UP FOR SALE IS MY 1977 DATSUN 280Z, TWO OWNER CALIFORNIA CAR,BOUGHT NEW AT BARWICK DATSUN IN SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO CA. ALWAYS GARAGED AND WELL MAINTAINED. ZERO RUST ANYWHERE.UNDERNEATH THE CAR IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THE PAINT IS ALL ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THE HOOD AND REAR HATCH THAT WAS REPAINTED BACK IN THE 1990s. THE PAINT STILL LOOKS GOOD BUT DOES HAVE A FEW MINOR DOOR DINGS AND SOME VERY SMALL NICKS. THE BOTTOM OF THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER HAS A SMALL DING THAT IS SHOWN IN THE PICTURES. THE INTERIOR IS ALL ORIGINAL AND IN NICE CONDITION. DASH HAS TWO CRACKS SHOWN IN PICTURES AND DRIVER SEAT IS SHOWING SOME WEAR. ALL GAUGES, LIGHTS,HORN,WHIPERS ETC WORK AS THEY SHOULD. CLOCK DOES NOT WORK. AIR CONDITIONING BLOWS COOL BUT NOT COLD MAY JUST NEED A CHARGE? BUT I DONT KNOW FOR SURE. IN 2002 AT 99K MILES IT HAD MAJOR WORK DONE AT THE LOCAL DATSUN DEALER BECAUSE OF OVER HEATING. NEW REMAUFACTURED LONG BLOCK FROM DATSUN, NEW RADIATOR, NEW MOTOR MOUNTS ETC. IN 2004 IT HAD ALL NEW INJECTORS, ALTERNATOR,FUEL LINES, VACUUM LINES ETC. AT 102K MILES. ALL AT A COST OF RIGHT AROUND $7K, THE CAR NOW HAS 104K MILES AND HAS HAD VERY LITTLE USE SINCE THE WORK WAS DONE. IN THE LAST MONTH IT HAS HAD A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND MAGNA FLOW MUFFLER,NEW FRONT TIRES AND BRAKES. Datsun debuts new seven-seat Go+ in Indonesia [w/video]
Wed, 18 Sep 2013The Datsun name may have long since been replaced by Nissan, but the old brand is making a comeback - in certain markets, at least. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand in July as its new budget brand for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback, and has now followed up with the addition of the larger Go+.
Set to be built in Indonesia at Nissan's plant in Purwakarta, the Go+ debuts today in the capital of Jakarta as the second model in the new Datsun lineup. The seven-passenger minivan features flexible seating in a compact form 13 feet long, powered by an unspecified 1.2-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Nissan isn't saying much else about the model, but hopes the new Datsun twins will account for half of its sales in Indonesia within three years. The low price target for both models - set to come in at less than 100 million rupiah ($8,700) - ought to help it get there. The lineup is then scheduled to reach other markets, starting with India, Russia and South Africa next year.
Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]
Mon, 15 Jul 2013In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.
