1956 Ford F-100.  California truck, produced in San Jose.  Spent its life in California until 2000 when I purchased it in totally original condition.  Shortly after purchasing this truck I delivered it to Fatman Fabrications in Charlotte, NC where Fatman himself oversaw the build of my truck.  The truck was repainted its orginal Torch Red color and a tan interior was selected with black carpet.  A Mustang II style IFS Fatman (stage II) stainless front-end was installed into a boxed front frame along with the following components:

  • 320 HP Ford Racing 302 GT-40 Crate engine
  • Edelbrock Performer manifold & 4-barrel carburetor
  • Ford Motorsport Headers
  • Ford Motorsport Starter
  • Holley electric fuel pump
  • Pertronix electronic ignition
  • Cool Craft Aluminum radiator (new in 2012)
  • Ford 4-speed AOD trans. built by TPI Performance with B&M shift kit
  • Lokar Ford AOD kick-down kit
  • Perma-Cool trans oil cooler
  • 9" Ford rear end
  • Flowmaster dual exhaust
  • IDIDIT tilt steering column
  • AutoMeter gauges & clock
  • Vintage A/C-blows cold
  • Electric windshield wipers
  • American Racing Torque Thrust II chrome wheels & BF Goodrich tires
  • All-new wood bed with marine varnish
  • All-new steel bed sides, tailgate & new taillights
  • All-new rear "hugger" style chrome bumper
  • Re-chromed original front bumper & grill
  • New windshield
  • Many other miscellaneous improvements too numerous to list.

This truck has only covered 1,350 miles since it was built/completed in 2004.  It has been started or driven monthly and is adult owned/driven and never smoked in.  It has always been garaged and oil changes completed every 6 months.  Over $60K invested.  Selling to make room in my garage and let someone else enjoy this great truck.

Ford and GM link bonus checks to quality scores

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

The poor first quarter earnings of Ford and General Motors are having an effect all the way up the food chain. Both automakers struggled with recalls in the first three months of the year, and, according to The Detroit News, they have responded by increasing the percentage of bonuses tied to vehicle quality for salaried workers, including top executives.
GM announced that 25 percent of bonuses (up from 10 percent) for all salaried workers would be tied to its vehicle quality standards. The automaker revealed in its financial report that it spent $1.3 billion on recall-related repairs in the first quarter, and net income was down 86 percent.
Ford also increased the quality proportion of bonuses for about 26,000 salaried workers all the way up to CEO Alan Mulally from 10 percent to 20 percent. The company announced in its report that the amount paid out in warranty and recall claims was about $400 million higher than expected in the first quarter. Its net income fell 39 percent from the previous year. "The change reflects how critical quality is to our overall business," said spokesperson Todd Nissen speaking to Autoblog.

Ford Escort Concept goes back to basics

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Here's the thing about China: The folks buying cars there have a very different set of standards than shoppers in many other markets around the globe. While we all drool over hot metal with bold designs, and while we appreciate automakers going an extra step to inject even their cheapest offerings with aggressive and interesting cues, that sort of sheetmetal sex appeal doesn't always sell in the People's Republic. Case in point is Jaguar, which may be designing a more traditional-looking version of its XJ for the Chinese market, or more to the point of this story, Ford currently sells the less-exciting, last-generation Focus compact in China right alongside the new one.
So consider this new Shanghai-bound C-segment concept a preview of what's to come for that more traditional, budget-minded, less-sexy market. More proof of this pudding: Ford's even calling this concept the Escort - a nod to the Blue Oval's compact car days of yore, and a name that stirs up thoughts of basic, affordable transportation rather than great driving dynamics or bold design. "Customers in China described seeking a vehicle that is stylish - but not one that is arrogant or pretentious," Ford states. And this new Escort concept previews a possibility of providing exactly that for this rapidly expanding automotive market.
What you're looking at, then, is one of the most simple Ford designs we've seen of late, though it still incorporates all of the automaker's latest DNA. The signature hexagonal grille is front and center, flanked by attractive LED headlamps and chrome-rimmed foglamp housings. The entire car's design focuses on clean, smooth surfaces, with one strong character line flowing from front to back just below the beltline. We will say that the car looks decidedly more premium from the rear view, where narrow, horizontal taillamps with an LED accent give the car added visual width. Bland as it may be, it's a handsome little concept, though fear what would likely happen if all of the conceptual details get dumbed down for a production model.

Fallon picks Ford F-150 King Ranch, launches dealership contest

Tue, 01 Apr 2014

New truck! Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show has been searching for the perfect new truck for a few weeks now, soliciting help from all corners in the process. Last night, Fallon made the announcement that the Ford F-150 King Ranch - in all of its cowboy glory - had been picked as his big winner.
To add some more spice to a storyline that now dips deeply into the realm of the advertorial, Fallon also announced a contest to see which Ford dealership would get the privilege of selling him the King Ranch. Dubbed "Fingers on a 4x4" The Tonight Show has invited 10 dealer reps from around the country to keep their hands on Jimmy's F-150 for as long as possible. Last salesperson standing wins.
Watch Fallon make his pick and introduce the dealer reps below, and be sure to click on the second video for a live-streaming feed of Fingers on a 4x4 in action (the contest seems to be going strong).
