This is a 1973 Ford Bronco.  I am the second owner.  I believe it to be in very good condition, but it certainly has been used and has wear.  I have never abused this vehicle nor do I believe the original owner did either.  My wife and I have only used it during hunting seasons on "ranch" roads that we have permission to hunt.  The left rear corner was in a minor to moderate accident prior to my ownership.  It has some very minor evidence of rust but no serious rust issues of any kind.  It was repainted prior to 1996.  It has had no internal engine work done since new, but all external components have been replaced or overhauled (i.e.  fuel pump, water pump, carb, radiator, heater core, motor mounts, starter, alternator).  The engine runs good and does not use oil.    The transmission was overhauled in 1976 at either 6100 miles or 61000 miles.  I do not know which.  Both rear end and front end have had new axel bearings installed, but no internal work done (i.e. gears).  Every u-joint in the drive train has been replaced.  All brake components have been replaced with exception of the drums.  It has all new neoprene suspension parts on the front end.  All new shocks with duel shocks being added to the front.  Engine, transmission and steering do leak some oil due to age, but not really due to a malfunction.  The odometer reads 98,501.  When I asked the original owner if that was correct he stated that it had turned over.  So, I have to assume that it has 198,501 miles, but I do not know what the actual miles are.  The speedometer has always worked since I got it.  This vehicle is almost all stock with the exception of the rear fenders being cut and flairs installed.  Duel shocks being added to the front.  The original steering wheel being replaced.  The rear upholstery, carpeting and back seat have been removed for a more utilitarian use.  The front bumper has been replaced with a winch type bumper.  It has no winch at this time. It has no steel top nor am radio and speaker.  But the dash has not been modified.  I have modified the door hinge pins for quick and easy removal of the doors while hunting.

Overall  this Bronco is in excellent condition for it's age.  But, it is 41 years old.  I get many compliments on it.  It has been garaged the whole time that I have owned it and well taken care of and serviced.  The only reason that I am selling it is I wish to get an ATV that I can haul in conjunction with my travel trailer.

2014 Ford Fiesta Titanium

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

You might not be interested in owning a subcompact (B-segment) hatchback for $20,000. Let's be clear from the get go here: there are any number of reasonable arguments for staying away from the highest-content versions of these small cars. Ford's player in the B-segment arena is the newly updated 2014 Fiesta, and the Titanium trim represents the most luxurious instantiation of the model. We recently were loaned a Fiesta Titanium for a week, whose final sticker price hit $20,390, with navigation being the only standalone option added to the bottom line. By way of comparison, the most basic version of the all new, one-segment-up Mazda3 hatchback costs $19,740 with delivery and destination accounted for, and no options added on.
Hold on to that thought for a moment, we'll get back to it.

Mulally will stay close to Ford after he steps down, plans to advise Fields [w/video]

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

Ford CEO Alan Mulally has less than a week left in his role of leading the Blue Oval before he hands off duties to Mark Fields on July 1. It doesn't look like Mulally is going to be shuffling off into his retirement anytime soon, though. The 68-year-old is being rather secretive about his next move, but he tells Bloomberg in a recent interview that he plans to stay close to Ford. Also, if Fields wants to ask for any advice, Mulally is happy to help.
Mulally took over at Ford in 2006 and led the company through a seriously rough patch in the auto industry. According to Bloomberg, he became famous or his Thursday meetings where executives were forced to deal with any problems before they could leave. Since announcing his retirement from Ford in May, Mulally has been insuring a smooth transition of power by traveling the world to all of company's major locations and saying goodbye to employees and dealers.
In terms of the future at Ford, Mulally doesn't predict any big changes in management style because the rest of the executive team is staying in place. He believes that Fields is going to maintain the processes already in place to keep things going. After all, it seems to be working. The company is predicting a return to profitability in Europe next year and is opening 88 new dealers in China. If the business could get its recalls under control, things could get even better.

Jay Leno's Garage goes eco with Ricardo HyBoost

Mon, 17 Mar 2014

"Now before you turn away, this is not another boring hybrid car thing..." Despite the slightly defensive introduction from Jay, the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage is actually pretty fascinating. The Ricardo HyBoost is a 2009 Ford Focus that has had a 1.1-liter engine swapped in for the stock 2.0-liter four. That might not get you performance enthusiasts out there fired up, until, that is, you hear that the 1.1L is also fed by both a turbocharger and an electrically driven supercharger for an instant-on "torque-fill" effect. Sounds about right, considering that Ricardo engineering is part of the genius behind the McLaren P1.
Perhaps most exciting of all, the Ricardo folks say that the package should run somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,100. A sort of performance-hybrid that makes sense for the frugal driver and the enthusiast one, then. There's a lot more to the HyBoost, all of which can be seen in the video below.
