1936 Dodge dually.  This truck is killer and built to work.

Here are the specs:
1969 Camaro 327 (block and head numbers match)
Edelbrock 600 cfm 4 bbl with manual choke
1989 Caprice Police Package 700r4 (sun gear is broken, trans needs rebuilt)
1979 Chevy P30 (school bus) dually rear with 3.50 posi rear (truck turns 2600 rpm at 75 mph)
1984 Winnebago "Minnie-Winnie" independent front suspension with power disk brakes in front
GM power steering
New distributor with Pertronix ignition module
Tilt steering out of the school bus
1989 Dodge Caravan seat
Stewart Warner gauge package (all gauges work, including fuel gauge)
Custom saddle tank
Saddle toolbox locking w/key
Red oak solid would flat bed
Howe Racing aluminum radiator (truck runs 180* all day long...even in traffic)
All lights, turn signals, brake lights, running lights work
6 tires with less than 3k miles on them (16.5 on 79 Chevy P30 steel wheels)
West Coast mirrors
76 Corvette caged side pipes under the cab (sounds awesome)
Straight original cab and original frame (rear springs are still factory from 1936 including all overload springs)
I have the original bill of sale for this truck!
Glass is tinted and good (I recently cracked the front window in a hay field)

Here are extras that come with the truck:
6-19.5" road truck tires mounted on steel dually wheels
4 additional Chevy P30 19.5 dually wheels (For extra rake and to lower the highway rpms by 200, I had planned to switch the rear drive tires over to the 19.5" setup. It would look killer with the wheels powdercoated white!)
Will include a heater. It's ugly, but it works and does not leak. Currently out of the truck for the legroom.
Will include a new aftermarket universal heat and air conditioning unit with brand new York compressor. This under dash unit will fit perfectly in the cab and not eat up all your leg room in the process. Since the engine already has the threaded bosses, installation and setup would be remarkably easy on this one.

Now, the bad:
The 700r4 will need replaced or rebuilt. The sun gear broke pulling my trailer. Thankfully, this happened in the driveway. I have a quote to build a killer 700r4, built for towing, for $1,500.  You can change out this trans in less than four hours in your driveway.  For testing purposes, the truck still has 2nd and 4th gears. It will drive onto your trailer or tow rig.  The truck has no parking brake. Cables are there from rear, but terminate at the junction block.

I put more than 7,500 trouble free miles on it in the last year, before the transmission went out.

I have pulled a 5,000 pound plus trailer to Nashville, Charlotte, Daytona, Perry, and all over East Tennessee with this truck. I drove it to Alabama and picked up a running Model A coupe that we drove onto the flatbed. I then hauled the Model A to a customer in Georgia where we backed it off the flatbed. This is all interstate driving and I never had a single issue. We have used it to haul 3 big round bales of hay for the horses numerous times. We even let a guy use it to haul/show/display his museum quality tractor (he displayed the tractor on the bed of the truck for the show in Sevierville last year...if anybody has pictures of that, PLEASE call me so I can get copies. I was unable to go that day and didn't get a single pic!). They both won awards that day.

This truck is a workhorse and fit for daily use. Even one heckuva grocery getter!

You will need to tow it home. It is 84" wide at the rear wheels.  The truck will run and drive to load on your trailer.

Please call or text (423) 309-9584 if you have specific questions.

Edit after a call:  the truck is 21'1" long; it is 89" wide at its widest point (84" from outside tire to outside tire);  it is 74" tall.  I would estimate its weight at roughly 5,000 pounds.

2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit is ready to serve and protect

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

Okay speed freaks, it's time to update your cheat sheet of police headlights, as Dodge has just unveiled the new 2015 Charger sedan's police variant, the Pursuit.
Like previous Charger Pursuits, the 2015 model is based on a modified version of the civilian sedan, featuring the same basic batch of mechanicals and sheetmetal, while adding a number of items specific to the five-oh.
For 2015, cops can select from the same 3.6-ltier V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 available to the civilian population, with former turning out 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and the latter packing 370 ponies and 390 lb-ft. Even loaded down with equipment, Dodge claims the Hemi-powered cop car can hit 60 miles per hour in under six seconds, while both engines are expected return 26 miles per gallon on the highway (thanks to the V8's four-cylinder mode). Rear-wheel drive is standard with both engines, while V8 Pursuits can be fitted with all-wheel drive.

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat in the works

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

In Autoblog's recent First Drive of the 2015 Challenger SRT with the 707-horsepower Hellcat V8 we found its engine to be as brutally powerful as the numbers would suggest, even if it wasn't the best handler. However, the muscle-car-styling just isn't right for some buyers that need four doors and proper rear seats to haul around the family. It appears that Dodge has their backs, though, because the Hellcat is very likely on its way into the Charger in the near future. Imagine the looks on your passengers' faces when you stomp down on the throttle.
According to Road and Track, when Dodge submitted the Hellcat for engine power certification to the Society of Automotive Engineers, the company included the Charger on the paperwork. That showed that the automaker wanted the engine checked out for the sedan, too. R&T reckons the 707-hp Charger would hit the road about a year from now, clearing the Challenger for a year of exclusivity with the powerplant.
When the Charger SRT Hellcat does hit the road, it may carry a very special accolade. Assuming nothing beats it in the meantime, it might be the world's highest horsepower production sedan. Think on that for a second. Even a Mercedes S65 AMG only has 621 horsepower, though a good bit more torque at 738 pound-feet to the Dodge's 650 lb-ft. So while the beastly engine is getting put into other models, where else would you like to see it? The Ram? Grand Cherokee? Let us know in Comments.

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.
