Body The body is in great shape, it needs new paint, The person that did this truck in the past did a frame off Resto Mod , I assuming he spend several thousands on it, (See pictures), not sure how long ago (see pictures). I did not see any major body work needed, other than stripping the paint and prepare it for new paint. (However it might need minimal body work, depending on how perfect you want the truck). No rust, some surface, all in great shape. Mechanical condition: Truck starts right up, (see the video). MOPAR Performance 360 Engine.
the motor sounds good however some smoke is coming out the truck, not that much while driving. It is a Very Fast Truck, Drives good, transmission shifts OK. Brakes are working, but they may need adjustment or maintenance Gauges seem to be working (Not Sure if the gas gauge is working correctly) Electrical all Lights seem to work fine, dash lights up, Interior Newer model truck seats , (burgundy /red) and the steering wheel looks also from a truck like that, FRAME looks like a newer frame from a pick up truck, I DON'T Think this is the original frame, I am Not Sure, I assume because of the disc brakes. and the gas tank looks newer. Not sure, but in my opinion this frame needs some welding done at the front, I Think the front clip will need to be reinforced, or changed. Some reinforcement may be needed on the frame. When I got the truck I had in mind to put a new frame and rebuilt the motor, or use the body to put it in a newer ram 2500, with a diesel engine. But I have 5 projects going on at the moment, and I don't think I will be able to put my hands on this one this year. So I decided to sell it. However I am not in a rush to sell, Pretty much I am looking to get my money back, if not I will leave it in stand by till I can get my hands on this truck. it is a great Project Truck and I like it a lot. How to turn a Dodge airport tug into a trail slayer
Sun, 16 Nov 2014Sometimes, having a ton of fun requires takes a ton of work. Just nine days before the so-called Ultimate Adventure 2014, the folks behind 4-Wheel & Off-Road had 40 tasks to complete in order to turn the ratty truck pictured above into a machine that could excel on treacherous off-road trails while still being able to handle highway jaunts. Much of process behind the build was chronicled on the latest episode of Dirt Every Day.
The team's vehicle started life as a 1990 Dodge tug truck that spent part of its life hauling around airplanes. The builders hung on to the Cummins six-cylinder diesel, but they tossed out practically everything else for the project, with some seriously heavy-duty replacement parts for the transmission, transfer case, axles and a whole lot more. The process was certainly a ton of work, but the end result looks like a fantastic crawler.
Sure, it might have been easier to bring a truck that was already prepared, but where would the fun in that have been? Stay tuned until the end of the video for a few glimpses of the completed Dodge and peek at some of the punishment it goes through.
Chrysler to accelerate production of 2013 Ram and V6 engines
Fri, 16 Nov 2012Chrysler is adding a third shift at its Warren Truck plant to meet demand for the new 2013 Ram pickup. And with tight supplies of its Pentastar V6, the company is also boosting output at its Mack Engine plant.
The expansions will add 1,250 jobs and are part of a $238 million investment by Chrysler in the Detroit area. Warren's third shift will begin work sometime in the spring, a Chrysler rep told Automotive News. Mack's increased Pentastar production a could include both 3.6 and 3.2-liter engines.
The company says it also plans to invest $40 million in its Trenton Engine plant to allow for production of a 3.2-liter V6 as well as the Tigershark inline-four for the upcoming Jeep Liberty replacement.
Roadkill builds crazy-cheap 1968 Dodge Charger rat rod using an old motorhome
Tue, 24 Dec 2013Certain requests for description simply cannot be fulfilled, like if someone asked you to describe Picasso's Guernica or Gilliam's Brazil. There is only one appropriate answer to such entreaties, and that is: "You just gotta see it." That's where we are with the latest episode of Roadkill, wherein Messr's Freiburger and Finnegan dig out a 1968 Dodge Charger that Freiburger acquired in exchange for a set of cylinder heads, and intend to stuff it with the big-block motor from a long-bed, three-quarter ton Dodge pickup.
Only the pickup is too nice to tear apart, and the Charger needs a whole lot more lovin' - and parts - than initially expected. Enter, stage right, the Class A Dodge Pace Arrow motorhome with a 440 big-block purchased for $1,000, and a retired Plymouth Fury from a previous episode.
What ensues over the course of the 40-minute installment is more cuttin', yankin', leakin', stallin', hammerin' and smokin' action than you've seen in a long time, and some techniques that would have made even Cooter wonder, "I'm not sure if we should do that." By the end, though, the payoff is good enough to make you think about perusing AutoTrader for a '68 Charger just to see if maybe...
