1961 Ferrari California 250 Gt on 2040-cars
Scottsdale, Arizona, United States
Introducing: The 1961 Ferrari California 250 GT Only 100 or so were built in the late 50's to early 60's and they are one of the most sought after automobiles in the world! And today, the fetch between $8-10 Million dollars. I love this car so much but unfortunately, I have to part with it. You will probably have to pry the keys from me, but for the right price I offer this 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder Recreation by Modena Design. This is the same manufacturer who produced the infamous "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" car. This car is titled as a 1989 Modena. This is a custom manufactured car and in no way a kit car. No donor car underneath. It is a hand built fiberglass powered by a Ford racing 289 V8 power plant These are very rare, as Modena only made a handful of these before Ferrari shut them down. The cars are strikingly accurate, and almost everyone wont know the differnece. Modena only made 50 before being shut down and only 38 are known to exist! The 289 V8 motor rumbles thru it's custom exhaust. This is truly a head turning, traffic stopping car. Be prepared to be stared at even with people driving Bentleys, Lambo's, New Ferraris and more. The car runs great as I just had the engine rebuilt. It has power steering, power brakes, power antenna, cold A/C, but I only drove it with the top down. Call me with any questions. 602-448-3480 Forgot to mention: The 03 is a static cling. So they comes off and on. Paint is amazing! The wipers aren't hooked up, there are 2 small parallel scratches by the nose about 1 inch each, and the e-brake isn't hooked up. this is a 5 speed manual. This car drives great and looks amazing. I never went over 70mph in this car. On weekends, I take it to a local car show nearby. The Pictures don't do this car justice. |

F1 teams to test titanium skid plates to reignite spark in series
Sun, 22 Jun 2014The 2014 Formula One season opened with one overwhelming complaint - the cars didn't sound right. It sapped the excitement, despite the fact that this season has seen a number of truly thrilling races (Bahrain, Spain and Montreal all come to mind). Attempts have been made to restore some of the audible thrill of the cars, although efforts have remained unsuccessful.
If F1 can't fix the sound of the cars, then other methods need to be considered to restore its self-perceived lack of excitement. One of those involves fitting titanium skid plates to the cars in a bid to reintroduce the sparks that were so prevalent in the sport's past.
Mercedes-AMG and Ferrari conducted initial experiments with the new skid plates during early practice sessions for the 2014 Austrian Grand Prix. Kimi Raikkonen and Nico Rosberg had the plates fitted to different locations of their cars, in a bid to see which created the most dramatic sparks. Considering the photos the tests, though, neither Mercedes' nor Ferrari's setup really seemed successful, which is why you're seeing Johnny Herbert and his 1989 Benneton B188 up top.
LaFerrari, meet YouTube. YouTube, LaFerrari
Tue, 05 Mar 2013If, for some reason, you feel like we've left anything out of our coverage of the exciting new LaFerrari unveiled today in Geneva, don't fret - Ferrari has us covered. The automaker has graced us with a total of seven videos of its new hybrid supercar today including the original launch video we already showed you this morning.
The six new videos discuss a broad spectrum of topics, such as LaFerrari's overall architecture, carbon fiber chassis and body, driving dynamics and the 160-horsepower HY-KERS (HYbrid Kinetic Energy Recovery System) part of the powertrain. There is also coverage of today's auto show unveiling and, our favorite, a short video showing the car being tested around the Fiorano Circuit plus some bonus footage of past Ferrari supercars like the GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo.
In total, there is almost 30 minutes of video goodness to bring you just about all the information there is to know about LaFerrari, and all seven videos are posted below.
Ugar Sahin Design's F is a radical Ferrari 458 in disguise
Wed, 02 Apr 2014Look, Ferrari, your latest line of cars is arguably the best looking group of prancing stallions since the early 1970s. Even the rather dull California has gotten some attention, thanks to the new California T. But this, the Ferrari F from Ugur Sahin Design, is just better.
Believe it or not, that is based on a 458 Italia. It's like the designer has taken the very best aspects of the Pagani Huayra, Jim Glickenhaus' P4/5 and the Ferrari LaFerrari and combined them into one amazing package. We think it's positively stunning.
Now, obviously, there are some aspects that wouldn't work for a production car. For example, those rear blind spots are probably huge. But when a car looks this good, who really cares? In fact, we'd be willing to designate this Ferrari as the best looking car Ugur Sahin has penned, which is high praise indeed.
