Interested in a Fun, easy to drive, reliable boogie van?

This is a '71 Ford Econoline also known as a mid-ford...considered by enthusiasts to be the ultimate in Van Culture.

The Green parts are ORIGINAL Ford Paint. The bottom has been resprayed black and the top has been resprayed grey (to keep it cooler in the summer). There is a small amount of corrosion on the bottom body panels but not what you'd expect to see in Ohio. This Van is originally from Florida and when you crawl underneath you can tell. It's as solid as a rock.

The Ansel Slot wheels are period correct and the tires are in excellent shape.

Inside you'll find a pioneer mosfet head unit and a rockford fosgate amp.

The drivers and passengers seats have been replaced with comfy seats from a conversion van and the back seat has been replaced with a sofa that electrically turns into a small bed. All of the factory seats come with the van, the Passenger and Rear bench seat are Green houndstooth and look like brand new.

About 2000 miles ago I decided to make this a reliable rally wagon so I went through the entire van and upgraded everything for maximum reliability.

Here's the build sheet:
302 Motor (factory) all new seals
New Mustang Heads and Pistons (high compression 10.2:1) So you can run it on modern gas, no lead additive needed.
Forged rollers and rockers
Edelbrock intake manifold
Holley 650 Carb
MSD electronic ignition
Doug Thorley Custom Econoline Headers
Functional Sidepipes, correctly routed and wrapped
New Clutch
Air Adjustable TRW rear shocks
New Front Shocks and Springs
Class 3 Trailer hitch (direct to frame, could pull ANYTHING)
3.25 Gears (this is great, because although you won't smoke the tires, you'll cruise at 70 on the freeway, no problem)
Rebuilt steering box
New Gearshift linkage

Let me stress, you can drive this van RIGHT NOW, and you can drive it HARD, fly here, buy it and drive it home to California. I have driven it on several multi state trips in the past 2 years.  It handles exactly like it should, no shimmy, no shake, no lack of power and no weird noises or smells. If you haven't driven 3 on the tree before, it's a hoot and really sends you back in time. This van has manual series which means on the modern, wide tires can be a workout at parking speeds, but it's fine at normal driving speeds. 4 wheel drum manual brakes mean you'll need more foot than you're used to, but when you stomp down hard, you can stand this thing on it's nose.

Stuff it will need:

I recommend a window seal kit / weatherstripping - these kits are available on Ebay for around $60-$90. This van only goes out on sunny days and lives in a garage the rest of the time, so it hasn't been an issue for me.

The windshield is scratched up pretty badly (it's 40 years old) I priced it out and safelite will come to your house and change it for $280, but it's covered by most insurance policies.

The interior is pretty patchwork, there's a tapestry on the ceiling and most of the original trim is present, the carpet on the floor needs replaced but there are some cool aviation style map lights along the ceiling. I would think the new owner would completely shag out the interior.

I bought this van to tow my '69 Airstream 17' Trailer that I was going to restore. I lost interest in the trailer and never ended up taking it anywhere with the van and sold the trailer last year. I am in absolutely NO hurry to sell this van, but i'd like to park a boat in the spot it's currently occupying.

What you'll get:

You'll get the Van, as it sits, owners manual and factory books, the original passenger seat and bench seat, a full tank of gas, the clean title and the Historical Plates to drive it home on. There are no warranties implied or expressed. Test rides will be with me in the drivers seat and must be arranged BEFORE the end of the auction.

You are responsible for the transportation / shipping of this van. I live only 25 minutes away from the CLE airport and will happily pick you up there, show you around the van and send you on your way. Feel free to have a local representative come out and inspect the van for you...I'm not kidding when I say it's solid, and ready to go. The winner will pay a $500 Non-Refundable Deposit to Paypal  and I will hold the van at no additional charge for up to two weeks while you get transportation together.

Lincoln trumpets $129M investment, 300 new jobs in Louisville for MKC

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

Remember when we used to talk about how close Lincoln was to being axed and how it seemed any day now the Grim Reaper would use it as a car service back to the grave? Last time we did it was, oh, not even a month ago. What a difference 27 days makes: Ford and Lincoln are trumpeting a $129M investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant that builds the MKC.
In July the MKC was the third-best-selling Lincoln of the brand's six offerings, beat by the MKZ and - by a much smaller margin - the MKX. It has sold 2,895 units in the two months it's been on sale, which is more than half the year-to-date sales of the MKS, MKT and Navigator. It's already important, is what we're trying to say, and this is before the Chinese market gets a crack at it later this year.
The money headed to Kentucky will be joined by 300 new workers, another marker in Ford's march to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the US by next year. You can read more about it in the press release below.

Ken Block's 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR and CR Supercars Villain are retro done right

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Gymkhana king Ken Block has had a pretty simple car history in his trademark videos, starting out with Subaru Impreza rally cars before moving into Ford Focus racers for the past four installments. His next video, though, Gymkhana Seven, kind of goes back in time.
Rather than the cutting-edge rally racers of past videos, Block will pilot a heavily modified 1965 Ford Mustang, called the Hoonicorn. How heavily modified is it? Well, Block's Hooligan Racing Division, ASD Motorsports and Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s RTR, spent two years working on it, ditching the standard engine and rear-wheel-drive layout and replacing it with a 410-cubic-inch Roush Yates V8. Yes, that's a NASCAR engine, and it produces 845 horsepower.
A NASCAR-powered Mustang would be news in itself, but it's the other powertrain changes made by Block and Co. that really makes headlines. Power is channeled through a one-off Sadev transmission and all-wheel-drive system, meaning that Block has basically married a NASCAR stock car with a WRC racer. ASD also developed the customized suspension, tubular chassis and roll cage. The wide Mustang body is the work of RTR and Block's own Hoonigan Racing Division, while the 18-inch fifteen52 wheels are shod in Pirelli Trofeo R tires that use a specialized compound exclusive to Block.

Mulally confirms he's not leaving Ford for Microsoft

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

In recent months, rumors had been flying about Ford CEO Alan Mulally potentially leaving the company to take a position at Microsoft. Last we heard, Mulally was planning to stick around at Ford through at least 2014, and in an interview today, that bit was confirmed by the CEO himself.
According to the Associated Press, in a report from The Detroit News, Mulally said he will not be leaving Ford for Microsoft, and reiterated that he will remain at the Blue Oval through 2014, if not longer. Mulally has "no plans other than to serve Ford," according to the report.
Mulally did not say whether or not he had been in talks with Microsoft at any point. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said he plans to leave the software company sometime this year.
