Here’s a quick rundown of the major modifications to the car: Engine: Rebello built 3.0 liter (235whp/217wtq) (rebuilt less than 3 years ago, less than 3000 miles on it since then) Triple Mikuni 44 carbs Koyo race radiator 280ZX 5spd transmission Full ZCG exhaust system ZCG carb heat shield JWT clutch/flywheel Suspension/Wheels/Aero/Misc: Ground Control coil-overs front and rear (w/ camber plates) Techno Toys LCAs 16x8 Panasport wheels Front and rear strut bars Front and rear spoilers Four point race belts on passenger and driver bucket seats Z Car Garage HID headlight upgrade *When engine was installed, engine bay was stripped, cleaned up, re-painted, and had all apropriate hardware cadmium plated What needs work: -Clearcoat/paint on the roof will need to be touched up. - Just recently someone dinged a fender with their door in a parking lot -Brakes are starting to glaze. They still stop great, but at low speed/low pedal pressure they’ll squeal -Going to need new tires if you plan on serious tracking/canyon carving I've had this car for a couple of years, and while I love the car, right now I just don't drive it much anymore. This has been a California car for the last 20 years at minimum. The car runs and drives great, however, be aware that this is a RACE SETUP. This is not a car that you hop in and drive to the store. The carbs do NOT have chokes on them, and are NOT setup for when the engine is cold. If you're looking for a car that's easy to daily drive, then keep going, this is not the one that you are looking for. If you're looking for a car that you can auto-cross and take to track days, but don't need to trailer it in, then this might be the one for you. Mechanically the car is solid. The engine does not consume any oil or coolant, there are zero leaks of any kind under the car. First new Datsun in decade sketched, set for Indian reveal
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Nissan's Datsun nameplate revival will begin with two models bound for the Indian market. Nissan has released sketches of a five-door hatchback based on the Micra (codenamed K2) and a top-down view of a hood that could potentially be from a sedan.
The company's press release says all will be revealed on July 15 in New Delhi, India. The Datsun lineup will be first offered in 2014 to that country's ride-deprived residents as well as Indonesia and Russia. Later in 2014, South Africa will join the list.
We've heard Nissan plans for Datsuns to share platforms with company-owned Lada. In January, we heard the projected price tag could be around $3,000 USD to compete with Chinese imports. The official press release (which can be read in full below) says nothing about either of these reports, however.
Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
