1997 - E350 Super Duty Diesel Turbo Powerstroke Van - This van gets great gas mileage 18 to 21 MPG depending on how you drive. It has the "ambulance package" heavy duty alternator which has been rebuilt (2 seperate positive charging poles, one for engine battery and one for seperate rear deep cycle battery - charges both). Electrically insulated floor.
Custom Aluminum cabinetry and aluminum top workstations all professionally installed. Bench seat on the side in the back which is nice for laying down to take a nap on. Several deep compartments. This was a fleet maintained gas company truck. Electrically isolated floor, still has some of the gas sniffing equipment installed.
The 7.3 diesel engine runs good, has very good oil pressure. The former owner said the transmission was rebuilt 30,000 miles ago. The tires are ok, Cruise works, A/C works but requires occasional recharge. Brand new battery with 2 year warranty. Drives straight, had it on the highway up to 75mph with no trouble. This was a project, we were going to turn it into a diesel passenger van. However we found a good deal on a newer 15 passenger van - that is why this one is for sale. We are asking a little less than what we paid for the van $2300 (price is firm - Kelly Blue Book Value $3500), the drivetrain alone are worth the price. We drove it home from Pensacola with no problems. Approx. 242,000 miles on the fleet maintained engine, 30,000 miles on rebuilt transmission. Sold "as is", cash only, no checks, no shipping, no warranty implied or otherwise. Phone 850-223-1813 Clear FL Title. Located at 1602 Old Dixie Hwy, Perry FL 32348
Here are all of the known issues: Minor rust on back, rear door handle not working. The back window is foggy and the odometer just stopped working, speedometer work fine. Seats have rips, exterior of the van has some bumps and dings. Radio knob is and air blower adjustment knob is loose from use but works fine.

Ford reveals concept trucks that ultimately became Atlas
Wed, 03 Apr 2013The Ford Atlas Concept was one of the quiet success stories of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now Ford has given us a quick glimpse as to how that creation came to be. Designers actually combined two early sketches to build the Atlas. One, called the Bullet Train, is a futuristic, aerodynamic creation, while the other, aptly named the Locomotive, features the squared off proportions we're familiar with.
Once designers settled on the truck's proportions, they began nailing down exactly which attributes they wanted the final design to have. The Concept's notched windshield originated as a forked glass roof that seamlessly transitioned into the windscreen.
Likewise, designers wanted to fit the truck's tailgate with a storage compartment for tools and a first aid kit, but settled on the dual-purpose step/cargo cradle. Interestingly enough, the concept's active aero shutter wheels actually originated in some of the earliest sketches. Check out the photos and slides here for a closer look.
Ford pits Cobra Jet versus GRC Fiesta ST, worlds collide
Thu, 31 Oct 2013Racing takes on many forms in the automotive world. There are sanctioned events that are as varied and diverse as NASCAR, Formula One, Global Rallycross and drag racing, and to be good enough to win competitively in one discipline, you need to have a specialized vehicle. Or do you?
Ford decided to find out what would happen when its Global Rallycross Fiesta ST, driven by Tanner Foust, lined up against its Mustang Cobra Jet drag racer, driven by Roy Hill. In one lane, Tanner has just 2.0 liters of displacement to work with, while Roy has more than double that, at 5.0 liters. Evening the playing field a bit, Tanner has a massive turbocharger and all-wheel drive; Roy has to filter all his supercharged power through the rear wheels only.
So, who wins? We suggest you see for yourself in the press release and video below. And we're holding out hope that Tanner's challenge at the end results in another video from Ford Racing...
Detroit automakers mulling helping DIA avoid bankruptcy looting
Tue, 13 May 2014It's not really a secret that the city of Detroit is in lots and lots of trouble. Even with an emergency manager working to guide it through bankruptcy, a number of the city's institutions remain in very serious danger. One of the most notable is the Detroit Institute of Arts, a 658,000-square-foot behemoth of art that counts works from Van Gogh, Picasso, Gauguin and Rembrandt (not to mention a version of Rodin's iconic "The Thinker," shown above) as part of its permanent collection.
Throughout the bankruptcy, the DIA has been under threat, with art enthusiasts, historians and fans of the museum concerned that its expansive collection - valued between $454 and $867 million by Christie's - could be sold by the city to help square its $18.5-billion debt.
Now, though, Detroit's hometown automakers could be set to step up and help save the renowned museum. According to a report from The Detroit News, the charitable arms of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler could be set to donate $25 million as part of a DIA-initiated campaign, called the "grand bargain." As part of the deal, the DIA would seek $100 million in corporate donations as part of a larger attempt at putting together an $816-million package that would be paid to city pension funds over 20 years. Such a move would protect the city's art collection from being sold off.
