Up for sale is my personal truck.  I bought two of these brand spanking new off Ebay the same day,  as soon as I found out they would be replacing the 5.9 diesel with "something else". I knew that wasn't going to be a good idea since the best truck engine ever made was the 5.9 Cummins. I put one to work that I still have,  and have driven this one for mostly personal use commuting from work, to Sturgis, S.D., Daytona,  or the lake on weekends.  This one has 118,375 miles and is just getting broken in. I currently have a 60 gal aux tank installed that is NOT included unless you want to negoiate a price. Also have chrome nerf step-up bars (not installed, but included).  Since I have my own shop it has had every type of preventative maintentance that could be done with an open checkbook. That included oil changes every 5K, tranny service every 40K,  fuel filter every other oil change, new a/c compressor, new carrier bearings (weak ones come from the factory), and a weak injector was replaced. Most folks don't do these things when they are not exactly broke, but I do.  Just replaced all 6 tires at 100,000K so they are good to go for at least 60-75K more. I use Rotella T, and Amsoil fuel additive and injector at every fill up religiously.  This one has manual windows, manual door locks, and NO carpet. Wouldn't have it any other way. I need air, a CD player, cruise control, and seats I can wipe off,  that's it.  About a year ago a deer ran into me (at night, in the rain, guys) in the rear passenger side area and left a small dent. I fixed the small crack in the fiberglass fender, had it repainted at a dealer, but the small dent remains in the bed that is hard to see.  It also cracked the inner plastic wheelwell covering and I never got around to ordering a new one. They are about $75. It also has a few of scratches on the tailgate, and some on the rear driver door where I tried, unsuccessfully to drive and pull the trash container up the driveway. Anybody else ever done that, or just me?  These are things that distinguish my truck from being new or "mint" as some would like to say, but hey,  it's a truck. Not a $60,000 Lexus with a bed in the back. It has a fiberplastic type bedliner that came with it brand new, but it's NOT the spray-in kind.  Has never, EVER let me down, and is the most powerful (by far) 3500 stock dually made which doesn't have computer problems or too many catalytic converters like the newer ones. I still have my other 5.9 with 350,000K,  and just bought a almost new Chevy only because I couldn't get a 5.9 Cummins in a 2013 model. This is a 1 owner, and is priced low for a 5.9. I am located between Atlanta and Athens, Ga., the reserve is very reasonable, and yes I will sell it before the auction ends IF the reserve isn't reached, and provided you Pal me a deposit. Get a great truck with a Cummins 5.9 without spending a fortune. That's about it Guys, and Girls if you are are brave enough to drive a dually. Am I'm the only one that thinks a woman looks hot drivin a big ole dually, pullin a horse trailer.. Email me for questions, and/or more pics, I know the ones here aren't the greatest, but it was raining all day today. ***Major TAX changes coming to Georgia private sales on March 1st.  Buy it Now and save a grand or more IF you live in Ga., but do it well before auction ends on Mar. 1st*** just sayin...

Dodge Durango to stay classy with Ron Burgundy as spokesperson [w/video]

Sat, 05 Oct 2013

The upcoming 2014 Dodge Durango has a lot of things going for it, including its 290-horsepower V6 and 360-hp Hemi V8 engine options, an eight-speed automatic and aggressive looks. And now it will have Ron Burgundy, the fictional television news anchor played by comedian Will Ferrell, as a spokesperson, Adweek reports. He follows in the footsteps of other non-fictional Chrysler brand spokespeople such as Eminem, Clint Eastwood and the late Paul Harvey.
Though the star of 2004's Anchorman and the upcoming Anchorman 2 is wildly popular, we're not sure we see a Dodge spokesperson in Burgundy. (Please, no womanizing or scotchy, scotch, scotch before test test drives). But at this point there's no turning back: Chrysler's chief marketing officer Olivier Francois previewed three ad spots at the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) Masters of Marketing conference in Phoenix on Friday, and says Chrysler has already filmed 68(!) Durango ads with the fictional newsman.
According to Adweek, one of the ads previewed had Burgundy highlighting the SUV's glovebox size, and in another he compared its horsepower to a white horse standing next to him. Will this help Dodge Durango sales improve? We can only wait and see. In the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts in Comments, and check out the trailer for Anchorman 2 below.

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.

Hero gets his truck back better than new thanks to community support [w/video]

Sun, 29 Jun 2014

You ever hear a story and start cringing before you hear the end because you know how it's going to turn out? That could very well have been the case with the story from a few weeks ago in West Valley City, Utah, where a 14-year-old kid stole his grandfather's Hyundai Veloster and took it for a joyride - through a park full of children. But instead it turned into a heart-warming tale of heroism and a community banding together to do what's right... and then some.
Bryson Rowley was that hero who identified the danger and, rather than sit idly by and watch the joyrider potentially run over a child, got into his truck and drove it into the menacing runaway hatchback. The collision caused some $7,500 to his 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, but instead of getting stuck with the bill - one which his insurance may very well have refused to pay since the crash was, technically speaking, intentional - his community pitched in a helping hand.
Bryan Ellison, who owns West Valley Carstar with his brother, saw the news on television and wanted to help. So he brought Rowley a rental car, picked up his truck and brought it back to his auto repair shop. People from around the community donated parts, and when all was said and done, some $15,000 of work and upgrades were performed on the Ram that was returned to an overwhelmed Bryson Rowley better than new. Watch the video below for the full story.
