Up for auction is a 1968 Ford Bronco. I won't call it a barn find, because that term is used to loosely these days. What I have here is an old school bronco that was bought by a man to use to take his son hunting back in 68 and used primarily for that until the original owner passed away, and willed it to his son. He in turn gave it to his son, and I picked it up from the grandson with the intention of fully restoring it.But unfortunately to many irons in the fire, so if I can get enough out of it, I will let someone else give it a shot. Here is what I know about this rig. It has the original 289 V8 and the three on the tree. It starts, runs, and drives remarkably well. It has a dual battery set up, probably to power the 10,000# wench on the front, and the 4 wheel drive unit works fine also. It has rust all around the edges of the outside, as well as on the front floors. Not terrible but yet still there. It is pretty straight as far as the body panels are concerned. The rear tail gait has rust in a couple of small spots, and the door jambs and pillars are in great shape, as well as all the metal under the hood. The truck is complete and all original except for the cut rear fenders. I have not even cleaned the bronco out, because it is still in the same condition the old man left it, meaning it is equipped with many replacement parts that may go bad while out on a hunting trip. Such as tire chains, spare filters, belts, handyman jack hats, gloves, bullets,, and so on. Kind of creepy, but yet kind of cool at the same time. Any way, the bottom line is this old bronco has a lot of potential, and runs very well. The odometer shows 20386. Probably 120386. Please ask any questions you can think of, and I will try to answer them as best as I can. I have a clean and clear title ready for the new owner. Thank you.

Spy shooter claims proof of upcoming aluminum Ford F-Series Super Duty

Thu, 26 Jun 2014

Ford has already confirmed that the 2015 F-150 (pictured above) was just the beginning for its more extensive use of aluminum. CEO Alan Mulally said it himself during the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. We've even already seen the future Raptor testing with an aluminum body. But a recent discovery from an intrepid spy photographer might indicate that the lightweight metal is coming to the Blue Oval's Super Duty pickups in their upcoming generation, as well.
According to Automotive News, a spy shooter in Colorado spotted a prototype for the next-gen F-350 testing. He happened to have a magnet on hand and got close enough to check the truck out. When he held it up to the metal in the bed, it didn't stick, which signaled to him a switch from steel to aluminum.
Obviously, this claim raises some questions. Given that it was a test vehicle, one possibility is that the Blue Oval is just evaluating the feasibility of switching to aluminum for the Super Duty trucks, not necessarily committed to it yet. Ford has been testing it quite exhaustively, after all. In fact, much of the rest of the truck in question was covered in camouflage, so it's possible that the magnet failed to work along the rest of the body not because it was aluminum, but because it wasn't powerful enough to get through the disguising material. Thus, the lightweight metal's use could be far less substantial than on the new F-150. Still, it was a clever idea for the cameraman to check things out and might have given us the first hint about brand's next heavy-duty models.

J Mays on the 2015 Ford Mustang

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

J Mays, head of design at Ford, may be retiring from the company after 16 years, but not before showing the world his swan song: the 2015 Mustang. Ford officially revealed its new coupe and convertible to the public at events around the world on Thursday, including a live unveiling on ABC's Good Morning America, and Mays was in attendance at the automaker's home event in Dearborn, MI, which is where we caught up with him for a few words about his new baby.
"It's a joy" to design the Mustang, Mays told Autoblog, adding that this sixth-generation coupe is his "favorite design so far." Of course, the 2015 model takes cues from all of the generations that came before it, but Mays said it was important to edit down the specific elements from previous models, leaving just enough off to let the customer "participate and fill in the blanks."
"If it doesn't sell itself, you probably aren't a Mustang fan."

Jay Leno sees how the other half lives with CHP cop cars new and old

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Comedian Jay Leno is changing gears from driving fast cars to checking out some of the police cruisers that regularly chase down and dish out punishment to those fast cars. In this episode of Jay Leno's Garage, we get the lowdown on the modifications made to the Ford Explorer for the Interceptor package (which looks pretty tough in its California Highway Patrol livery).
The new Ford is cool, but cooler still are the pack of classic CHP cars that Jay has along for the episode. A 1982 Mustang, 1966 Dodge Polara, 1970 Mercury Monterey and 2000 Crown Victoria are all in the shop. Better still, Jay lays out an argument for ones of the classic cruisers as the best cop car of all time. Get your guesses in now, and then scroll down to watch and learn.
