1962 Chrysler Newport Convertible, Rare, Runs And Drives Great ! on 2040-cars

Year:1962 Mileage:90833
Location:

Carroll, Iowa, United States

Carroll, Iowa, United States

For sale here is a great running and driving, and rare 1962 Chrysler Newport convertible.  There were only 2051 Chrysler Newport convertibles produced in 1962.  The styling of these cars is very unique and desireable.

This '62 Newport has 90,883 miles on the odometer and runs and stops great.  It starts right up and has plenty of power from the 361 V-8.  The push-button transmission works well.  Its really a joy to drive this one around town with the top down.

The body is pretty nice.  There is a repairable seem on the very bottom edge of the passenger's side rocker.  The bottom front fender tip behind the passenger's side front wheel is a little off-looking also, but each of these blemishes is hardly noticeable while using the car.  The paint shows well and the chrome is good.  The stainless is also good.  The glass is in nice shape as well.  The top does need a new rear plastic window due to UV discoloration.  A previous owner removed the old window for visibility.  Its the zip-in type.  The top must currently be operated manually.  This top does go up and down very easily and quickly manually.  It seals out the wind pretty well too.  The top vinly is im good condition.  Decent riding radials and nice hubcaps.  The door jambs will have to be painted the correct hue of blue.  A previous owner repainted the car and the door jambs and trunk seal channel are a different shade.

The underside is in good shape with some usual and expected surface rust present.  The car does ride smoothly.  The trunk floor appears to have had some repair in the past.

The interior is in great shape.  The seats are nice and very comfortable.  The dash is nice and the guages are clear.  Nice door panels.  Seat belts in the car operate.  The doors open and shut OK as does the hood and trunk.

The following items are working: headlights, taillights, brake lights, rear turn signals, front left turn signal, passenger wiper, all windows, amp meter, temp ga, heater and blower, radio.  The following are not currently working: right front blinker, driver's wiper, horn, fuel ga, speedo and oil ga.

This RARE and very classy 1962 Newport Convertible can be enjoyed right away!!  Cruise thorugh town in your Newport Convertible and get those looks and thumbs-up I have been getting this summer.

Please feel free to ask questions.  Sold in as-is condition.  Inspection available.

Mopar-modified Chrysler 200 reappears in Chicago

Fri, 07 Feb 2014

Chrysler made what was one of the biggest debuts of the 2014 North American International Auto Show last month when it debuted the heavily redesigned 200. While impressive on its own, the sleek sedan's Mopar counterpart, which was tucked away in a corner during the Detroit show, adds even more visual flair.
Based on the Chrysler 200S, the showcar had already benefitted from Lunar White Tricoat paint and meaty, 19-inch wheels (now in Satin Lite Bronze finish). White leather seats with bronze stitching accented the cabin treatment.
For Chicago, Chrysler added a Mopar body kit and new upper and lower grilles, both of which give the four-door a considerably more menacing look. The rear fascia is set off by a new bumper and a revised set of exhaust tips. The cabin is unchanged from the Detroit car.

Chrysler banks $507 million in Q2, trims 2013 earnings forecast

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Chrysler has some good news and some bad news. First, profits were up 16 percent over the second quarter of 2012, bringing the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based manufacturer $507 million on the back of strong demand for trucks and SUVs (a recurring theme this quarter, particularly in the US). Q2 revenue was up as well, from $16.8 billion in 2012 to $18 billion in 2013. The bad news is that the Pentastar's overall earnings forecast for net income in 2013 has been trimmed from $2.2 billion to between $1.7 and $2.2 billion, according to Automotive News.
In addition to the adjusted net income forecast, Chrysler tweaked its operating profit from $3.8 billion to between $3.3 and $3.8 billion. This has gone largely unexplained by Chrysler, perhaps hoping the news of a three-percent increase in its transaction prices for Q2 will allow it to sweep this adjustment under the rug.
The star of the show for Chrysler has been its US sales, which saw a 10-percent jump, both bettering the industry average of eight percent and improving over the same stretch of 2012. As with the increase in transaction prices, Chrysler has the new Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee to thank. Perhaps most worrying from this report, though, is that every brand in the automaker's stable saw an increase in sales... except for the Chrysler brand itself.

Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.
