Ive had this Ferrari for quite some time. It has mostly sat in my warehouse. I did start the car and occasionally drive around on Sundays. Last year we had the car wrapped for, and took it to events. The car has not been raced, or abused. During the wrap process a few small blisters in the paint were brought to my attention. The blisters were removed, and rust treatment was performed on a couple of surface rust areas the roughly the size of a quarter. After that, I really began to scrutinize the car. I have noticed a few items that I will list below. In general, the car starts and drives very well. The car is complete including the original owners manuals. I really like driving the car, but my lack of attention is beginning to take a toll. The car will need a caring restoration by the next owner. I will list the condition of everything that I am aware of Exterior--No dents or accidents.few small surface blemishespaint is oxidizedwrap is easily removable and will not damage the carall turn lenses are intact and not broken Interior--the seats will need re-upholsteredthe sun roof will need recoverednew carpet would be a plusowners manual presentnothing missing that I've noticedwindows roll up and downdoors open with no sagging trunk-spare wheelextra spare wheel included engine-starts right up warms up in less than a minuteno smokinglast major service at 30,000(14 years ago)could use a tune up(tune up parts included purchased at orlando ferrari)could use valve cover gaskets(few drops after driving, mechanic advised changing valve cover gasketsI would change the beltsnew fans installed in 2014(original fans included) fluidly through all gearsclutch is tight tires--could use new tires brakes--stops fine, but i would replace the pads and grease the bearings The car is drivable around town on short trips, but I haven't driven it over 100 miles in more that 2 years. I wouldn't trust the old tires for highway speeds A car like this deserves an owner that has time to refurbish it. It is a driving project, but it is a project. It is NOT perfect. But it isn't a difficult restoration either. Very solid, low original mileage investment grade Ferrari.

Ferrari planning 458 Speciale Spider?

Wed, 25 Jun 2014

The Ferrari 458 comes from a long line of mid-engined V8 supercars to roll out of Maranello, from the 348 and F355 to the 360 and F430. Each has also bred a Spider version, and starting with the 360 Challenge Stradale (through the 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale), a hardcore performance version. But combining the best attributes of Spider and performance model is relatively new territory for Ferrari, one which it attempted only with the limited-production Scuderia Spider 16M. And if the latest rumors are to be believed, it's about to go at it again.
Though we can't verify its sources, 4WheelsNews says it has double confirmation from within Ferrari that a 458 Speciale Spider is in the works. When reached for confirmation, Ferrari refused to comment, as it typically does on the prospect of new models yet to be announced. Given the precedent of the Scuderia Spider 16M, it would seem to make sense, but for the time being we'll have to chalk this one up as a rumor.
If it were built, the Ferrari 458 Scuderia Spider (or whatever it would ultimately be called) would take the best of the 458 Spider and 458 Speciale to pack the 600-horsepower version of Maranello's sweet-revving 4.5-liter V8 underneath a folding hardtop. The latter is something the 16M did not offer, but crucially, the new McLaren 650S Spider does. We'd also expect only a limited number to be produced at a suitable premium over the Spider's $257k MSRP and the Speciale's $288k sticker.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta takes home 2014 Robb Report Car of the Year [w/video]

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

In what is being called an "unprecedented landslide decision," those who have the right to cast votes have anointed the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta as the 2014 Robb Report Car of the Year. Standout features that have helped the Ferrari earn such a runaway victory include its 0-60 blast of 3.1 seconds, its 211-mile-per-hour top speed and the exhaust note of its 731-horsepower V12 engine.
After being driven by a team of journalists and 100 or so members of the private Robb Report Club, the grand tourer beat out a total of 13 contenders that included the Audi R8 V10 Plus, Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Jaguar F-Type V8 S, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe, Maserati Quattroporte GTS and Dodge SRT Viper GTS.
This is the 21st year that Robb Report has selected a Car of the Year. Scroll down below for the official announcement and video, and feel free to read more about the F12 Berlinetta and some of its worthwhile competitors over at Robb Report.

Corvette gets slidey with Britain's best performance cars

Sat, 18 Oct 2014

Autocar wants to find Britain's best driver's car, and it's challenging a murderers' row of some of the world's best performance vehicles to find out, including the latest Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. All of them were therefore assembled at the Castle Combe Circuit to find a winner.
If it wants to take the crown from this pack of mostly European competitors, the 'Vette has to beat some steep competition. Its challengers include monsters like the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Ariel Atom 3.5R and Jaguar F-Type Coupe. As a further hurdle for the winner to clear, Autocar also has last year's champ among the fighters - the Porsche 911 GT3.
Even if you're not at all interested in the C7, there's still something here for practically any fan of fast cars. The competitors include relative oddities among the pack like the Renault Mégane RS Trophy and Alfa Romeo 4C. Plus, Autocar has some well-positioned microphones that let you hear the Atom wailing like a banshee and the roar of the 458 Speciale. Check out the video to see which one of these all-stars takes home the award this year.
