For sale is my beloved Chevy.

I genuinely love this truck.   But it is time to pass it on.  My needs have changed.

This truck has been wonderful to me.  Very few problems ever.  I've definitely had some things fixed over the years, but largely I feel like this truck has held up thus far, to a point that more than exceeded my expectations.  I hope it will be as good to the next owner as it was to me.  I have absolutely no reason to suspect otherwise.

This truck looks and runs great.  I really mean that.

I encourage anyone to look at the Carfax report on this vehicle.  It is totally clean.

There are two details that are worth disclosing.  The first is that I've been having to add coolant every two months or so.   But it hasn't caused me any problems thus far.  The coolant light just comes on about every two months, and I add more coolant.  That's been going on for about 4-6 months.  It currently doesn't really seem to be getting any worse.

Any similar truck is going to have some type of concerns.  I hope potential buyers will appreciate my honesty about having to add coolant every so often.

I know of only one other issue that you should know about.

There is some slight damage in one of the rear panels.  Some dimpling is shown clearly in several of the pictures if you look closely.   A contractor backed his trailer into me a few years back.  It never bothered me too much so I never got it fixed. It is not particularly noticable.

--  It has a spray in bed liner
--  power locks, windows, & seats
--  A/C, Cruise Control, CD Player
--  It has a Husky chrome truck tool box that locks
--It's a Z71 with excellent 4 wheel drive
-- tape player provides a link to connect digital/mp3 devices to the truck's stereo.

My name is Reid.  I'm 33 years old.  I'm a pretty easy going guy.  I'm in Athens.  Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to come test drive it.

Thanks for looking,

-Reid Stripling

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
