The
true successor to the gorgeous Dino 246 was the Ferrari 308 GTB which was
unveiled at the Paris Show in 1975. Ferrari returned to Pininfarina for the 308
GTB's styling, and this two-seat, mid-engine coupe sat on a chassis with a
wheelbase that was eight inches shorter than the GT4 upon which it was based.
Production
started with the GTB Berlinetta in 1976, with the 308 GTS Targa variant being
introduced in 1977. The first 712 308s Ferrari built wore fiberglass bodies
before the company switched to steel. In all, just over 12,000 - 308s were
produced from 1976 to 1985.
These
308s had a 3-liter, V-8 powered 1980s icons represent an excellent way to enter
into Ferrari ownership due to their relative affordability and ease of
ownership, and can be divided into three different series. The 308 was
carbureted from 1976 to 1979, with 1976 and 1977 models being especially
desirable due to their more aggressive cams and lack of emissions equipment.
The 308 GTBi and GTSi variants from 1980 to 1982 saw Bosch fuel injection
replace the previous generations' Weber carburetors, and finally in 1983 the
308 GTB and 308 GTS Quattrovalvole (QV) introduced four-valve heads.
The
early carbureted cars 1976 to 1979 and the later QV cars are strongest in the
market place with the 1980 to 1982 GTBi and GTSi two-valve, fuel-injected cars
commanding less due to their lower performance. Some of the 1980 models were
also plagued by an oil consumption issue following the switch from carburetion
to fuel injection.
This
is a beautiful original, matching number 308 GTB. The original owner was Don
Vesco the ex-world land speed record holder. The current owner purchased this
308 - 10 years ago from a wealthy Midwest collector who spent a fortune with
the local Ferrari dealer - Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin, Ohio on a complete
restoration. The exterior color is Verde Pino Mettalizzato with a full Tan leather
interior. Complete with books, tools, records, literature and receipts. The
1977 308 was an early model with a wet sump and carburetors. This is the very
best of the early 308s and is very desirable. Excellent condition and is very
reliable. Only 6,000 have been driven since the full restoration. Beautiful condition!

into containers and secured in wooden frames to minimize the possibility

or Bremen, for instance, is US$1,395.00. This price includes
all costs from our showroom to the port of Antwerp, Felixstowe or Bremen.
The typical journey time from Los Angeles to most European destinations is five weeks, including time for packing, loading and unloading.

The Singapore Formula One Grand Prix is the Monaco GP of the Orient - a weekend known more for its glamour and time-slot than on-track action, with a temporary circuit that punishes every mistake, usually terminally. Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas got the best of Free Practice 1, opening the curtain on a possible resurgence of Silver Arrows performance. By the time qualifying was done, though, it was his teammate Nico Rosberg who lined up second on the grid, followed by Romain Grosjean with a beautiful performance in the Lotus, Mark Webber in the Infiniti Red Bull, and Hamilton all the way back in fifth. Behind them were Felipe Massa outqualifying Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button getting the McLaren into eighth, Daniel Ricciardo with another good Q3 effort to get into ninth, and the shocker of Esteban Gutiérrez getting his Sauber into the top ten for the first time this year. At the front of the pack was Sebastian Vettel. Again. But he was only ahead of Rosberg by a single tenth of a second...
Hennessey Performance Engineering, hot off the heels of its Bugatti Veyron-crushing Venom GT, set its sights on modifying one of the finer Ferrari models. The resulting HPE700 Twin Turbo 458 is a badder, faster 458 Italia with a twin-turbo upgrade that adds 168 horsepower to the already potent 4.5-liter V8. That's 738 hp, which, paired with the extra 134 pound-feet of torque, for a total of 532 lb-ft, is good for a 2.8-second 0-60 run. Low-inertia ball-bearing turbochargers are used to boost the power, and an air-to-water intercooler makes sure the air surging into the combustion chambers is as cool and dense as possible. Twin wastegates and blow-off valves relieve extra boost pressure and, in addition to a new stainless-steel exhaust system, add some new noises to the 458's soundtrack. The V8 is boosted to a relatively mild 7 psi maximum and maintains 6 psi on its way up to redline. A reflash of the engine control unit brings the package together. HPE is confident enough about its wares that the $59,995 upgrade also comes with a one-year/12,000-mile warranty. The HPE700 Twin Turbo 458 is set to be unveiled on Friday at the Concorso Italiano located at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, which is part of California's Monterey Car Week festivities. We've never, ever accused Petrolicious of slacking when it comes to the quality of cars it features. Each week brings a new, exciting, rare vehicle that has some special quality or provenance to it. But this week's video... it's beyond everything else the series has ever done. That's because it stars the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO, also known as (possibly) the most expensive vehicle ever sold. Only 36 were ever built, and this particular 1964 example was the first of the Series II range. Rather than some tinkerer or restorer behind the wheel of this masterpiece, Derek Hill, son of the first American Formula One World Champion, Phil Hill, is on hand for the interview and is slotted into the tight cockpit of the Rosso Corsa masterpiece. This particular GTO was raced multiple times by Hill Sr., and it recorded wins at Daytona and Nassau, thanks in part to its 300-horsepower, 3.0-liter V12 engine. That makes it a bit special for the younger Hill, who can speak with some authority about this car's provenance - and wheel it rather well himself, as he's a fairly accomplished racer in his own right. Of course, if you're like us, you'll forget everything Hill says and will go completely slack-jawed as soon as that V12 starts to sing.
