You are looking at a 1969 Ford Bronco that was purchased new
at Smyth County Motors in Marion, VA.
According to the previous owner, this Bronco belonged to his
Grandfather, which owned this Ford dealership (Smyth County Motors). At one time this Bronco had Smyth County
Motors and the Ford/Mercury logo on both the driver and passenger doors. You can still see faint evidence of this on
both doors. This Bronco truly has 14K original miles. I have a copy of the
original title dated 1969, Ford owner card, and every Virginia state inspection
paper (with the mileage listed) from 1969-1993.
The last inspection sticker was applied in 1993, so it has been resting
for quite a while. As a result of being driven in a mountain community, this Bronco does have some rust. Rust is located in the leading edge of the floor boards, where the floorboards bend up towards the firewall. Other trouble areas include the front inner fenders where the metal overlaps behind the wheels wells and the rocker panels. The undercarriage (frame, front/rear end, springs, etc.) has surface rust and pitting, but absolutely no rust through anywhere other than the sheet metal mentioned above. The frame is solid. At some point (probably when new), the rear quarters were cut and urethane flares were fiberglassed in so that they looked like they were original. They must have painted these areas with lacquer. The lacquer has not stood up to time as good as the original enamel paint on the rest of the Bronco. The only other area that has been painted, besides the lower quarters, is the right rear corner of the top. It has been spotted in there for some reason or another. At some point someone installed hood pins and a very large bucking Bronco hood ornament which I removed. I left the hood pins but the two holes for the ornament are still there. Other customizations are the roof rack and spot light. Not sure if these are Ford accessories, but they look pretty decent regardless. The light on the spot light works but it is not swiveling like it is supposed to. ***MORE DETAILED PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE AT: http://www.autosportsinc.com/1969_Ford_Ford_Hickory_NC_212441294.veh PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS AND ASK QUESTIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING. THANKS! The positives on this Bronco outweigh the negatives. The grille, hood, fenders, doors, upper
quarters, top, and tailgate are all without rust, AND are in above average
condition, AND possess the original paint. The original paint is not show
perfect but has plenty of life left in it. Other than the lower rear quarters,
the paint looks pretty dam good for a 1969.
The door jams and tailgate jams look excellent and have no rust. The doors
do not sag and close very well. All the
windows are original Carlites and are in great shape. The dash and dash pad are
original and are in great shape. All paint (both cordovan (orange) and white)
in the interior is original and is in great shape with the exception of the
floors. The original owner had placed
household carpet in the cargo area and it adhered to the floor in certain
places, taking the original paint with it when it was removed. Even the bench seat cover is original and is
in great shape. The steering wheel, horn
button ring, visors, wiper motor cover, and seat belts are original and are in
great shape. It has the original spare
tire/wheel and it has never been run on the road. The original wimbledon white bumpers have
been reinstalled. As a result of being stabled since 1993, this Bronco needed
some TLC to get it running. The
carburetor has been rebuilt. New plugs, plug wires, and points were installed.
The entire brake system has been replaced including master cylinder, wheel cylinders,
shoes, and even brake lines, both metal and rubber (front to back). Both rear
end fluids have been changed. The
transfer case fluid has been changed. The power steering fluid has been
changed. Heater hoses have been changed.
Engine oil has been changed.
Tires are approximately 50% and are nothing to brag about. It cranks, runs, and drives very well. The
driveline has no play. It feels tight on
the road. Mechanically this Bronco is ready to go. To sum it up, this Bronco is definitely not perfect, but it
has some very good qualities. It is very
presentable and a great driver as is. I
would love to keep it myself, but I am lacking garage space for more Broncos. Feel free to contact me, Justin Killian, at
autosports@charter.net or 828-308-7315 if you have questions. You are welcome to view this Bronco in person
if you choose. Please remember older
cars require more time, love, and money. Do not bid if you are unsure of what
you are purchasing. I would rather you
be pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed. FOR MORE PHOTOS VISIT THE FOLLOWING LINKS: ALSO... CHECK OUT OUR CLASSIC CAR COLLECTION AT:

Report: GM struggling to market turbo technology
Tue, 20 Apr 2010In the automotive realm, marketing can sometimes prove just as important as the actual product. Take, for instance, Ford's well regarded EcoBoost technology, which couples turbocharging with direct injection to produce more horsepower and reduce fuel consumption. Would it surprise you to hear that General Motors has had similar technology on the market for over three years?
It's true. GM's first turbocharged, direct injected powerplants hit the market for the 2007 model. The 2.0-liter Ecotec mills put down an impressive 260 horsepower and a matching 260 pound-feet of torque, and they were lauded by the press in the engine bays of the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Cobalt SS and Chevrolet HHR SS. But few people outside a core group of enthusiasts actually remember this fact.
Says Uwe Grebe, executive director of GM's global advanced engineering, "We didn't have a badge and say, 'This is the most important thing we will put on all our brochures.'" Ford, however, did just that, and it's EcoBoost engines are right at the tips of all our tongues when we discuss today's most advanced powerplants. So, how does The General fix its mistake?
Ford tells Congress it collects and protects some driver data
Fri, 14 Feb 2014Last month Ford's Jim Farley made waves at the CES when it was reported he told show attendees, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone." Farley and Ford later partially retracted and clarified that statement.
Spurred by a desire for further transparency on data collection policies, Ford representatives answered questions from Congress, specifically Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.), about driver privacy.
The Detroit News reports that Ford told Congress it does collect some vehicle location data in an effort to "troubleshoot and improve our products" on behalf of the driver. Ford went on to say that it only collects limited data after receiving permission from owners.
2015 Ford F-150 claims segment's best payload, towing ratings
Mon, 29 Sep 2014While we are set to drive the new, 2015 Ford F-150 in the coming days, there's a big piece of news on the latest-generation of the Blue Oval's bread-and-butter pickup coming out of Dearborn, and it focuses on the truck's hauling and towing abilities.
The new F-150 will have a maximum payload of 3,300-pounds (V8 models), and, perhaps more importantly, a 12,200-pound tow rating (EcoBoost V6 models), which for the first time are compliant with the Society of Automotive Engineer's J2807 standards. Those best-in-class figures are significant feathers in Ford's cap as the Detroit Three continue duking it out for the title of top pickup.
"As founding members of the SAE trailer towing committee, we will meet SAE trailer towing standards," Ford's Aaron Miller told Autoblog.
