1978 Dodge Charger SE. 3rd owner car! 88,406 miles on body. I was a professional Mechanic and Service Manager for 10 years, and I'm as close to a perfectionist as you can get. At 82,000 miles, I performed the following work to the car:

.040 over Jasper 360 short block engine
Lightly massaged factory Cylinder Heads
Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold, Carb, Cam, and Lifter kit
Headers and custom 3" stainless steel Exhaust.
Transmission rebuilt with mild Shift Kit installed.
Differential serviced.
New Power Steering Pump.
New master Cylinder.
New Radiator & Fan Clutch.
New Alternator.
New A/C Compressor & Expansion Valve w/134A refrigerant.
New Belts, Hoses, Ignition Wires, etc.
Virtually EVERYTHING under the hood was replaced! In addition, I have also replaced;
Shock Absorbers
Wheel Bearings
4 New Tires/Alignment
Inside, I have installed a Kenwood CD player/stereo w/4 new speakers, a small console tachometer, and a triple gauge set. The remainder of the interior you see in the pictures is all original, except the Rear View Mirror and the console cover which needed re-covering. There are no cracks in the original dash pad, and the interior is in great shape!
The car runs like new, and is driven weekly. I would hop in and drive this car ANYWHERE (and do)!
While a beautiful car and a great running classic, it is not perfect. I have not addressed any of the bodywork on the car yet. It was rust-proofed by the original selling dealer (it's everywhere!), but time does take it's toll on older cars of this age. Please look at the pictures. On the right side, there is some rust beginning to show through the lower fenderwells, and there are two spots directly below the vinyl top that have rusted through and will need attention. In addition, this car was ordered with the heavy sound insulation package. Unfortunately the trunk seal had failed, and the sound insulation saturated and began some rust in the trunk. I removed the insulation upon buying the car, but the damage was done. The edges of the trunk lid have a little surface rust due to poor prep procedures from an old repair job. I don't believe the car has EVER been in a major accident, but the couple shades of Burgundy that are on it tells me it's had a few previous minor scrapes.
The ONLY thing I could say that's not perfect about the engine is that apparently it's got a "lazy lifter". From time to time when started cold, one lifter will tick lightly until it pumps up. It's a minor issue, but one I have wanted to address. The interior will need a new headliner (it has been replaced, but is sagging), and there is a very small tear in the driver's seatback.
I have done my best to honestly represent what this car is (and isn't). While not perfect, it is still a beautiful example of Chrysler's Cordoba/Charger/Magnum body style, and far more rare than a Cordoba due to lower sales numbers. I do believe this to be a "one of one" optioned car, but I can not verify that fact. I have over $10,000.00 invested, and must sell immediately.
Please remember that your bid is a binding agreement to purchase. If you're not serious, don't place a bid! I am advertising this car locally, and reserve the right to cancel auction at any time. $500.00 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT is due within 24 hours of auction close. Remainder of payment MUST be made within one week, and vehicle must be picked up within 2 weeks. If you have any questions, please email me. I will answer any questions that I can. Thank you!

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.

Dodge Dart Mopar '13 special edition recalled over airbag woes

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

Dodge is only building 500 examples of the black-and-blue Mopar '13 Dart, but the majority of them are now being recalled. Part of the Mopar upgrade included replacing the stock seat skins in the Dart with black and blue Katzkin leather, but the seat-mounted side airbags were reinstalled improperly during the upfitting process, which could affect the performance of the front seat side airbags.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin, a total of 374 Mopar '13 cars are being recalled due to side airbags that might not deploy in a side-impact collision. There have been no reports of the airbags not going off, but Chrysler will still need to reinstall the bags to ensure proper deployment. The recall notice is posted below, which gives information for Mopar '13 owners to contact Chrysler and NHTSA.

QB says University of Alabama offered him a Corvette to play football

Fri, 16 May 2014

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team could be in some hot water, following a pair of posts on social media.
The first post was sure to raise a few eyebrows on its own. It's an Instagram of sophomore running back Derrick Henry standing in front of his new Dodge Challenger (we're guessing it's an R/T based on the fender stripes). Complete with a custom set of wheels, the image was enough to trigger more than a few questions about where an unemployed student-athlete came up with the money for such a purchase. Now, this could be harmless. Henry, flush with a full-ride to Bama could have convinced his parents to get him something nice with his college fund.
The second post, though, is a straight-up accusation. It comes from former West Virginia Mountaineer and current CFL quarterback Pat White, who posted the following on his Facebook page.
