I have seen these vans go for a wide range of prices.  I really don't know what it's worth.  So here I am...on Ebay letting the free market decide what it's worth.  There's no reserve and I figured I'd start the bidding at $9500.  If nobody bids on it, I'll have a good indication it's worth less than $9500.  I'm hoping for more, so please bid early and often.

I'll be as honest as I can with this, because I know most of you are not going to see it in person.

History...I've had it for over 4 years and put 100K miles on it.  It's been a work van, and that's why it looks like a work van.  Little beat here and there.  Runs exactly the same as the day I got it though.  No real problems.  I just moved out of this van and into my Promaster a couple weeks ago.

Here are some things to consider:

1.  Sliding door is off the rail or something.  It closes most of the way with some force but there is a small gap. The latch that keeps it open does not catch so I use a cord to hold it open when parked on a hill.

2.  Driver power window switch broke but it still rolls up and down (just doesn't have the switch top).  See picture

3. Small/medium dent in the rear door at top. Front right trim (by light) bent when a telephone pole ran into me.  See pictures

4.  Cabin air filter is there but the mount that hold the filter in place broke.  So it's just stuffed in there.  Has worked for 2 years though.

5. A/C works fine but doesn't seem as cold as it use to.  It's more like a normal car now but use to freeze me. The very expensive compressor was replaced last summer and I'm thinking they didn't add enough Freon.  I was driving in 90 degree weather last month and is was fairly comfortable.

6. Couple tears in the seat.  See pic

There is a bulkhead about half way through the back.  I built this to separate the front (office space) from the rear (tool space).  The front has a desk built in and the rear has a couple shelves.  See picture.  If you don't like it, you can easily remove it.  The front is also insulated.  I left some of the wiring and outlets there but the inverter has been removed.

Front windows are tinted which may or may not be legal but probably isn't.  You can remove this though.

Turbo was replaced about a year ago....(very expensive).  EGR valve was replaced a couple years ago. Calipers on the front were replaced 2 years ago.  Tires are about 1/2 gone or so.  All the brakes are fairly new but one of the sensors is broken so the van thinks there is break wear.  I have a new sensor and may put this on this weekend.  I have all service records.

Top torque-to-weight ratios under $100k, $50k and $25k

Tue, 07 Oct 2014

Horsepower may steal a lot of headlines, but the always-more-complex torque figure is often a critical one for both the workingman and the motoring playboy. The measure of rotational force represents the twist that can liquefy one's tires or haul one's horse trailer. Good stuff.
It follows then, that as with the horsepower-to-weight list that we assembled for you a few months ago, a list of cars that offer the most pound-feet with the fewest pounds to carry, is an interesting one to break down. Sure, there's a big difference in how the torque is applied from a turbocharged six-cylinder in a Swedish luxury sedan and a massive heavy-duty truck's turbo-diesel. But being the car/stat geeks that we are, we think it's kinda neat that those two vehicles rank near each other where torque and weight intersect.
As with the horsepower list, we've given you figures as pounds per every one pound-foot. Again broken down into broad price categories, we've got a mixed bag of 2014 and 2015 models here, too. Every effort has been made to select the most up-to-date prices and specs, and we've also to omitted some '14 cars that won't be re-upped after the ongoing yearly changeover.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat revving is sonic bacon

Fri, 23 May 2014

This is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and we're sure that by now, you know its stats, including over 600 horsepower from its 6.2-liter, supercharged V8. What, pray tell, does that blown engine sound like, though?
At least judging on the sonic strength of this video, it's very, very dirty. Honestly, it sounds unlike anything that's come out of the Chrysler Group in a long time, if ever. It's loud, almost brutally so, with a bark that few road-going V8s can match.
Of course, you should be the final judge here. Take a look and a listen at the two videos below, one of which comes from our friends at Cars.com that provides a nice look under the hood, and then let us know what you think of the Hellcat's singing voice in Comments.

Has Dodge stepped in it again with Scat Pack lawsuit?

Mon, 20 Oct 2014

Lawsuits are an unfortunate part of doing business in just about any industry, so the latest complaint filed by a California-based aftermarket firm against Chrysler would seem to be nothing more than business as usual. But this isn't the first time the two companies have sparred over this particular issue.
According to a report from Automotive News, the dispute revolves around the Scat Pack name that Chrysler first offered on the Charger, Coronet, Dart and Super Bee starting in 1968. Scat Enterprises, a manufacturer of crankshafts and other components for Dodges and other vehicles, sued Chrysler for using its name. A few years later the Scat Pack disappeared from the Dodge catalog.
Fast forward to August 2013 when Chrysler applied to register the Scat Pack name anew. The US Patent and Trademark Office turned down Chrysler's application, but the automaker proceeded anyway, unveiling new Scat Packs for the Challenger, Charger and Dart at last year's SEMA show.
