1961 Chrysler "Beautiful Brute" Town & Country Seven Passenger Wagon

This 1961 Chrysler New Yorker nine-passenger hardtop Town & Country has been transformed into the Chrysler 300 letter car station wagon that Chrysler never built. This Resto-Mod has been done with the same luxury, style and power of the original letter cars but with the utility and beauty of a Town & Country wagon.

This vehicle was found Southern California many years ago and then the fun started. It was and still is a rust free original black plate California wagon. The original black plates go with the car.

Engine: 1967 seasoned Imperial 440 block bored .030 over W/ TRW forged pistons, forged crank, 906 heads W/ S.S. 1.88/2.14 valves and hardened seats through out. Mopar performance cam and the entire system was balanced when assembled. The exhaust is custom bent 2 1/2 " stainless steel from the 1964 300K cast iron headers on through the reverse flow Flowmaster S.S. mufflers and out through the S.S. 1970 custom Road Runner tips.

Transmission: 1962 aluminum 727 TorqueFlite rebuilt to 300 letter car specs with a 1965 tail shaft, intentionally changed to remove the original parking brake and re-locate the later factory parking system to the rear brake drums. Aluminum B+M transmission pan installed that has been modified for depth.  Custom balanced drive shaft installed

Rear: 1970 8 3/4" center section with a 276 open rear gear and 11" X 2 1/2" drum brakes

The entire body has been completely taken down to white metal in and out to insure that it was and still is rust free. Then after the very few imperfections, dents and dings in the body were professionally massaged away, a mixture of Dodge Viper green and Chrysler Black were applied, clear coated, and polished to the brilliance you see.

The 300 side spears and the wheels are the only exterior changes noticeable. The body is as it came from the factory with zero modifications. All exterior stainless steel and bright metal has been straightened and re-plated professionally. The power braking system has been upgraded to dual master cylinder, front Disk brakes and 11 X 2 1/2 inch drums with an up-dated rear axle and 276 open center section.

Wheels have been up-graded to 15" factory aluminum "Snow Flakes". There have been access panels installed in the inner fenders as the factory would have done it for making proper room and access to the cross rams and spark plugs.

And on the engine there have been added a few pieces of polished metal as seen. Not gaudy I believe but again titleholder’s license. The cross rams are now water heated for better operation and no exhaust corrosion. On the inside every thing has been changed to Chrysler charcoal gray except for the head liner, which is off white and was fabricated from proper headliner material and six correct length bows. (no drooping cardboard in this T&C)

The two bench seats (front and center rows) have been replaced with four power bucket seats from matching 300M. The third rear facing bench seats 3 and is not powered but has been matched to the 300M in color and style. The one twenty MPH speedometer that the New Yorker started life with has been replaced with a one fifty MPH speedometer that all Letter cars came with.

A 1961 300G full-length center console has been installed. The entire wiring system, under hood, under dash, and interior including all power windows in the four doors have been newly manufactured and installed.

Marker lights, 300 side medallions, and taillights have been newly manufactured and installed. This Station Wagon came with air conditioning, which it still has but has been up-graded and works perfectly as it was intended to. All glass is factory tinted with a new tinted windshield.

Other then the few custom pieces added, every part replaced and up-dated is a Chrysler Corp. part, no exceptions! The speedometer originally showed less than 12,000 miles and the odometer was reset to 0.To date and after six years of only summer driving there have been approximately 3000 miles added since the maiden voyage without a mark or blemish added.

2015 Chrysler 200 gets 36 mpg with Tigershark four-cylinder

Thu, 27 Mar 2014

Chrysler has come out with the official fuel economy information on the new 200 following the info that was leaked from the EPA earlier this week. It turns out that our initial report of 18 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway for the all-wheel-drive V6 was correct.
What we didn't know at the time, though, was what sort of economy the 200's other powertrain options managed. Outfitted with the 2.4-liter four-pot, Chrysler is promising 23 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, with a combined rating of 28 mpg. Those figures are fairly impressive; besting figures of the 2.5-liter Ford Fusion and tying the 1.5-liter, EcoBoost, non-start-stop model. It's also beats the four-cylinder Toyota Camry's 35-mpg highway figure while tying its combined efficiency.
Stepping up to the 295-horsepower Pentastar V6 pushes the economy down to 19 mpg in the city, while the highway figure is a respectable 32 mpg for the front-driver. The combined rating for the FWD V6 is 23 mpg. Those figures can't quite match the 270-horsepower 2.0-liter, EcoBoost four of the Fusion, which nets 22 city and 33 highway. In fact, the V6 200 has trouble besting even the 3.5-liter V6 of the Camry, which returns 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. Again, though, the 200 is noticeably more powerful.

Dodge not being dropped by Chrysler, CEO reaffirms

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

Dodge isn't going anywhere. Despite some rumor and speculation over the future of the crosshair grille and the cars that wear it, Dodge brand boss, Tim Kuniskis, sat down with TheDetroitBureau.com, explaining that the marque isn't going anywhere. His sentiments echo those of SRT boss Ralph Gilles, who told a group of enthusiasts in July that "Dodge is here to stay!"
Dodge's death won't be "a part of a master plan to consolidate brands," Kuniskis told TheDetroitBureau.com. Instead, the brand, which is ultimately under the command of Fiat/Chrysler CEO, Sergio Marchionne, will likely ditch some of its badge-engineered models, like the Dodge Grand Caravan. A more focused Dodge, which was something Gilles has already hinted at, will likely see it exploring areas of the market that haven't been exploited by other Chrysler brands.
Kuniskis, not surprisingly, wasn't willing to delve into any detailed product plans, telling TDB that the size of the brand's lineup "remains to be seen." Regardless of how big the brand actually ends up being (it is presently Chrysler's volume brand - and not by a little), hopefully the statements from Kuniskiss can put the rumors of a Dodge closure to bed.

Italian government to lean on Fiat's Marchionne to commit to country

Sun, 26 May 2013

With the recent chatter that Fiat is looking to move its global headquarters to the US following a complete merger with Chrysler, the Italian government is voicing its opinion on the matter. Facing the potential job loss from the automaker leaving the country, Italy's industry minister is meeting with Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne in what will likely be a plea to keep the company based in Turin rather than moving to Auburn Hills, MI - if indeed it is able to acquire the additional 41.5 percent of Chrysler currently owned by the United Auto Workers.
According to Bloomberg, Fiat is Italy's biggest private employer and unemployment is already nearing a 20-year high. The non-car side of Fiat, Fiat Industrial, is already planning a move to the UK, so it goes without saying that Fiat moving would be a pretty big blow for the Italian economy. In the article, Fiat says that the headquarters issue is "not on its agenda now," but that statement is far from a denial.
