1979 Datsun 280zx Tenn. Car No Reserve on 2040-cars
New Baltimore, Michigan, United States
79 Datsun 280zx two seater. 6cyl. engine that runs great with a five speed manual trans that's shifts nice & the clutch grabs right off the floor. The car is close to completely rust free as you can see in the pics. No rust on any of the floors or trunk, rockers door bottoms, fenders. The driver fender was replaced do to a crease in it with no other damage as seen in pics. It was replaced with a rust free used fender not aftermarket. The car was bought new in N.C. and then went to Tenn. for the rest of it's life, my cousin bought it off the orig. owner & I have the window sticker & all the paper work from when the car was bought new. It has a clean Tenn. title as I am selling it for my cousin. The car has only been in MI. for six months & was indoors. The brake system has been gone through with a new master cyl. all new rubber brake hoses, rebuilt calipers in rear, new pads & turned the rotors. New fuel pump & filter, New battery, Rebuilt starter & dist. New spark plugs. All new temp. senders. Everything works on the car but the a/c that should work with a recharge. Factory a/c car with four wheel power disc brakes. It has power windows, mirrors, ant. All the gauges work but the gas gauge jumps around a bit when driving. I have been driving the car around on nice days so other than some cosmetics it's a driver right now. The tires are good but they shake a little about 60 mph. I have headlight covers & a complete weather-strip kit that goes with it. Have the car for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if sold locally. Call or e-mail any questions to Doug at 586-722-8050

Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Fiat contemplating sub-brand to compete with Dacia, Datsun
Tue, 05 Feb 2013You can add Fiat to the admittedly short list of automakers considering a low-cost brand to rival Dacia. The inexpensive Eastern European brand from Renault-Nissan has performed on the balance sheet like a premium model line, and the money the alliance is taking off the table is encouraging other players to deal themselves in. Pretty soon Nissan's Datsun sub-brand will join the Dacia party, going on sale in Russia, Indonesia and India and will claim even more rubles, rupiahs and rupees for the parent company. Volkswagen recently said it will make a decision this year on a budget line for the Chinese market. With the euthanasia of Lancia and plans to move the Fiat brand upmarket, company CEO Sergio Marchionne wonders aloud to Automotive News Europe whether there could be room for a new budget brand underneath Fiat.
We're told that the initiative has been in the idea box for five years and even moved to the stage of name considerations, like Innocenti, but worries about profit kept it from realization. If such a range were to be developed, Marchionne says it couldn't be built in Italy and stay within budget, and the company is "analyzing its manufacturing capacity outside of Europe to see if a low-cost brand is viable."
Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
