2008 Ford E-350 Handicapped Conversion Van
We bought this van used with around 30,000 miles on it in 2010 and had the handicapped equipment added to it in order to transport my father. It is in fantastic shape overall. It runs and drives great. The body is in excellent condition. There are no known mechanical problems. It has served us well. The van currently has 43,382 miles
The handicapped equipment was purchased from and installed by Mobility Headquarters in Houston, TX. They did a fantastic job and the equipment installed has proven itself. The lift in the side door is made by VMI. It is hydraulic powered by the van's 12V battery. It folds up so that you can safely close the doors. When you want to use it, open the double side doors and automatically fold it down, then lower it with the wired remote. The rider can then either stand on the lift, which has handrails built in, or ride onto the ramp with their standard sized wheelchair or scooter. The ramp itself is 30" wide with a lip on the left and right side, and a lip on the outer edge to keep the chair from rolling off. This lip folds down to allow entry, but folds up and locks as soon as the ramp starts to go up. You can bring the ramp up either with the remote or with a switch built into the left handhold. At the top, the rider can either step off the ramp or roll off the ramp and move on to the inside. Then you fold the ramp up using the remote control.
The rear ramp is made by Harmar Mobility and is made to haul a wheelchair or scooter. It raises and lowers with an electrical motor. It has a remote control. Push a button to bring the ramp back then down, load up your scooter or wheelchair. There are straps included to keep the chair from moving around. Strap it down(or don't, I never did), push the up button and it comes up and into the van, keeping your scooter dry and safe inside.
Seating: Currently, the only seats installed in the van are 2 captains chairs in the front. This auction includes all seats I have for the van. It originally came with 2 bench seats in the rear, which are included. We also purchased used but in good condition captains chairs to install in the rear, which are also included. I believe we paid $750 for the 2 captains chairs we never used. Neither of these options worked for my dad, so we built a bracket out of heavy flatbar and installed a recliner in the rear for him and installed a seatbelt that fit on the recliner. The recliner has been removed from the van. The bracket we built remains, as does the seat belt. You can have the recliner we installed into the van as well if you like. It is large and very comfortable, especially when the van is in motion.
The Engine on the van starts up immediately, runs perfectly, does not smoke, is smooth and powerful, and runs as well as new. The transmission shifts perfectly. The tires are all Michelin LTX M/S 10 ply tires and have around 40% tread left on them. The van drives straight down the road and is surprisingly easy to handle. The A/C works well and is very cold. All controls are in the front, but the rear has a separate blower. The radio is AM / FM / CD. It also has power windows, power locks, driver and passenger airbags, cruise control, RCS, side steps, and a receiver hitch for towing. The seats are comfortable and in great shape. The carpet has a big dirty spot where I am assuming they spilled hydraulic fluid when the side lift was installed. It has been cleaned twice and disappears but comes back after a while. I would venture to guess that one could get it out if done enough times, but it never bothered us that much so we didn't do a lot about it. This is the biggest and really the only defect on the van that I can think of. As I stated, it looks great, operates like an almost new automobile, rides well, and is comfortable to ride in.
The van is located at my business in Carmine, TX 78932. Carmine is directly between Houston and Austin on Highway 290. The van and my business are on Hwy 290, so it's easy to find. I am here almost every day all day, and can meet you pretty well anytime if you want to see it in person. You won't be disappointed. If you have any questions at all, feel free to email me or give me a call on my cell phone at 979-249-6267. My name is Bradley. If I don't answer, leave a message and I will get back to you pretty quickly.

Watch NASCAR racer Brad Keselowski do a burnout... in a hotel conference room
Fri, 08 Mar 2013A vast majority of hotels frown upon smoking inside the building these days, but Brad Keselowski doesn't follow the rules. During his introduction at the 2013 MiilerCoors Distribution Convention, the reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion smoked the tires of his Miller-sponsored Ford Fusion stock car, adding a pair of thick, black stripes to the carpeting of the Marriott World Center's conference room.
This definitely isn't a high-quality video, but it's the perfect vantage point to watch Keselowski lay down some rubber and receive a well-deserved standing ovation after pulling up in front of the crowd. Check out the short-but-sweet video posted below.
Court puts kibosh on apartheid lawsuit against Ford, Daimler
Thu, 22 Aug 2013Ford and Daimler have scored a major victory in a long-running lawsuit filed in US federal court by unnamed South African nationals. The suit alleges that both manufacturers and their subsidiaries sold their vehicles to the South African military, despite knowing that they'd be involved in violently putting down anti-apartheid protesters.
According to Reuters, South African plaintiffs filed the case under the 223-year-old Alien Torts Statute, a law which allows foreign nationals to file charges in US courts for perceived breaches of what was originally international law, but now more closely relates to violations of human rights.
And while the case - which also involves computer manufacturer IBM - has been tied up in federal courts for years, a recent case from the Supreme Court struck down a similar suit against Royal Dutch Petroleum (Shell), arguing that the ATS doesn't apply to corporations or to conduct if it occurred outside the US. In short, the law applies to individuals, but not corporations like Ford or Daimler. A US appeals court ruled that the conditions apply in this case, potentially drawing this long-running saga to a close, as the defendants will now be allowed to request that the case be dismissed in district court.
Ford vandalizes the SEMA Show floor with 2014 Transit Connect
Tue, 05 Nov 2013The Ford booth here at SEMA is practically a 1970s throwback with all these customized vans sitting front and center. And we're completely fine with that. Take the black and yellow (black and yellow, black and yellow) 2014 Transit Connect from Mobsteel above. It's got a great stance, sits on steel wheels and has a pretty cool paint job and graphics package to boot.
Of course, that's not the only van you can see at the Ford booth. In fact, there are 10 Transit Connect vans on display from Ford here at SEMA, and you can see them all in our live gallery of high-res images above. Then, if you want to know more about each specific model, feel free to scroll down to read all about these vans in the official press release from Ford.
