solid, and straigh. It runs great and has the V8 with automatic transmission. This was an old grandpa truck and still has the original hubcaps. This is a great ford to drive as is but a perfect candidate for an easy restoration.

I HAVE MANY MORE PICS AND A VIDEO OF THE TRUCK IN A LINK I CAN SEND YOU. EBAY HAS CHANGED IT'S POLICIES AND I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO PUT THE LINK IN THE LISTING NOW.

MECHANICAL

The truck runs great. The motor is most likely the original engine. It has the 360 V8. It does not smoke at all. No major leaks but has the usual seepage as most this old do. No noticeable dripping leaks. Runs smooth and cool. No water in the oil or anything like that. Oil pressure drops when warm but is still in the normal operating range. I'm sure the motor has many miles left to go, but it isn't new. It has no knocks or ticks. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to change all the fluids and do plugs/wires/cap/rotor and the other usual tuneup stuff. I don't know that it needs any of those things, but I don't know the last time they were done. Choke needs adjusted a bit but works. Starts up every time. Automatic transmission works fine. This ford has the full time 4x4. It works as it should. I know they are somewhat easy to convert to part time. I always liked them because they are similar to all wheel drive and you don't have to worry about swapping ends when it's slick. This has powersteering and brakes. No air. The ford drives good and has BRAND new tires. Less than 20 miles on them. Headlights, heater, wipers, turnsignals, etc. still work. This has a cd player and I never tried it but the lights work so it may work.  Gearing is most likely 3:50 ratio judging by how it goes down the road. I've had probably 20 or more old fords like this and I'm sure that is probably the ratio or close to that. Speedometer works and all other gauges. Exhaust is newer. Only three hubcaps are included.
That's all that it came with.

BODY

The body is very straight and has no rust. No bondo. This pickup was originally green. It was professionally painted in 1977. There is no sign of filler at all and it's obvious that the paint job is almost as old as the pickup. The interior, jams, under hood, pretty much everything was repainted red. Interior was green and painted black at the time with vinyl paint. It's wearing through after 37 years. The inside of the box is not dented and looks to have been used lightly. Box, tailgage, cab, floors, cab mounts, hood, roof, firewall, fenders, inner fenders, doors, frame etc. etc. are in nice shape. Pictures in the link show the underside of the cab. Nothing that may look like rust, is rust. It is just dirt or undercoating peeling off. This truck is as dry as you'll find.

INTERIOR

The interior is in usable condition but has the usual wear of an unrestored pickup this old. The seat has been recovered at some point. Floormat, headliner, dash, and doorpanels are usable. Dash is uncut with exception of cd player being put in.

OVERALL

This truck is in good shape and I know they don't come along very often this solid and original. The f100's are really getting harder to find than highboys. I like highboys also, but they have lower gearing and ride rougher. I would cruise this truck as-is. It is also is a a great candidate for an original restoration.

Ford reveals EcoBoost-powered Riley prototype for Daytona 24

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

It's not the first time Ford has participated in the Daytona Prototype class as an engine supplier, but in revealing this new EcoBoost V6-powered Riley Technologies prototype for the new United SportsCar Championship, Ford is making a statement: "We want to show Ford EcoBoost's capabilities as an engine that provides both performance and fuel economy, on and off the track," says Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing.
In addition to supplying the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6, Ford had its production designer Garen Nicoghosian give the racecar brand-inspired design cues with support from Ford Racing chief aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus.
The car is scheduled to compete at next year's Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 25-26, but before that, Michael Shank Racing is working with Ford at another goal. Driving his Ford Thunderbird, NASCAR champion Bill Elliott set the track's top speed record at 210.364 miles per hour during a qualifying run for the Daytona 500 - way back in 1987 -- and Ford thinks it's about time for that record to fall. What better time the introduction of this new Ford-powered Daytona Prototype? Michael Shank Racing plans to use the twin-turbo V6-powered racer to beat Elliott's record, and it expects to begin prepping for the top-speed run on October 9. Scroll down for the full press release below on Ford's latest race effort.

Ford Transit production fires up, American Pickers among first takers

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

Not long ago, the History Channel showed a seemingly unending stream of World War II documentaries, but it made a switch a few years ago to include an increasing mix of 'reality' programming. American Pickers was one of the early attempts at this new formula, with cameras following hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz around the country in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter as they tracked down collectibles and "rusty gold" for their Iowa shop, Antique Archeology. The show has since gone on to become one of the channel's most popular programs.
Starting in the new episode airing tonight, the affable hosts will swap their Benz for a 2015 Ford Transit, a nicely timed bit of marketing to coincide with the launch of the model's assembly at the Blue Oval's Kansas City Assembly Plant, which also kicks off this week. Ford is touting 2,000 new jobs created as part of its $1.1-billion investment in the plant.
No strangers to product placement, the guys from American Pickers say their switch away from the Sprinter is because they wanted to balance cargo capacity and fuel economy to make the most of their cross-country jaunts. They opted for the largest Transit available with a long wheelbase, extended body and high roof, giving them 487 cubic feet of cargo room. Hauling power comes from a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel engine with 190 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque and a six-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. Fittingly, the van wears the same Antique Archaeology logo over white paint as their old Sprinter.

Why Ford's Alan Mulally would be right for Microsoft, or any company

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

That Mulally was seriously being considered says a great deal about Microsoft and Mulally.
It appears that the chatter about Ford CEO Alan Mulally possibly leaving early to take over as CEO of Microsoft is losing air pretty fast. What's pretty interesting is that it got any traction in the first place.
