The suspension has been lowered with Crown Suspension drop brackets in the rear and modified leaf springs to achieve a 6" drop. In the front Crown Suspension lowering springs and "dream beam" drop I-beams have been installed for 5" of drop. The braking system has been upgraded with power disc brakes installed up front and an adjustable proportioning valve installed so the driver can adjust the brakes to his or her needs. The interior has been upgraded with a custom blue jean seat cover and matching fabric on the sunvisors. The interior also recieved new medium grey carpet, Sony 300 watt CD player, oil pressure and water temp gauges integrated into the dash for a factory look. The exhaust starts with a set of hedman headers that flow into 2 1/4 aluminized custom dual exhaust that incorporates an "H" pipe and Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. The exhaust exits through the rear fenders via custom fabricated outlets I designed similar to WWII fighter planes. The wheels are a deep offset chrome smoothie with "spider" style center caps to keep it old school! The body is mostly origional paint with beautiful patina, I painted the grille, front bumper and the custom rear bumper the original Wimbleton white to help accentuate the body's patina. rear bumper is off a 1956 F100, I stretched it 8" wider to fit the wider body of the 1966, made custom mounting brackets and recessed the middle for the license plate. Im sure im missing a few things as the list of mods is very long!
On Sep-19-14 at 00:50:18 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention, our logos on the doors are vinyl so they are removable. I can remove them for the winning bidder if desired. We have put about 1500 miles on the truck since it was built, just cruising around and going to shows so it has had all the bugs worked out. I should also mention the truck is going to be featured in Cruis'news magazine this October. If you have any questions and are a serious bidder you can reach me at (616) 443-9121 |

EPA says fuel economy test for hybrids is accurate
Mon, 26 Aug 2013
The EPA says it stands behind its fuel economy test for hybrid vehicles following controversy about the testing process after Ford C-Max Hybrid customers and automotive journalists alike struggled to achieve 47 miles per gallon, the advertised mpg number, Automotive News reports. Ford responded to the issue almost two weeks ago by claiming that a 1970s-era EPA general label rule was responsible for the inaccurate mileage numbers, rerating the C-Max Hybrid's mpg numbers and offering customers rebates. Ford later said it didn't overstate the C-Max Hybrid's fuel economy and that it was surprised by the low numbers.
Ford technically didn't do anything wrong because it was following the general label rule, but agency regulator Christopher Grundler says the automaker was exploiting a loophole when it came up with the hybrid C-Max numbers, and that the testing process remains accurate. The general label rule allows vehicles that use the same engine and transmission and are in the same weight class to share fuel economy numbers, but it doesn't take into account other factors such as aerodynamic efficiency, which affects hybrids more drastically than non-hybrid vehicles. Ford originally used the Fusion Hybrid economy figures for the C-Max Hybrid and claimed the engineers didn't realize that its aerodynamic efficiency would affect fuel economy as much as it did.
How Ford plans to handle insurance and repair questions surrounding new aluminum-bodied F-150
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Building a car out of aluminum has a number of benefits - the lighter weight allows the vehicle to be more agile, more fuel efficient, make better use of its power and be more resistant to dings and dents. The downside to the advanced construction, though, is that repairs are both challenging and expensive. That's troubling for the new, aluminum-bodied Ford F-150, because it's kind of made a name for itself as a rugged, durable work vehicle.
How will the legions of Ford buyers cope when it comes time to insure and repair their new trucks? Well, according to Ford, it's expecting a ten-percent jump in insurance costs for the aluminum-bodied F-150, although Ford's truck marketing manager, Doug Scott, was quick to point out that the F-150 is generally cheaper to insure than its competition from Ram and General Motors. "At the end of the day, that's sort of a wash," Scott told Automotive News at last week's Detroit Auto Show. "We've spent a lot of time and feel very comfortable that that's not going to be an inhibitor."
The other issue facing Ford is the distinct lack of body shops that have the training or equipment to repair aluminum-bodied vehicles. AN cites an estimate from the Automotive Service Association claiming that of the 30,000 independent body shops in the US, less than 10 percent are able to work on aluminum.
Ford to auction Mustang Cobra Jet prototype for charity [w/video]
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Prototypes developed by major automakers typically remain in said company's custody, but every once in a while, one trickles out into private hands. And that's just what we have here. Ford is donating a one-of-a-kind factory prototype for the 2014 Mustang Cobra Jet that will be auctioned off later this month by Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 mated to a T4 competition gearbox, this rare Cobra Jet prototype includes a wheelie bar, chromoly roll cage, Weld wheels, three-link rear suspension, racing brakes, 9-inch rear axle and more. It's painted in a unique satin orange with reflective gray striping scheme, bears the serial number 2014 BJMS CJXX1 and is fully ready for NHRA competition on the drag strip.
To be offered with no reserve on Saturday, September 28, 2013, the Cobra Jet prototype's winning bidder will also receive tutelage at Roy Hill's Drag Racing School in Sophia, NC, along with tours of the Ford Product Development Center, Ford Racing headquarters and Ford Design Studios with Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak. Scope out the video and details below for what could be the ultimate Mustang experience for a good cause.
