The last of the land yachts - up for sale is my 1/82,433 produced 1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria - the final year in the old "box" style. My old man picked this up from the original owner back in 2002 when it had about 90,000 miles - so I've averaged only a few thousand miles each year. It's spent most of that time traveling with me around the country - from here in MN, to North Carolina, over to SoCal, and finally back home to MN. She's only experienced one or two MN winters, and has never left me stranded.

Mechanically, structurally, and cosmetically in great shape - A/C is still ice cold. In the past I've used this as a daily commuter (mostly highway) and I'm selling because I don't really need/want it anymore (about to buy a motorcycle). It's not the most fuel efficient, nor the most powerful, but the driving experience more than makes up for it. There are several quirks and nuances that you'll have to get familiar with, but you'll warm up to it quickly.

Also, I put together a pretty sweet audio setup - did the install myself back in 2007 or so. Few thousand dollars worth of audio gear. It's competition ready with its upgraded electrical system.

Features
HO alternator
Optima Yellowtop battery
Knukonceptz 0-gauge wiring to the trunk
RAAMmat sound deadening in doors and trunk
Alpine CDA-9885 head unit (w/ Alpine KCE-422i iPod Connection Cable) + 80GB iPod Classic
Cadence Amp (FXA4100)
Phoenix Gold 5.25 components in the front doors
AQ1200D Amp
AudioQue 12" Subs SD2.512-D4 (x2) in a massive ported enclosure tuned low (22 or 23Hz I think)

I have all original documentation and complete (mostly) maintenance history. I encourage you to have your local mechanic perform a thorough inspection prior to purchase. Title is clean.

Ford forced to recall Escape over fire risk yet again

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

Recalls happen. Automakers hope they won't, but they do. And that's alright, for the most part, because cars are designed (and to a large degree still made) by humans, and humans make mistakes. So we forgive them, as long as the problem is resolved. Only in the case of the Ford Escape, the problem seems to keep coming back.
That's why Ford is calling in the Escape yet again due to fire concerns. The issue revolves around problematic fuel lines in 9,469 units manufactured between October 5, 2011, and July 11, 2012, all of which use the 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine.
As you yourself may recall, the Escape was subject to a string of recalls last year that resulted in a $17 million fine. One of them was over this very same issue, which Ford apparently didn't rectify the first time around. Let's hope this time is the last time.

2015 Ford Mustang invades SEMA, led by King Cobra

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Ford showcased more than a dozen customized 2015 Mustangs at its sprawling 20,000-square foot display this week at the Las Vegas Convention Center as the iconic pony car's 50th anniversary celebration continued at the SEMA Show.
While Mustangs are always a hot commodity at SEMA, the new generation brought increased attention from the aftermarket, as builders like Galpin Auto Sports, Richard Petty's Garage and Vaughn Gittin Jr. offered their takes on the new 'Stang.
The extensive display included a range of Mustangs from mild to wild, with everything from a 600-plus horsepower King Cobra pictured at the top, to paint-and-wheel packages. The new regal Cobra, which we spied early in our SEMA adventure this year, may not be the replacement for the Cobra Jet as we speculated, but it does seem to point the way forward for the next iteration of a supreme Ford dragster. Fat drag slicks out back make it's reason for being abundantly clear, and for tells us that modded car is good for a 10.97-second quarter-mile run.

Hennessey completes first VelociRaptor SUV conversion [w/video]

Mon, 20 May 2013

Start with a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor as your base vehicle for modification, and chances are high that you'll end up with something pretty cool. Now, have those modifications done by professional lunatics Hennessey Performance, make the project turning the pickup into an ultra-long SUV, and the result stands a real chance of being a total kick in the ass. Let us present the Hennessey VelociRaptor then, in all of its awesomeness.
Hennessey has taken care in grafting a "Expedition style" rear cabin onto the Raptor, complete with an optional third row. The pictures we have show a cabin that's up to the fit and finish standards of the original Ford truck, too. The cab added over the bed also makes room for a massive load space out back, accessible via split out-folding doors and long enough for a person to lay down in (see video).
Mechanically, the truck-turned-SUV sticks with Ford's stock 6.2-liter V8, rated at 411 horsepower, or can be had with a supercharger and some 600 hp. Hennessey says the stock-motor VelociRaptor will run from 0-60 miles per hour in 7.5 seconds, while the hi-po version takes just 5.9 seconds. The SUV does take some of the off-road ability away from the Raptor, with the company saying it hasn't yet had the opportunity to test its capabilities. On-roading and "moderate off-road duties" are the current prescription.
