This ebay item is a restored 1947 Dodge model WF-21 / 1.5 ton flat bed stake dump truck that was purchased new in 1947 by the GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY (GNR) as a railway maintenance truck. The Great Northern Railway was founded in 1856 in Spokane Wa. and operated from Wa. to Chicago, Winnipeg Man. British Columbia, and northern California. GNR was purchased by the Burlington Northern Railway and ceased operations in 1970.
This truck was last plated in Wa.by GNR in 1963, at 60,575 original miles when it was retired from service. It was stored in Spokane Wa. until I purchased it in 2005. It was never damaged or rusted. It spent the next 7 years being completely restored in my shop, and was safety certified and replated for road use in Sept. 2012.
As my photos show, this truck has had a complete restoration, and is highly detailed under the hood, in the cab, and the exterior is painted in the official GNR railway colors of orange / green. There was enough forensic remnants of the old GNR name and colors on the driver's and passenger doors from which I reproduced two new GNR stickers for each door to the exact same design, dimensions and colors of the original.
From a mechanical standpoint, the engine has been rebuilt and the radiator was recored. The brakes, 4 speed transmission, and rear end are excellent. The truck has a TWO TON CAPACITY HEIL HYDRAULIC HOIST which also has been rebuilt and works perfectly. All NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM. All gauges in the dash work properly, and 1947 was the last year that Dodge trucks had a CRANK OUT WINDSHEILD, and it works perfectly in this truck. The truck has ALL NEW 7.50-20" TIRES with the paper manufacturer stickers still showing on the treads. All lights function on this trucks including TURN SIGNALS. To conclude, the truck runs, stops and drives excellent with no issues at all.
The interior is completely detailed with new dark tan door panels and ceiling that matches the color of the seat. The seat and seat back have been completely rebuilt with extra foam padding at a cost of $600.00 which is now extremely comfortable way beyond the factory original. The seat and seat back was fitted with new heavy duty vinyl fabric with green piping to match the light green color of the dash. The dash has all new knobs with a new restored steering wheel. The truck is also fitted with a new restored, factory correct, MOPAR MODEL 36 HEATER for a very pleasant warm ride on a cool day. The cab also has a interior courtesy light with switch above the rear window. The truck cab has ALL NEW TINTED GLASS.
The 9.5 ft. flat bed dump body has an industrial grade checker plate steel floor that was originally installed by the railway company and is now fitted with new green wood stake racks with correct 1947 vintage N.O.S. cast iron hook and eye hardware that allows for quick removal of any section or sections of the rack as needed. The truck is also fitted with a heavy duty REAR HITCH for trailer towing if desired.
Notice in my photos how compact this 1.5 ton truck really is which is not much larger than a regular pickup, but has way more load capacity and the convenience of a dump body.
Also included in this truck is a 1947 Dodge truck glove box OWNERS MANUAL and official GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY FIRST AID KIT, ENGINEERS CAP, AND 1953 RAILWAY OPERATING SCHEDULE. If you are a dedicated railway buff and would like the opportunity to have a genuine rail road maintenance truck in your garage to compliment the model railroad in your basement, then this is the ultimate railroad collector item for you. Own it while you have this wonderful opportunity.
Truck is located in Ontario Canada, approx. 2 hrs. from Port Huron Michigan. Truck has a clear Ontario title. Owner is willing to assist with loading, or can broker and deliver the truck to U.S.A. locations along Interstate 75 south at extra cost. Purchaser is required to pay a non refundable deposit of $1000.00 within 24 hrs. of auction close, with full payment by certified check before pickup or delivery.

QB says University of Alabama offered him a Corvette to play football
Fri, 16 May 2014The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team could be in some hot water, following a pair of posts on social media.
The first post was sure to raise a few eyebrows on its own. It's an Instagram of sophomore running back Derrick Henry standing in front of his new Dodge Challenger (we're guessing it's an R/T based on the fender stripes). Complete with a custom set of wheels, the image was enough to trigger more than a few questions about where an unemployed student-athlete came up with the money for such a purchase. Now, this could be harmless. Henry, flush with a full-ride to Bama could have convinced his parents to get him something nice with his college fund.
The second post, though, is a straight-up accusation. It comes from former West Virginia Mountaineer and current CFL quarterback Pat White, who posted the following on his Facebook page.

NHTSA investigating 110,000 Ram 2500s and 3500s, one death alleged
Fri, 23 May 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation focusing on 110,000 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups from model years 2004 to 2006. One death has already been reported, according to NHTSA, due to a potential fault with the clutch interlocks on manual-transmission versions of the heavy duty pickup.
According to the report, these trucks can be started without depressing the clutch. There have been three reports so far, and as we mentioned above, one very sad incident seems to have resulted in the death of a child.
"One complaint involved an incident that occurred when a child was able to enter the vehicle and start the ignition without depressing the clutch. The vehicle then moved forward striking another child resulting in a fatality," NHTSA said in the investigation bulletin, which you can view below.
