One of the few remaining vintage trucks from the Herb Hobi Collection and Estate!

Hello Again all you Dodge Fans!  There are only 3 Dodges left in the Estate and this week I am proud to put the Late, Great Herb Hobi's 1952 Dodge M37 up for auction!

My father was fulfilling a dream when he passed, suddenly, 4 years ago: A dream to have the nicest Vintage Dodge Trucks of each model.   This was something started 42 years ago with a 1960 WM300 and still includes a perfect 1942 3/4 Command Car.  Each truck he purchased had something special.

The M37 is not a unique vehicle.  However, there are few out there that are ready to go at the press of the ignition and get you wherever you need to go!

As many of you know, the unique 24volt system is a complicated system.  The 1st item on his list was a solid electrical set up with no bugs, shorts, worn wires etc.  Dodge designed this unique system to work seamlessly with redundancy and this truck is wired exactly as intended.  It includes 2 brand new high output 12 volt batteries (located under the seat) and the truck will fire right up for generations to come.  The gauges and lights all work as they should.

Next was to ensure that the truck could handle the rough side of the road (or no road at all!)  Some of the collection was for show and Sunday drives.  The Sundays in the M37 was spend off road, up hills, fording creeks and taking kids for rides through the brush of the Oregon hillsides.  Though he only was able to take this out a few dozen times, he made the most of them.

He called it his "Humvee" after the first massive fir tree he crossed over on his way to winching his way out of a four foot deep creek.  Each of these adventures finished with a thorough cleaning.  My Dad knew every nook and cranny of each Dodge and new where to clean out the mud so that rust would never form.  He planned on driving this for another 20 years and kept excellent care of it.

So if you are not a dealer or a broker and you appreciate this vehicle for what it was truly designed for; getting troops in and out of battle, through whatever terrain got in the way, this truck is for you.

HAPPY BIDDING.

KIND REGARDS,

BRADLEY HOBI

Chrysler recalling over 200k vehicles across its brands

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

With more than 200,000 units across six separate recalls and almost all of its brands, it appears that Chrysler has officially jumped headfirst into the recall pool this month. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued three official recalls for the automaker, and The Detroit News is reporting that the automaker itself has announced three more.
The biggest of the recalls applies to about 120,000 Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger and Chrysler 300 models for 2011 and 2012 due to faulty wiring harnesses for the seat-mounted side airbags, which could lead to these airbags not deploying in the event of a crash. A little more than 60,000 two-wheel-drive versions of the 2007-2008 Dodge Nitro and 2008 Jeep Liberty SUVs are being recalled due to a heat shield that could cause the driveshaft to break, which if that isn't bad on its own, could then hit underneath where the airbag sensor is mounted, causing the airbags to deploy. Wrapping up NHTSA's recall notices, about 20,000 Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass models for 2012 are also being recalled due to a problem with the fuel tank transfer tube that could lead to the vehicle stalling. The LX car recall campaign is going into effect this month, while the other two will start next month - all three notices are posted below.
In addition to the official NHTSA recalls, The Detroit News is also reporting that Chrysler is recalling more than 16,000 Ram trucks and a small number of Dodge Dart sedans. Around 6,500 2013 Ram 1500 trucks will be recalled due to an improper adjustment of the parking brake cable from the factory, while 7,000 Cummins-powered 2013 Ram Heavy Duty trucks are being recalled due to an engine cover that does not have as much heat resistance as it is supposed to. Finally, a total of 46 Dodge Dart sedans are being recalled due to a problem with the brake calipers and/or parking brake.

Watch this Dodge Viper get clawed to death

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

There's a scene in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale, where Daniel Craig's Agent 007 is captured by villain Le Chiffre, played by Mads Mikkelsen. Le Chiffre tortures Bond in a scene that is rather difficult to watch (especially for blokes) and impossible to describe on these digital pages (Google at your own risk). This video is the automotive equivalent of the Casino Royale torture scene.
It shows a Dodge Viper - a late, first-generation GTS judging by the center-exit exhausts - getting assaulted by a giant piece of heavy equipment. The large claw shows no mercy on the V10-powered sports car, rending its muscular curves into pieces and then running it over, just for good measure. It's a painful video to watch (and hear!), made worse because we don't know what the Viper did to deserve such a fate. About a third of the way through the video, the cameraman indicates that the man with the claw is a new operator from Chrysler, and it appears there may be some fire damage, but beyond that, we don't have much to go on.
Scroll down for the video but be warned, it isn't for the faint of heart.

Marchionne on Alfa's US return, Dodge Dart's powertrain weakness and minivan plans

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

As a reporter covering an auto show, the one opportunity you never want to miss is going to the Sergio Marchionne press briefing.
"This undertaking to bring Alfa back is a one-shot deal... We are not going to do this twice."
There just aren't that many real characters left in the auto industry. Marchionne, who sits atop both Chrysler and Fiat, is not only one of the smartest execs in the business, but also the most frank. Herein, a sample of the quotable always-sweatered executive:
