I purchased this truck in Tucson AZ in 1990 with 3,000 miles on it. I drove it for about 5 years and put the majority of the miles on it in AZ. I sold it to my parents in Western PA around 1995. They used it as an extra car in the summer months and took it to local shows. The truck is very original with a few add-ons that can be easily removed. It has a custom fiberglass bed cover, fiberglass running boards and bug deflector. It also has tinted headlight covers not pictured. I had the transmission rebuilt at around 60,000 miles. The truck is all original including the paint with the exception of the passenger fender due to a minor accident. The front bumper was also replaced. There is a very small ding in the tailgate (see pic) and the rear bumper has a minor twist in it.

Everything works on the truck including the A/C. It has minor chips in the paint (see pics), but I would not repaint the truck. The stripes have nics and some cracking, but I have a complete set of NOS stripes that are included with the truck. When the radiator is filled to the top it leaks fluid, however once it gets about an inch from the top it stops and the truck never overheats.

General Information about Shelby Dakotas

1989 Shelby Dodge Dakota - Until 1989 the mid size Dodge Dakota Truck was powered only by 4 and 6 cylinder engines. Dodge changed that in "89" by adding the Dakota to the list of vehicles hopped-up by Carroll Shelby. Assembled at Shelby Industries in Whittier, CA. These trucks would be the first Dakota's to receive a V-8. They would also be the first V8 rear wheel drive vehicles built since the 1960's by Shelby.
The Shelby Dakota started life as a standard 112-inch wheelbase Dodge Dakota Sport model. In place of the 3.9-liter V-6, Shelby added a 318 (5.2 liter) cubic inch V-8 with dual throttle body injection. The engine was rated at 175 hp at 4,000 rpm and 270 lbs.-ft. of torque at 2,000 rpm. To make the 318 fit in the Dakota, Shelby Industries had to modify the cooling system. The Dakota had no room for a standard engine driven fan. A electric fan was used to over come this

The Shelby Dakota's engine also used a dual snorkel air cleaner that functioned just like older musclecars. Shelby then plumbed the primary snorkel to the grill for cooler air. A four-speed automatic linked to a 3.91-geared Sure-Grip differential rounded out the drivetrain. The heavy-duty suspension was carried over directly from the V6 Dakota Sport and featured Shelby five-spoke aluminum wheels with Goodyear Eagle GT+4s in 225/70HR-15.On the outside, the Shelby Dakota was available in red or white. The package included a deep front air dam with integrated driving lights, Blacked out trim, Fiberglass light bar, Bold Shelby graphics down the sides including V8 graphics on each fender, Shelby Windsheild Logo and a chrome Shelby logo on the grill. The interiors on the Shelby Dakota's were identical, the package included a leather wrapped steering wheel with Shelby logo. Shelby dash plaques, Shelby logo cloth inserts on the seats and door panels. Performance was reported at 0-60 in 8.7 seconds and the quarter mile in 16.5 seconds at 82mph. List price for the Dodge Dakota Shelby was $15,813 plus freight. The Shelby Dakota was only available for one year with production totals around 1,500. (1475 : 480 in white and 995 in red)

eBay Find of the Day: 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 with 504 miles

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

It's typically hard to find early examples of the Dodge Viper that haven't been crashed or modified, but one eBay seller has a showroom-fresh version of the V10 roadster up for sale worthy of an eBay Find of the Day.
With just 504 miles on the odometer (according to the description and not the images) and "no defects at all," this 1994 Viper is a rare find indeed. Tack on the Buy It Now price of just $37,500 and it seems like a steal - especially when checking out the prices and conditions of other early Vipers currently listed on eBay.
Even after spending months ogling the all-new 2014 SRT Viper, it's hard to ignore the raw beauty of the original open-top model. From the three-spoke wheels to the calf-searing side pipes, everything about this Viper looks just the way it did when it rolled off the line almost 20 years ago. The seller even says that the top and windows have never been installed meaning there are no scratches anywhere on this car!

QB says University of Alabama offered him a Corvette to play football

Fri, 16 May 2014

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team could be in some hot water, following a pair of posts on social media.
The first post was sure to raise a few eyebrows on its own. It's an Instagram of sophomore running back Derrick Henry standing in front of his new Dodge Challenger (we're guessing it's an R/T based on the fender stripes). Complete with a custom set of wheels, the image was enough to trigger more than a few questions about where an unemployed student-athlete came up with the money for such a purchase. Now, this could be harmless. Henry, flush with a full-ride to Bama could have convinced his parents to get him something nice with his college fund.
The second post, though, is a straight-up accusation. It comes from former West Virginia Mountaineer and current CFL quarterback Pat White, who posted the following on his Facebook page.

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.
