Up for auction.....my 2008 Ford Crown Victoria equipped with the Police Interceptor package. This car began it's service as a basic squad car on the PA/MD border. At 82000 miles it was repurposed (and repainted) to be an investigators unit. I have owned it for about 10000 miles-so why am I selling it? Well, I own a bar, and even though the car has a plain clothes appearance, it still looks like a police car and it freaks the patrons out! So it has to go....true story. It has no known defects and all major components (including, but not limited to the engine, transmission, power accessories, suspension, power steering, brakes, exhaust, and lights) operate at 100%. Recent new parts include the alternator, the battery, and brakes. The tires have approximately 50%+ tread remaining, and it goes down the road as straight as an arrow. The tranny was replaced at 81550 miles, and it has the desirable X-5 axle code. No oddball dash lights save for a tire inflation warning that pops up for no apparent reason. The undercarriage of the car is very clean (No rust......it did come from southern PA), and the interior is clean although there is a small tear near the drivers side seat back. Kelly blue book and NADA both value the car at over $5000, but my reserve is way way below that because, as I mentioned, the car has to go. I would not hesitate to drive the car to Seattle if I needed to!.....Just gas it up and go.....and it really gets pretty decent gas mileage (20 city/26 hwy). A note about the mileage.....at 114228 the municipality had a problem with the speedometer (it quit) so they swapped the entire dash cluster with one from a 2008 unit that had been hit hard in the rear-that car had 143815 on it so this car's "new" odometer shows the extra mileage now and reads 158280.....but if you do the math it really has 128693.....the title and dash documentation support this. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me! If you have zero or negative feedback, please email me before bidding and let me know you're truly interested. This really is a nice 2008 Crown Victoria for not a lot of money. Good Luck!

Project Ugly Horse: Part V
Mon, 11 Feb 2013The Slippery Slope
I've had a healthy appreciation for cars that stop since one truly unfortunate incident with a runaway 1971 Lincoln Continental.
It's funny how quickly a party can turn from, "We're all having blast" to "What happened to the front of the house, and how many stitches do you think this is going to take?" Standing in a Mustang salvage shop in Kodak, Tennessee, I couldn't help but feel I had strayed into the latter territory with Ugly Horse. There was a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 plucked from a rear-ended Cobra sitting off to my left. The shelves were lined with second-hand Roush and SVT components galore, but I couldn't stop staring at a set of rotors with the approximate diameter of my chest.
Ford increasing Super Duty production by 15 percent
Fri, 31 Jan 2014Ford has announced a hefty $80 million investment in its Kentucky Truck Plant, which is responsible for building the F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 versions of the Super Duty pickup. The influx of cash will add 350 jobs to the factory.
The investment is also good for a 15-percent increase in annual production thanks to retooling and other facility upgrades, which equates to an extra 55,000 units of production. Considering that Ford makes even more money off its Super Duty than it does on the hot-selling F-150, this could mean some serious coin to Ford's bottom line.

NHTSA closes Ford F-Series Super Duty steering probe without recall
Wed, 05 Feb 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation into 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, which was originally opened last year, has now ended without a recall. NHTSA was looking into steering failures on some 336,000 trucks.
The issue rested with the steering gear - NHTSA received five complaints of failures - which was redesigned in 2005. According to the report on the matter, investigators "found evidence of broken sector shaft gear teeth and piston damage consistent with incidents of single event overload."
NHTSA investigators, however, "found no evidence of fatigue or material property defects in any of the fractures. Analysis of complaint rates by vehicle build month showed no patterns indicating potential manufacturing quality issues and no difference before and after Ford introduced design changes to the input shaft and sector shaft seals in July 2007 to address potential leak concerns," according to the report, obtained by The Detroit News.
