Recent oil change with Penzoil

Truck is surprisingly solid for a 24 year old east coast truck, the paint still shines nice however the roof is fading in places and there is a spot of rot on the passenger side rocker. The frame has very minimal scaling and still has factory paint in places like the leaf shackles etc.. I just installed new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, coil and changed the oil again. The truck has sat for some time so I'm flushing whatever (if any) sludge has built up.

There are a few things that need attention which I will be working on until the truck sells such as..

The valve cover gaskets were slightly weeping, I tightened them up and it actually made it worse. I bought new Fel-pro gaskets however I haven't had a full day to take the valve covers off, strip them and repaint them as well as regasket them. I also bought new Fel-pro intake manifold gaskets.. figure if I go through the effort to do the valve covers the right way I may as well do then while I'm in there.

New universals which I have in the box (greaseable) which will be complete this week (both driveshafts) they are quiet however they are aged.

There are three marker lights on the visor that won't illuminate, I will remove the visor and instal all new lights and rewire the setup.

The passenger door speaker produces no sound. I am going to swap the speaker and if it works will continue to replace all the speakers with Sony units.

The master door lock switch is not working however the passenger door switch works. May be a bad contact (doubtful) or I will hunt one down off a parts truck.

The rubber grommet on the strike for the tailgate is mia, another parts truck item.

Carpet could use a shampoo (not dirty, just a little dingy). I may spring for the factory correct floormats however they take two weeks to make.

Trim needs to be rechromed in places or possibly just a dremel buffer with a good compound.

Odds and ends that are associated with a truck that's 24 years old and rides like a tank.

The truck is for sale locally so the auction can end at any time. Cash only at pickup, must pick the truck up within one week.

Dodge to resurrect Scat Pack?

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

Before social media ever existed, if automotive enthusiasts wanted to be noticed or recognize other fans, they joined a car club. For Dodge muscle car lovers from 1968 through 1971, that group was known as the Scat Pack. Just like the Charger, Challenger and Dart nameplates, it looks like the Scat Pack could be getting a resurrection by Chrysler.
Automotive News is reporting that Chrysler recently renewed its trademark on the Scat Pack name, and while this is in no way a guarantee that the name will return, AN talked to Tim Kuniskis, Dodge President and CEO, who stoked the fire a little more. In the article, Kuniskis said that the name is "a very important part of our history" and added that "we like the whole idea of having a Scat Pack of cars." Scat Pack models were identified by their bumblebee stripes and helmet-wearing bumblebee logo, and the idea of a modern Scat Pack doesn't seem all that outlandish in light of recent vehicles like the Charger SRT Super Bee and the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee Concept.
What do you think, is this a cool idea, or is it just an unwelcome bit of nostalgia? Have you say in Comments.

Small number of 2013 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger models recalled

Sun, 24 Feb 2013

A small number of units of the 2013 Chrysler 200 (inset) and 2013 Dodge Avenger are being recalled over a broken control valve in the fuel tank assembly. The potential 1,785 sedans were manufactured late last year, and if affected with a broken control valve could suffer from stalling or fuel leakage.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that the recall should begin next month, at which time owners can take their cars to dealers for repair free of charge. The full release with more information is just below.

2015 Dodge Viper getting small increase in power

Tue, 29 Jul 2014

The Viper is used to being the most powerful car in the Dodge and SRT stables, but the arrival of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat means that's no longer the case. The serpentine supercar is, however, reportedly getting a small boost in output for 2015, amounting to all of five horsepower.
The increase was uncovered by Road & Track courtesy of the SAE J1349 certification process to which Detroit's Big Three automakers submit themselves and which reports the Viper's output at 645 hp instead of the 640 it was rated at until now. There are a hundred factors that could have contributed to the relatively mild boost in output (best guess? nothing at all changed...), but we doubt anyone's going to complain about some extra horses under the hood.
The five-horsepower boost brings the Viper that much closer to the 650-hp Chevy Corvette Z06, not to mention the 707-hp Hellcat, but the Viper's impressive power-to-weight ratio ought to mean it'll have little problem keeping up in a straight line - which is just one of the reasons why Chrysler won't shoe-horn the Hellcat into the Viper: as R&T points out, the supercharged engine is too heavy and the blower makes it too tall to fit in the Viper's engine bay.
