We purchased this car from a dealer up North, they were advertsing the car as retail ready. We made an offer on the car and were surprised when a month or so later our offer was accepted, oh little did we know. When we received the car, the first thing we noticed was the bad shrinkage to the upper dash and dash pod. The came the engine check light, then the missing tools, then the missing Tonneau cover for the convertible top. We started the car and tried to operate the convertible top, not surprisingly this didn't go to well, not too much of an issue, quite normal in the 355, just replace the seat potentiometer and re calibrate the roof. We took the car to the Independent specialist we always use to have these few things taken care of. Well, about an hour went by and I get a phone call from the technitian to go back, he needs to show me some other issues he has noticed. This is where the list starts, he has immediately noted that the cambelts which were supposed to have been changed recently looked terribly worn and deteriorated and there was obvious corrosion on the tensioners, a sign that the major service hadn't been done for quite sometime. He had also noted that the radiators on either side were leaking, the bottoms were quite badly corroded and the seams were letting fluid by. Putting the car on the computer to check the clutch, which incidentally was supposed to have been replaced at the same time the service was carried out, the result, clutch was 100% worn, now the computer is only accurate to + or - 5% and that is why the car would still drive, but not for long. On checking the cause of the engine check light we find that both Catalytic Converters were well below efficiency. (We later determined that one Catalytic Converter was completely empty and the other had remnants of the precious metals rattling around). We have since, done the complete Cambelt service with all Fluids and Tensioner's and Bearings, replaced the Clutch, replaced both Radiators, replaced both Catalytic Converters, had the both the Dash and Dash Pod recovered with leather, purchased a complete Tool kit and New Tonneau Cover. You might be asking yourself what the point of this story is, well my point is that when some dealers say "Retail Ready" and describe a car as "a Really Nice 355" that is not Black Horse Motors "Retail Ready" or a Black Horse Motors "Really Nice 355". My point, we may be towards the higher end of pricing on our cars, but our cars are at the very highest quality they can be, we don't sell cars that need anything. If a retail customer had purchased this car from the dealer in Illinois, they obviously wouldn't have purchased the car at wholesale, then the value of the work we have had carried out would be close to a retail value over $20,000. A Buyer could easily be into this car for over $80,000 maybe more. Save yourself time, stress and a whole lot of money, buy from Black Horse Motors and enjoy your car, not let her sit in a service shop all summer when you could be having a blast. We sold her Summer 2013 to a gentleman in the Daytona area of Florida who enjoyed her for about 700 miles and then decided because nof his age a new Corvette would be better for him to drive.

We know from many, many years of watching classic car auctions, that there are certain qualities that ensure big money. This is doubly true if said car hails from the 1950s or 1960s, and it's triply true if some dude drove it around in circles or if a celebrity owned it. Considering that, we should expect big, big things when this 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 crosses the block at the big RM Auctions event during the festivities surrounding the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Terrence Steven McQueen, better known as Steve McQueen and even better known as the coolest actor of the 1960s and 1970s, originally purchased this car while filming Bullitt in San Francisco, which should provide a big boost to its sale price.
For the first time in the event's 64-year history, the prestigious Best In Show honor at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance has been awarded to a Ferrari. The 1954 375 MM Scaglietti Coupe seen here is owned by car collector Jon Shirley of Medina, WA, and as it turns out, has quite a rich history. Nevermind the fact that it's currently one of five road-going 375 MMs - this example was ordered by film director Roberto Rossellini, and was actually born as a Pininfarina-bodied competition Spyder. Following an accident, the car's original body wasn't able to be saved, but the chassis was sent to Carrozzeria Scaglietti in Modena for replacement, and the finished product became the company's first passenger car design for Ferrari. Following its tenure with Rossellini, the car was owned by Mario Savona of Palermo, and later Charles Robert of Paris. Years later, the car was restored by its current owner in 1995, after being found in an underground garage in a Paris suburb.
Gene Haas is undertaking quite the initiative by starting his own Formula One team instead of simply buying an existing one. And he's making it even harder on himself by laudably insisting on quartering the operation at his home base in North Carolina. But to get onto the grid by 2016, he's going to need some help. Fortunately that appears to be just what he's getting thanks to a new partnership with no less accomplished an outfit than Ferrari - which, despite not having won a championship since 2008, remains far and away the most successful team in the history of grand prix racing, with sixteen constructors' championships, fifteen drivers' titles and 221 grand prix victories to its name. Haas Automation, the CNC machine manufacturer over which Gene Haas presides and which funds his various racing activities, has just signed a sponsorship deal with Scuderia Ferrari that has already seen the Haas logo appear on the F14 T that Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen drove in the British Grand Prix this past weekend. More than a sponsor, Haas Automation has become an official supplier to the Maranello squad, but is expected to lead to even closer cooperation that will help get the American F1 team up and running in time for the 2016 world championship.
