Up for auction is my 2000 Ford Excursion in very good condition. I bought this SUV last year with the hope of getting a lot of use out of it being in the service but after coming home from deployment this spring the unit decommissioned and since I'll be retiring soon I don't have much need for it. it clean inside and out. it does have a few defects but minor stuff and cosmetic mostly. Please take a look at the pictures and you be the judge. The engine is strong and the transmission shifts smoothly, no dash lights are on, tow package, none smoking home and zero pets, zero odors. paid $7,500 last spring and since has had a complete tune-up, and coolant flush. It sat in the garage the whole winter last year while I was out of the country. KC fog lights are blinding bright and the k&n air intake filter is also from last spring. stereo is touch screen, mp3, DVD and accepts up 16gb SD cards. I get a ton of compliments on it everywhere I go... at the pump, on the road, at work, ice cream stop. you name it. the only issues she has are: fender rust spots behind the tires on the lower parts in front of the side steps driver's side and passenger, rust spot on one of the mirror arms passenger side, a small dent on the rear passenger side below the tail light, door light cover is missing, will need front brakes in the near future, one light is out on the sun visor and one on the one of the side steps. but other than that she's ready for winter! This truck is my daily driver so the mileage will change slightly but I'm only 5.5 miles from work so it won't change by much... Reserve is well below kkb which has it at about $7,100 but with the air intake, fog lights, chrome grill guard sun visor and stereo it's worth well over that. I also have 3 18" 18x9 KMC XD Misfit Black rims 8x170 that I will include if it sells for what I paid last spring. They're open box items but never used. They're still sitting in my garage unopened and I paid $100 a piece... otherwise I'll post them on eBay after the truck sells. The reserve is low and I have a 100% feedback so bid with confidence... but please ASK any questions BEFORE bidding! It's available for viewing and test driving in the evenings and weekends. I will also be listing it on Craigslist today for $7,500 with the rims so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time.
Thanks for viewing and happy bidding! |

Ford using robot drivers to test durability [w/video]
Sun, 16 Jun 2013In testing the durability of its upcoming fullsize Transit vans, Ford has begun using autonomous robotic technology to pilot vehicles through the punishing courses of its Michigan Proving Grounds test facility. The autonomous tech allows Ford to run more durability tests in a single day than it could with human drivers, as well as create even more challenging tests that wouldn't be safe to run with a human behind the wheel.
The technology being used was developed by Utah-based Autonomous Solutions, and isn't quite like the totally autonomous vehicles being developed by companies like Google and Audi for use out in the real world. Rather, Ford's autonomous test vehicles follow a pre-programmed course and their position is tracked via GPS and cameras that are being monitored from a central control room. Though the route is predetermined, the robotic control module operates the steering, acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle on course as it drives over broken concrete, cobblestones, metal grates, rough gravel, mud pits and oversize speed bumps.
Scroll down to watch the robotic drivers in action, though be warned that you're headed for disappointment if you expect to see a Centurion behind the wheel (nerd alert!). The setup looks more like a Mythbusters experiment than a scene from Battlestar Galactica.
Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86
Wed, 26 Jun 2013On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.
Next Ford F-150 delayed for aluminum body panel issues?
Wed, 11 Dec 2013The timetable for next-generation Ford F-150 may be in trouble if a report from The Truth About Cars is true. The next F-150 is slated to make extensive use of weight-saving aluminum in its body, but the aluminum alloy provided by suppliers hasn't met Ford's requirements in the earliest phases of pre-production, according to the report.
The F-150 represents a huge portion of Ford's profits and is the best-selling truck in the US, even in the face of increased pressure from cross-town rivals General Motors and Ram. While the current truck is treading water against its competition, we'd be lying if we said the F-150 weren't growing quite long in the tooth.
If production of the next-generation of the Ford cash cow, said to be based on the Atlas Concept from the 2013 Detroit Auto Show (pictured above), is delayed, it could be bad for Ford. Production at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant is already set to be delayed six to ten weeks, missing an internal on-sale deadline of Memorial Day.
