1973 Dodge Charger Base 5.2l on 2040-cars
Brook Park, Minnesota, United States
Nice 1973 Dodge Charger. Original "Mopar Yellow Twist" or "Top Banana" color last year. New rocker panels and metal throughout. Interior is not too bad for original. The dash is cracked, the headliner is ripped. All doors, windows, trunk, work fine. Rebuilt 318 bored .030" over with new pistons and rings and 360 heads. New mild cam. Edelbrock intake and 650 CFM mechanical four barrel. Dual exhaust with glass packs. OEM manifolds. It has a righteous sound. It idles great, and really opens up at 3,000 RPM. Clean title, 115,500 miles. Gauges, speedometer work. Taillights work. New break lines throughout. It can bark the tires of course. This is the car to have, it is a runner or driver. It really turns heads. You could commute to work in it. You can take it to church in the morning, to the track and race it, then take the wife/girlfriend to a fancy restaurant or a drive in at night. You could do a frame off resto on it as well. In frame off, these are about $25,000. The motor is done, just dress it up with valve covers etc. The Dodge Charger held on to the muscle car era, and was the first to come back to life. These original are getting rare. In this price range extremely rare. The value will only go up. This has the extremely rare bubble hood. This is American knowledge and power at its height. No metric on this, no computer, just power and style. It has the coke bottle body style, Mopar "B". No AC, no power steering, brakes or windows. AM radio. |

Chrysler celebrates 30 years of minivans with special editions
Tue, 03 Sep 2013It's been known by many names: the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager, Chrysler Voyager, Lancia Voyager, Volkswagen Routan, Ram Cargo Van... but the bottom line is that Chrysler's minivans have defined the segment for 30 years now. In fact, Chrysler says it has sold 13 million of them since 1983, helped along by the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan that accounted for nearly half of all minivans sold in the United States just last year. So to celebrate this three-decade milestone, the Auburn Hills auto has announced a pair of new special editions.
The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition starts the Touring-L trim and includes such special touches as 17-inch wheels, unique badging, available Granite Crystal Pearl paint and an interior decked out in black Alcantara and Nappa leather, piano black trim and all the optional bells and whistles bundled in.
The 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan 30th Anniversary Edition, meanwhile, starts off with either the SE or SXT trims and also upgrades with 17-inch alloys as well as color-keyed mirrors and an interior with silver stitching, piano black trim, power everything, and of course, those special badges.
2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee
Tue, 12 Mar 2013I can pinpoint the exact moment when I fell in love with this car. It was starting down a nearly straight entrance ramp at 15 miles per hour when I buried the throttle. In a moment, I was thrown back into my seat as the big SRT8's engine came to life with commensurate sound, fury and force, bringing me up to 75 mph in what felt like two blinks of an eye. This thing feels so much quicker than its 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque would lead you to believe. And mashing the right pedal never, ever gets old.
But beyond sheer speed, I found a whole lot to like about the Charger SRT8 during my week with the Pitch Black test car here in Detroit. And while the whole Super Bee kit isn't really my style, it's really easy to overlook those badges for a package that offers so much for so little.

Chrysler recalling 278,222 trucks and SUVs over bad rear axles
Thu, 14 Feb 2013Chrysler has issued a recall of 278,222 light trucks and sport utility vehicles here in the United States. The reason: bad rear axles. Specifically, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the rear axle pinion nut may lack a necessary adhesive patch, which could cause the nut to loosen. If this happens, the axle can lock up, which could cause all sorts of havoc on the road.
This is an expansion of the rear axle recall announced in October of last year, where 44,300 Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota models were being called in. At that time, 12 accidents had been reported due to the faulty axle pinion nut.
Affected vehicles include Ram 1500 trucks from the 2009 to 2012 model years, Dodge Dakota models from the 2009 to 2011 model years, and both the Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango SUV twins, both from the 2009 model year only.
