HISTORY OF METEOR 1955 TO CANADA

It was announced to the press that the new Meteor line would be shown to the public on November 10, 1954 .   Unfortunately, labour negotiations between the union and Ford were not going well. When the 110-day strike was finally over in January of 1955, domestic production got under way. The first Meteors rolled out the doors of the Oakville plant on February 10, 1955 . Dealers could heave a sigh of relief  . When the Meteors finally did burst into showrooms, all thirteen models glittered and shone like the sensational stars they were.

Meteor’s famed Wonder Ride was hyped as now being better than ever and the Rideau Crown Victoria promised to roll “majestically over the royal road with style, performance and quality.”  It came in two-tone and tri-tone colour schemes, a special block pattern pleat in the seats. The steering wheel and column were offered in a range of colours to harmonize with the interior trim and the all-new Astra-dial instrument panel.

**  FOR THIS REASON ONLY 151 METEOR  CROWN VICTORIA WAS BUILT  **

This car is a tremendous investment only going up in value and hard to replace.

Ford sued over alleged 3.5-liter EcoBoost defects

Thu, 16 May 2013

Three Ford owners from Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the automaker over defects that they allege exist within the company's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Automotive News reports that the lawsuit claims the engine "contained serious latent design, manufacturing, or assembly defects." Those defects, the suit claims, cause the vehicle to shake, misfire and lose power quickly.
Two of the plaintiffs, a married couple, own a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, and allege they experienced a loss of power and stalling, while the third, an F-150 owner, claims he lost power while accelerating. In addition to the Taurus SHO and F-150, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available in the Ford Flex, Explorer Sport and Lincoln MKT and MKS. Other three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines are not included in the suit. There have been no recalls associated with 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently not investigating the matter.
The plaintiffs, however, claim Ford has known about the problem, citing several technical service bulletins issued to dealers of the F-150 that suggest possible fixes. Ford had no comment for Automotive News, saying that it's yet to review the lawsuit, which was filed last Friday in Columbus, OH.

How the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor became a reality

Wed, 01 May 2013

The camouflaged Ford F-150 SVT Raptor prototype captured above blazing its way across the desert during a test run left company engineers giggling in amazement, reveals Jamal Hameedi in a new Autoweek video. Ford's global performance vehicle chief engineer, accompanied by senior exterior designer Bruce Williams, sat down with the publication to discuss the concept and development of the automaker's super off-road F-150.
Designing a high-performance pickup in 2008, right when the cost of gasoline was going through the roof, seemed insane at the time, but the team pushed forward with the innovative vehicle regardless. The interview includes plenty of Ford B-roll footage as visual candy, and the conversations include discussions about exterior design, ride comfort, anti-lock brake tuning, suspension engineering, weight reduction and why it was necessary to make the Raptor visually different than Ford's standard F-150. The model's origin story is very interesting, and you can learn more about it by watching the video below.

Ford acquires Livio to bolster connectivity biz

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

Ford Motor Company has announced the acquisition of Livio, a Ferndale, MI-based software development company best known for aftermarket in-car connectivity devices, but also as a supplier of technology for proprietary systems for automakers. Livio, co-founded by Sigal and Massimo Baldini, will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Global Technologies.
"With the additional expertise Livio provides us, Ford intends to continue to lead the next generation of in-car connectivity with technology advancements that give consumers more options to access their devices on the go," said Paul Mascarenas, chief technical officer and vice president, Ford Research and Innovation, in a statement.
Ford is clearly trying to beef up its in-house tech capability around telematics and device connectivity. While the Blue Oval has been a leader in these areas with SYNC and MyFord Touch in terms of getting the systems into as many cars as possible, the execution of the applications have been criticized for glitches.
