Vehicle Title:Clear
Make: Datsun
Drive Type: rear
Model: Z-Series
Mileage: 135,553
Trim: 2-Door
I am the second owner of this vehicle. Purchased from the original owner in 1976, 37 years ago (who I interviewed) with 30,000 miles. I drove it from 1976 to 1989 and accumulated 135,553 miles. Have a Holley 4 barrel conversion kit and pre 1973 carburetors (SU Type). Do not have the original 1973 carburetors. Took the car out of service in 1989 and stripped to the body. All of the items taken off the car along with the engine where stored inside. The car was blasted with baking soda and primed. The shop I gave the car to to do the body work went out of business, I was out of the country and never got back to it. The car sat outside covered with a tarp from 1993 to present. All items removed from the running car included. The dash, console, and seats are included although not pictures as they were stored in another location. The dash has 2 cracks on top as they usually do. Seats are in good shape considering age. The aftermarket fiberglass nose kit is shown on the car, the original headlight bezels and front lower cowling are included. The original left front fender is included although dented, a replacement aftermarket left front fender is shown on the car. The car originally came with a York A/C compressor which was swapped for a rotary compressor installed on the lower left side of the engine in the air pump location. Condition:The body is in good shape, dent free. There is rust around the back of the seat mounts, the rest of the body is sound. Rocker panels are in good shape and sound. Lower fender wells have surface rust but it will sand off, no rust penetrations. See the tapping video. The car was repainted twice. Both times by the owner. The 2nd time it was stripped, zinc chromate primed and finished in Porsche 565 Metallic Silver Acrylic Lacquer. Original engine and transmission with matching VIN. Shipping and Payment: Cash Payment. Free on Board, Buyer responsible for picking up, packaging, and transport from Anniston, Alabama. (3 miles off of I-20 Exit 188, available for pick-up between November 21st - 27th only) |

This father and son duo terrorize the UK countryside in Datsun 240Z pair
Wed, 12 Nov 2014The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood. Check out this video from Petrolicious for a father and son who both find something to love in these classic Japanese coupes.
Roadkill pits every project car against each other
Sat, 22 Feb 2014The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]
Mon, 15 Jul 2013In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.
