Ferrari F355 Challenge Twin-turbo Race Car on 2040-cars
Elizabeth, New Jersey, United States
This is a factory-built 1997 F355 Challenge car with 15,000 miles. It was run in the Challenge series for 2 years until being replaced by the 360 Challenge. I bought this car in 2006 from the previous owner (and good friend) after selling my own 360 Challenge whose handling I did not like. I then spent over $30,000 on conversion to a twin turbo engine. The conversion was performed by a Ferrari factory authorized facility in Elizabeth, N.J. 2 new Garrett turbos, 2 custom made intercoolers, custom piping and wiring all handmade, uprated injectors, fuel pumps and a remapped ecu give this car 500 RWHP in it's current setup. Up to 600 RWHP easily achievable, but I wanted it to remain highly reliable and run on pump gas. Full roll cage, fire extinguishing system and communications wiring. Internal and external ignition shutoff. The 355 is a much more forgiving car to drive very fast than the 360 or 430, and with the extra horsepower it is faster than both. I have used this car for trackdays only since it's completion, and it has been in storage at the Ferrari faciliy since 2009. Due to back injuries I sustained in 2008 I can no longer race cars, so this beauty is for sale. Body is clean with no dents, never been in an accident to my (and the previous owner's) knowledge. Paint is excellent and interior is clean. No rust anywhere. Large file of service records (this car was fanatically maintained). Very rare, very fast, very easy to drive. Replacing this car would cost well in excess of $100,000 today. Please do not bid if you have zero feedback or more than 5% negative feedback. Please no tire-kickers or dreamers. Car is not street legal so it can not be taken for test drives. Viewing and PPI may be done by appointment at Classic Coach Ferrari in Elizabeth, NJ. Contact me to arrange an appointment. Vehicle is sold on a Bill of Sale. This car is not road-legal so it has no title in NY. |

Ferrari embroiled in legal battle over 21-year-old's Facebook page
Fri, 28 Mar 2014Ferrari is facing a court battle in Switzerland due to alleged copyright infringement over taking over a Facebook fan site. If the suit is successful, it could cost the company millions and harm its reputation on social media.
Sammy Wassem started the Facebook fan page for Ferrari when he was 15 and eventually grew it to over 500,000 followers. In 2009, the company congratulated the him on the site's success, but said that "legal issues" forced it to take over the administration, according to Automotive News Europe. Wassem could still use the site, but managers had oversight.
Wassem asked Ferrari for financial compensation to keep working on the page but continued creating content on it for the next four years. Eventually, the company terminated his administration rights, and In 2013, the he and his father Olivier filed the lawsuit against the business alleging it owes payment over 5,500 hours of work and copyright infringement for taking over the page. They are asking for 10 million Swiss francs ($11.3 million).
Overnight action from the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Sun, 23 Jun 2013We won't go into a recap here, but there are still leading positions being fought for in all classes - it's so close that leads are changing when a car goes into the pits. We'll let the recap wait until the end of the race, so for now enjoy some shots from last night's action at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti Coupe named Best In Show at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance
Sun, 17 Aug 2014For the first time in the event's 64-year history, the prestigious Best In Show honor at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance has been awarded to a Ferrari. The 1954 375 MM Scaglietti Coupe seen here is owned by car collector Jon Shirley of Medina, WA, and as it turns out, has quite a rich history.
Nevermind the fact that it's currently one of five road-going 375 MMs - this example was ordered by film director Roberto Rossellini, and was actually born as a Pininfarina-bodied competition Spyder. Following an accident, the car's original body wasn't able to be saved, but the chassis was sent to Carrozzeria Scaglietti in Modena for replacement, and the finished product became the company's first passenger car design for Ferrari.
Following its tenure with Rossellini, the car was owned by Mario Savona of Palermo, and later Charles Robert of Paris. Years later, the car was restored by its current owner in 1995, after being found in an underground garage in a Paris suburb.
