2001 Ford Expedition XLT with 5.4L V8 and 4WD... also has the towing package.

Current West Virginia State inspection - 6/14, June 2014!

We are the second owners of this vehicle and we still have the original documentation included the build sheet/window sticker and the owner's manuals in the glove box. This is not a new vehicle, obviously from the photos, so if you are looking for a ding free, scratch free, stain free vehicle, please keep looking. So here are the "issues" - 1. the Cruise Control is not working, but the mechanic says it is a relay. 2. the rear window wiper is not working... may be the rear motor  3. the passenger fog lamp is working but cocked just a tick - the bracket is bent a little  4. two ends of the running boards gave way when my kids stepped on them, but the brackets should be easy to work on to reassemble.

The Good things are here...

1. Current Inspection

2. The 185K miles are mostly highway miles

3. Towing package - this is an excellent tow vehicle. We use it once or twice a year to tow about 7500 pounds or so. Wonderful power from the 5.4 Liter.

4. Most of the coil packs and the spark plug inserts have been replaced (these engine heads were known to sometimes "spit plugs"). The engine runs like a top.

5. Cold A/C - we just had several parts replaced last summer and the front and rear units work wonderfully.

6. The heater core and radiator have just been flushed this past winter.

7. The tires still have quite a bit of tread left on them.

8. This vehicle has been mechanically well maintained.

9. We are non-smokers and are the second owners of the vehicle.

10. This vehicle will easily seat 8 with the optional rear seat.

11. The 4WD works just as well as the day it rolled off the showroom floor. We use it each winter here in West Virginia.

12. Three years ago we installed a performance exhaust and muffler for better fuel mileage.

The Expedition can be looked at and driven by any prospective buyers... please message us or simply call 540 550-2563 for an appointment. Our church office is very close to I-81 in northwestern Virginia (Winchester).

$500 Paypal deposit due within 24 hours of auction close.

This is an auction to purchase, not to get the chance to look at the vehicle to decide whether or not you want to buy it. The remainder of the payment may be made through Paypal or by a certified bank check. No personal checks will be accepted.

Production Ford Escort heading for Beijing

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Ford's long-dormant Escort nameplate returned affixed to a sedan concept at last year's Shanghai Motor Show. While not exactly a beauty, it showed a clean, straightforward take on Ford's current styling. The Blue Oval said at the time that it wanted to create a model that was stylish "but not one that is arrogant or pretentious." Job done. A year later, it looks like the minimalist vehicle might make its production debut at the Beijing Motor Show.
Autocar claims that the streetgoing version has been confirmed to it for the upcoming show, but so far, Ford isn't saying. If unveiled, the Escort is likely to be produced locally for the Chinese market with a domestic partner. Powertrain details remain a secret, but it seems highly likely that any production model would use a small three- or four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. Sales in other major world markets like ours are unlikely, but a test car was recently spotted in Europe.
Autoblog contacted Ford for confirmation, but the automaker demurred, with a spokesperson saying only, "At the moment, we are not confirming any vehicles planned for the show." It looks like we will have to wait to know for sure.

BMW to follow Honda back into F1?

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

The economic downturn wrought devastating effects on motor racing. Formula One alone lost half its engine suppliers when Honda left at the end of the 2008 season, and both BMW and Toyota followed at the end of 2009. But things are looking up again. Cosworth may have dropped out this season, reducing the engine suppliers to three: Ferrari, Renault and Mercedes, the latter of which admits that it may have left had the engine formula not changed. But Mercedes has stayed and is dominating the championship. Honda is coming back next season. And word around the paddock is it may not be the only one.
According to Giancarlo Minardi - founder of the team now known as Scuderia Toro Rosso - BMW engineers have been conspicuously spotted lately at F1 test sessions and grands prix, lending to speculation that the new engine regulations may entice the Bavarian automaker back into the series. According to Minardi, BMW's marketing division is pushing for the automaker's return to F1, with the board slated to make a decision in May. BMW would be more likely to consider an engine-supply deal rather than taking a team over like it had with Sauber, but with which team or teams it might collaborate remains a big question mark at this point.
As if that's not enough, Ford is said to be considering taking over Cosworth's aborted V6 turbo engine program to take both outfits back into the sport as well. Cosworth supplied F1 engines under the Ford banner for years, but returned under its own name for four seasons from 2010 through 2013 before shuttering its program to develop an engine to meet the new regulations adopted this season.

2015 Ford Mustang Convertible to recreate Empire State Building stunt

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

It would have been all too easy to miss the auto show debut of the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible. It was, after all, unveiled alongside its fixed-roof counterpart at the Detroit Auto Show this past January, lumping coupe and cabrio into one debut. But Ford is evidently still intent on making its new droptop stand out. The top of the Empire State Building ought to do the trick.
Automotive history buffs may recall that, 50 years ago, Ford unveiled its first Mustang convertible atop what was then the tallest building in the world, that Art Deco icon of the New York skyline. Half a century later, Ford is recreating the feat and bringing the new topless Mustang to the same observation deck on the building's 86th floor.
Getting it up there, of course, will be no easy task. While they'd usually airlift the vehicle onto the roof or lift it by crane, the spire protruding from atop the building makes approaching the narrow observation deck too dangerous, and no mobile crane can telescope the thousand-plus feet it would take to get the pony car up there.
