Listed is a very special 1953 Ford F-100 Pickup. This truck has been meticulously restored by its owner and is as fresh as they come. Turn the key and go!

The body has been freshly painted within the last year and has no damages other than a few very minor paint chips. The color is  PPG 'Sierra Blue', paint code 19188. It is non metallic and looks like a truck of this vintage should. During the restoration any flaws,,which were few and far between, were corrected using new metal or parts where needed. No bondo was used. The truck comes with spare parts including 2 older 1953 Ford wheels that can use the original style dog dish hubcaps and 4 1953 style stainless steel hubcaps as well. All window glass was replaced with tinted glass and installed using new rubber moldings. All weatherstrip on the cab was replaced as well. The owner used sierra blue colored 'bedliner' paint to spray the walls on the pickup box and the insides of the fenders. A very thorough way of covering these areas leaving a tough finish. The oak bed has been completely restored with new oak and stainless steel runners. New polished stainless steel bumpers were installed and dress up the truck. While its not a trailer queen, it certainly makes a stunning appearance that would make its owner proud at any show. The interior has been done over as well. The bench seat is black vinyl and has no problems. The dash and door panels are painted the same as the exterior as they should and look great. The dash cluster is original. The speedometer is working but the owner decided to upgrade the stock oil pressure and temperature gauges with more modern (and accurate) after market gauges that are mounted under the dash. As part of the restoration process, the headliner was replaced with and new, original style one that fits perfectly. Even the dome light and heater work!  The 50th anniversary horn center for the steering wheel is included but the retaining clip has a broken tab and rather than risking damage to it, the owner simply replaced it with a horn button for a later truck. So a new retaining clip could solve the issue. It is super clean inside and ready to go. The body was removed for the chassis during the restoration process. This permitted a thorough cleaning which shows in our pictures. All suspension and front end parts are solid and working as they should. The engine, a 239 Ford flathead with the stock 2 bbl carb was rebuilt and has only 100 or so miles on it. It runs very quietly and cruises at 55 MPH easily. The owner has not wanted to push it further but it is likely that it could do a bit better. It typically maintains 40 lbs. of oil pressure and runs at about 160-165 degrees. It has never overheated since restoration.  It has a 3 speed column shifted.transmission that shifts smoothly. All brake components were re-done and all new wiring, bumper to bumper, was installed. The truck will come with some extra parts such as the 2 wheels and 4 new hubcaps, a fresh air heater, and the side step plates in our pictures. This is a great opportunity to own a freshly restored, classic For F-100 Pickup. 1953 was an iconic year for Ford and this truck epitomizes the style and utility that Ford set out to do with their truck lines and still do. The truck is for sale locally so this auction could end early if sold. We will assist the buyers shipper in getting the truck but the buyer is responsible for arranging the shipping and having the truck picked up within a reasonable time. A $1000..Paypal deposit is required within 2 days of the conclusion of the auction and full payment must be received with 5 business days after the conclusion of the auction.  Payment via bank wire is preferred; Buyer pays Paypal fees for balance after deposit if this payment method is selected.. Ford turns Navistar from truck business customer to rival

Mon, 19 May 2014

There is a showdown brewing in the medium-duty truck segment next year as Ford prepares to launch its all-new, in-house engineered 2016 F-650 and F-750. It finally marks the end of the Blue Diamond joint venture between Ford and Navistar and, making the two entities direct competitors instead of partners.
Ford announced the end of the joint venture in an investor report in 2011, but it didn't reveal the new F-650 and F-750 until the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, in March. Unlike the current, Mexican-built models, the new generation will be built in Avon Lake, OH, starting in mid-2015.
The challenge from Ford comes during a rough patch for Navistar. The company had a $248 million loss in the first quarter, according to The Wall Street Journal, and its medium-duty truck market share is currently down to 26 percent, from 36 percent in 2011. Building the previous-generation Fords brought in about $400 million a year to Navistar, according to the WSJ. To take on its former partner, Navistar plans to offer its International brand of medium-duty vehicles with more engine and transmission options to customers. It even struck a deal with Cummins to put its diesels in some of the models.

Man turns Ford Fiesta into a one-car band

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The one-man band is a rather ridiculous idea, drawing up images of one person attempting to manipulate several instruments, at once, in a vain attempt at creating music. It's usually represented by silly scenes like this. Interestingly, the concept isn't much more successful when the "man" in "one-man band" is replaced with "car," as we see in this video.
It seems that someone rigged up and edited (699 times, we might add) a Ford Fiesta, a bucket, 12 PVC pipes and the natural sounds that a car makes to come up with a song. Now, we don't recognize the tune, so we've no idea if this is a cover or an original piece. And while it's hardly Beethoven, we have to admire the amount of effort the "conductor" went to in his attempt to turn a subcompact car into a musical instrument(s). Take a look (or listen) below for the entire video.

The big dune jump and the damage done

Mon, 20 May 2013

The Silver Lake sand dunes see their fair share of well-built trophy trucks executing impressive jumps. Drivers build insane pieces of machinery for the express purpose of sailing through the air like mad men and women.
Mike Higgins is no stranger to the area. His heavily modified Ford trophy truck has gone flying through the sky on more than one occasion, but he recently bit off more than he could chew. After hitting a particularly lofty dune, Higgins went airborne for a ridiculous 180 feet before becoming intimately familiar with the finer points of gravity.
While Higgins nailed the jump, his landing fell short of wowing the judges. The impact very nearly broke his truck in two. Despite the mechanical mayhem, the driver walked away without a scratch, proving that occasionally miracles really do happen. You can check out the jump and the subsequent destruction below for yourself. Be warned: there's a fair bit of foul language.
