Up for sale is a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country.  The vehicle has just over 141K miles and is a light silver blue on the exterior and dark blue on the interior.  The vehicle is well equipped with power windows, power door locks, power drivers seat, working air conditioning and HEATED SEATS.  The Engine runs good and we have had no noticeable transmission problems.  There are no tears or burns on the interior cloth seat. The vehicle has NOT been smoked in. The vehicle seats seven.  There are captains chairs in the middle and a bench seat in the back.  I took some pictures of the interior seats but couldn't find the picture files.  I only The seats are in fine condition.

Things we have done to it:

  • We had new Michelin tires installed all the way around just before winter, and they are still almost new.
  • I have installed new headlight covers on the front because they were "foggy".
  • I changed out the front left wheel bearing about 9 months ago.

The bad stuff (things we never fixed)
  • If you are looking for a car with a perfect body, this is not it.  While there is no major damage, it has its share of scrapes and dinks.  I will show the worst of them in the photos.
  • There is a bearing that is starting to squeal on the alternator.  It seems to go away after it warms up.  It has been like this for about 6 months. (I got a quote for about $220 to fix it, but I guess I didn't mind it that much, because we never fixed it.  It functions just fine.
  • The engine light comes on, but it has been that way since we got the van and it has run fine all the time.

I am asking for a $500 deposit on Paypal within 24 hours after the auction closes.  Final payment should be within 10 days unless we work something out ahead of time.  Please note: If you win the bid you are expected to complete the transaction.  You are bidding on the vehicle, not a chance to come look at it.  (If you want to do that, contact me well before the auction closes)

I am offering this vehicle with "NO RESERVE", so this will go to the high bidder.  You may message me with any questions.

2015 Chrysler 200 looks to put Pentastar's cars back on track [w/videos]

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

It's fair to say that Chrysler Corporation has been on a major perception upswing with its new products, but that rise has largely been centered around its trucks and utility vehicles - the car side has been somewhat left out. The outgoing 200 (previously skinned as the Sebring) never garnered any laurels, the Dart has suffered a rather cool reception both critically and in terms of sales, the second-gen 300 is a nice car yet it hasn't sold as well as its predecessor, and even the mighty SRT Viper has had its V10 bark muted by the less costly and multi-talented Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Resurgent Chrysler could use a hit car, and the 2015 200 may just be it.
It looks great here under the lights at the Detroit Auto Show.
For one thing, it looks great here under the lights at the Detroit Auto Show. Eschewing today's oversized headlamp and grille trend, the sleek 200 (with a coefficient of drag of just .27) displays a 'four-door coupe' sensibility with a sense of style that the old 200 with its gawky greenhouse and forced details never did. The new 200's exterior may look a bit like a greatest hits compendium of other high-style cars (see also: Audi A7, Tesla Model S, etc.), but it doesn't come off as a pastiche, it's all well-integrated and organic all the same.

Chrysler investing $20M in Toledo plant to support 9-speed auto production

Sun, 28 Apr 2013

In 2011, Chrysler announced a $72-million investment in its Toledo Machining Plant to modernize production of the eight- and nine-speed torque-converters for automatic transmissions made there. That upgrade work won't be finished until Q3 of this year, but Chrysler has already announced a further $19.6-million investment to increase production capacity for the nine-speeders.
The extra units will be necessary because the nine-speed transmission they'll be mated to is going into three popular models: it will debut on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, then go into the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. The company predicted that this year alone it would sell 200,000 units equipped with the nine-speed tranny, and it is spending some $374 million in addition to the investment in Toledo to upgrade production capacity for it.
The work attached to this new investment won't begin until Q3 of 2014, and it will be finished by the end of that year. There's a press release below with all the details.

Fiat talking with banks about buying rest of Chrysler

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

All that stands in the way of Fiat's total ownership of Chrysler is a 41.5-percent stake currently held by the United Auto Workers healthcare trust, but according to SFGate.com, Sergio Marchionne is currently trying to raise the capital to complete the acquisition. The article says that a deal could be completed in as soon as 12 months, and the estimate for the remaining stake could cost Fiat SpA around $2.98 billion.
With a goal of completing the deal by the end of 2014, Marchionne is said to be in talks with various banks to help finance some of the deal. According to the report, the banks have indicated a need for a stronger balance sheet, controlled debt and reserve cash.
Two things that don't seem to be on the table to get the deal completed include issuing new shares to raise the capital or selling a stake in Ferrari. Fiat started with a 20 percent share of Chrysler in June 2009, and it raised its stake up to 58.5 percent in January 2012.
