1963 all original Ford F-100.  Alright the boring but important stuff.  Long story short this is a daily driver "if you don't mind driving an original 63 pickup around every day".  With manual brakes and manual steering there is no talking on the cell phone or texting while driving.  I have customized mildly mainly for looks and restored all drivetrain components.  Here is the list.

Engine has been rebuilt .030 over, all new bearings, seals, gaskets, freeze plugs, carb, tune-up, custom fit plug wires, chrome single wire alternator, new battery, under hood mounted vacuum gauge.  All engine work professionally done.  Trans is a floor shift four speed which makes this a hard to find truck.  Floor shift looks better and is better to drive, whoever really liked the three on a tree anyhow.  Nothing but fluid change done to trans but no problems either, Front and rear wheel bearings new, all four drum brakes have been rebuilt with new wheel cylinders, and machined drums.  Rear axle is a Ford 9" unsure of gears, with a 223 I-6 gears don't really matter you aint going too fast.  that about does it for the drivetrain.

Interior is all new except paint, blue paint inside is original.  Seat has been recovered in new vynil and then covered in a seat cover.  no holes tears discoloration etc under seat cover.  Gauge cluster is custom one off utilizing original speedo, fuel gauge, sunpro tach, oil psi, water temp.  heat works, no a/c.  blinkers, interior lights, high beams, basically it all works.  Carpet is also new, and insulated underneath for sound and heat improvements.

Bed had the original wood until last week.  In efforts of selling vehicle the bed is under construction but will be done by weeks end.  Pictures of the new wood are just lying in bed,  and the bed isn't sitting on the truck but be assured that the bed will be finished by weeks end with all new wood.  Note didn't skimp on wood, wood is poplar, not oak but I like the grain better and poplar is a hardwood that should stand up just like oak.

The ins and outs, rear cab corners are rusted through and repaired prior to me very poorly.  Fronts and rears of both rear fenders have rusted through spots. Frame has not been restored but is not rusted, only normal surface.  All other areas have been repaired using welded in metal and very minimal bondo.  Very solid truck, in fact good luck finding another like it.

Tires are in very good condition, wheels are also new though the center caps have corrosion.  Basically if your interested you need to come see this truck.

Now that you have made it to the end of the list here is the really cool stuff.  Due to this vehicle being slow yet I want it to be Hot Rod'ish I decided it needed a showstopper quality.  This trucks quality is the ability to throw fire.  There is  a secondary ignition system in the exhaust that when activated causes the engine to misfire throwing fuel down the tailpipes and ignited by the plugs throws fire.  the flames are anywhere from 2-5 ft, and last anywhere from 1-3 seconds each.  Carb is too small to shoot constant flames, but it does very well.

Ford and Chrysler reducing summer plant shutdowns

Wed, 22 May 2013

Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.

Ford ditching Microsoft in favor of BlackBerry QNX for next-gen Sync?

Mon, 24 Feb 2014

Ask the average consumer - at least, those who follow the goings-on in the automotive industry - which carmaker they'd most closely associate Microsoft, and the answer you'd most likely get would be Ford. The Blue Oval automaker, after all, was at the forefront of bringing Microsoft technology into cars with its pioneering Sync system, and, though reality didn't turn out as such, Ford's CEO was recently touted as a potential future head of the Redmond-based software giant. But that relationship, according to the latest reports, could be coming to an end.
Alan Mullaly kiboshed the idea of leaving Dearborn for Redmond, but more importantly Ford is tipped to be ditching Microsoft in developing its next-generation Sync system. In its place, Ford is expected to partner with BlackBerry's QNX division.
Now, before you go balking "BlackBerry?! But they're finished!" consider that QNX is (or at least was) an independent entity that Research In Motion (as BlackBerry's Ontario-based parent company was then known) just happened to have bought back in 2010. QNX provides control systems to everything from nuclear power plants and UAVs to automakers like Audi, BMW and Porsche.

Ford Mustang returning to Australia in 2016

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Australia's Herald Sun newspaper has reported that the next-generation Ford Mustang is heading Down Under in 2016, just as Ford is hanging the "Closed for Good" sign on its Australian manufacturing operations and sending the Falcon to its grave. Ford hasn't offered any official word on the matter, but the paper says that Ford's global VP of sales and marketing, Jim Farley, is flying to Australia to make the announcement himself.
While Ford converted Mustangs in the early 2000s from left-hand to right-hand drive for the Australian market and then sold them at high prices, it's been almost five decades since Ford imported a dedicated right-hand-drive Mustang to Oz. The arrival of the global model specifically made for places like Australia and the UK means Ford will also be able to offer them at better prices than the converted models; the Herald Sun says the price is expected to be "close to $50,000."
And that's for one of the "V8 performance models," which are the only ones Australia will get; Ford apparently won't send the turbocharged four cylinder or the V6. The Aussies could find out in a month from now whether this rumor is true. We will all find out what this Mustang fuss is about when the car debuts at next year's New York Auto Show.
