This is a very nice, clean 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger that has been my wife's since high school.  It has been very well taken care of and always stored under cover.  Original mileage on the vehicle is over 116K.  The work to the motor, trans, and paint has all been done within the last 10k miles.  Car appears to be rust free and does not have any areas of bubbling paint.

The car has a mildly built 318 with an aggressive cam, Edelbrock four barrel carb, Holley Street Dominator Intake Manifold and Long Tube Headers with an exhaust system that sounds great.  It also has finned aluminum Weiand valve covers, chrome plated alternator, a stainless steel fan shroud and a finned aluminum air filter housing.

The 727 automatic transmission was rebuilt less than a thousand miles ago and has a 3000 stall converter.

The rear axle is a stock 8 3/4" mopar rear end.

The stance of the car has been lowered to give it a great look.  It rides on Firestone Firehawk tires; 195/70R14 in the front, and 235/60R15 in the rear, all on black steel rims with Dodge "dog dish" hubcaps.

The exterior of the car is in very good condition; blue paint with black bumble bee stripe and a black striped hood with functional scoop.  One area on the driver's side rear quarter panel that may need attention in the future.

The interior of the car has been redone also.  The seats have blue velour and black vinyl that is in excellent condition with all stock seat belts present.  Carpet is an original style hoop in a lighter blue.  A CD player is in the dash with two speakers in the rear deck and two more in the front kick panels.

This vehicle has been described to the best of my knowledge.  The vehicle is available for viewing or inspection by appointment by contacting me at (719)569-2306.  If you would like additional pictures or information, please call me prior to bidding.

I do not need assistance selling the vehicle by a third party and have heard all the scams so please don't waste my time.

The vehicle and title will not be released until full payment has cleared through my bank or the cash is in my hand.  Transportation of the vehicle is the responsibility of the winning bidder.  I am available to transport the vehicle within a 200 mile radius of my home for a fee, please contact me prior to bidding to make arrangements should you should be the winning bidder.  Full payment for the vehicle is required within seven days of close of auction.

Dodge pulls New Girl and The Office stars for new Dart spots

Wed, 06 Aug 2014

Dodge is hoping that a heavy dash of humor helps it move some more units of the Dart with a hilarious ad campaign called Don't Touch My Dart. The spots star actors Craig Robinson, best known for his role as Darryl on The Office, and Jake Johnson from New Girl as neighbors and friends playing a game of one-upmanship over Robinson's new car. Johnson is envious of the ride and just wants to touch it.
The ads are pretty funny if you're a fan of somewhat absurdist humor, and Robinson has just the right amount of over-the-top seriousness to really make the commercials work. They have kind of a Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote vibe with Johnson constantly in inept pursuit of what he wants, but he clearly isn't getting it.
The first four spots in the campaign are already online, but according to Dodge this is just the beginning. The company says that it's planning about 24 different versions of these ads in various lengths to play on TV and online. You can check out the ads titled First Scratch, Birdhouse Police Garage Door and Voice Touching below, along with the brand's release about the new ads. There's also a pretty good gag on its YouTube page with Robinson protecting his Dart.

2003-04 Dodge Viper recalled for sudden airbag deployment

Fri, 15 Feb 2013

As if driving the old Dodge Viper (not the fancy new SRT model) isn't intimidating enough, imagine trying to wrangle that V10 beast and then suddenly having the airbags deploy. Yikes. That's apparently what could happen to some 3,660 Viper models from the 2003 and 2004 model years, and as such, Chrysler has issued a recall.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, part of the car's airbag control module may fail, causing the bags or seatbelt pre-tensioners to deploy without warning while the vehicle is in operation. That's a dangerous scenario in any car, let alone one offering insane horsepower a near-total paucity of safety nannies should things get squirrely.
Owners will be notified this month about the recall, though a remedy is not expected to be available until later this year. Scroll down for the full NHTSA statement.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.
